Misery Business

I'm in the business of misery, let's take it from the top
She's got a body like an hourglass it's tickin' like a clock
It's a matter of time before we all run out...
When I thought he was mine, she caught him by the mouth
Crystal looked through her journal, reading each entry of the past few months, thinking back on when he was with another.
I waited eight long months, she finally set him free
I told him I couldn't lie, he was the only one for me
Two weeks and we'd caught on fire
She's got it out for me, but I wear the biggest smile
Him and that other girl had had it going for almost a year, and the entire time, Crystal's heart was broken. She had loved him the entire time, and the entire time she had just watched her take over. She had just watched her. But at the end, she couldn't stand it anymore. Crystal had pointed it out to him that she treated him like trash, she was using him. And soon enough, he had found out she had been cheating on him with five other guys. It only took a month before he was convinced that Crystal wouldn't do that to him. Because Crystal really loved and cared for him, and next to his purity ring was an engagement ring, matching with Crystal's. It was early for this, but they didn't plan on getting married anytime soon. It was an early engagement, in which the two would wait at least two years before marrying.
Whoa, I never meant to brag
But I got him where I want him now
Whoa, it was never my intention to brag
To steal it all away from you now
But God does it feels so good
'Cause I got him where I want him now
And if you could then you know you would
'Cause God it just feels so...
It just feels so good
'That cheating girl hates me now. She knows it was me who blew her cover. I'd better watch out, but sorry girl, you're never getting him back. You blew your chance.' Crystal had written in one of her entries. She smiled as she read the rest. That girl was stupid.
Second chances they don't ever matter, people never change
Once a *****, you're nothing more, I'm sorry that'll never change
And about forgiveness, we're both supposed to have exchanged
I'm sorry honey, but I'm passed it up, now look this way!
Crystal closed her journal and got up. She slipped on her heels and walked to the front door. She leaned against the side of the door, waiting calmly. He would be picking her up soon. They were going to the seniors' end-of-year dance. It was nothing really special; the school announcer had said that it was going to be a more casual dance, since they had already had the prom, so Crystal hadn't taken the time to change from her day clothes: simple jeans with a graphic tee and a tanktop underneath. She had her heels on, however. Soon enough, she heard a honk, so she grabbed her cellphone, slipped it in her back pocket, and ran outside. He waved to her from his shiny black car. "Hey Crystal!" he yelled happily. He looked good. He hadn't dressed up much either, but he was wearing that black top hat that looks adorable on him, and a black tie on his collared shirt to go with it.
"You look great, Joe." Crystal said as she got in the car.
"Thanks, babe. You do too." he replied as he started the car up.
"But I didn't dress up."
"Ah, but that's the point. You always look great." Joe said matter-of-factly, smiling as he looked over at her for a moment. She laughed, and they had a pleasant conversation the rest of the way. When they got to the dance, Joe opened the door for Crystal and they elegantly walked to the door together.
"Senior p*CENSORED*, please." the doorman said dully. The two showed him their school cards, and they walked in happily together. That girl looked at Crystal with a painful glare. Crystal glared back at her, but smiling as well. That girl huffed and walked away. Crystal could tell she was dateless.
Well there's a million other girls who do it just like you
Looking as innocent as possible to get to who,
They want and what they like, it's "easy if you do it right"
Crystal noticed several other girls looking at her jealously as they danced with their dates, but mostly the ones without. "Looks like you're popular with the girls." Crystal said, neither happy nor mad about it.
"Nah." Joe replied modestly.
"Don't lie. You know you are. I mean, look at all of them glaring at me."
"They're jealous of your beauty." Crystal laughed again. Joe could always make her laugh. They got on the dance floor together and started busting some moves to the hip-hop music that was playing.
Well I refuse, I refuse, I refuse!
"Hey Joe, wanna dance?" one of the girls said as she walked past us. She 'accidentally' pushed Crystal, who gave her a glare.
"Sorry Miss Think-You're-Gonna-Steal-My-Date, but you're not going to." Crystal said, pushing her back. They had a glaring contest, and then the other girl walked away.
"That's the way you do it." Joe said as they started dancing again. They smiled at each other.
Whoa, I never meant to brag
But I got him where I want him now
Whoa,it was never my intention to brag
To steal it all away from you now
But God does it feel so good
'Cause I got him where I want him right now
And if you could then you know you would
'Cause God it just feels so...
It just feels so good...
I watched his wildest dreams come true
Not one of them involving you
Just watch my wildest dreams come true
Not one of them involving...
"You're way better than her. I want you to know that now, Crystal. I love you way more than her." Joe said as they looked into each other's eyes. The night was ending with a few slow songs, and the first was just starting.
"Thank you, Joe. I love you too. So much." Crystal said as they started slowdancing.
Whoa, I never meant to brag
But I got him where I want him now...
Crystal moved her head closer to his, and their lips touched. Crystal felt that just with that one amazing kiss, she could do anything. Neither of them wanted the night to end. They just wanted to stand there, holding each other, while they rocked back and forth to the slow love song.
Whoa, I never meant to brag
But I got him where I want him now
Whoa, it was never my intention to brag
To steal it all away from you now
But God does it feels so good
'Cause I got him where I want him now
And if you could then you know you would
'Cause God it just feels so...
It just feels so good
