She thought she saw him once before. Her red hair whipped in the gentle wind like feathers as her green eyes darted through the crowd to meet his chocolatey brown eyes. Her friend tried to pull her towards the Tilt-a-whirl Ride not too far away, but she thought he was familiar. She persistently told her impatient friend to wait as she stood staring at this perfect person only 100 feet from her.
The warm summer day was unbearable, but the state fair only came once a year. Three boys, laughing and smiling their flawless grins, walked towards this girl and her friend as her friend tried to pull her away. "Mary, we only have one day here. I'm not going to waste it looking at---mama mia! Who is that cutie?!" her blonde, over-excited friend asked.
She didn't answer. Her friend had been looking at the boy on the left, but Mary had been paralyzed by the boy walking in the middle. His curly hair bounced and his close-fitted sports top showed off his toned arms.
The trio approached the two girls non-chalantly and smiled. The boy on the left introduced himself as "Joe" and the one on the left "Kevin." Mary and her friend were dumbfounded at these boys' cuteness and warm welcoming. Joe and Mary's friend decided to ride together on the Tilt-a-whirl. Kevin had wanted to ride with their little brother Frankie.
Mary was left with her crush in the middle of a busy crowd. His black ray-bans reflected the July sunlight as she smiled. He offered to ride with her and she eagerly agreed. Mary decided she met him in a dream once. For now, life was just a carnival ride.
