Come here Kay! We have a surprise for your 16th birthday! Bellowed my parents from inside the house.
Coming! I responded, wiping my hands off with an old rag. Trying my hardest to get all the grease off the best I could.
Yea? I asked, walking over to the sink and using some grease remover to get the excess grease off of my hands.
Sweetie, we would like you to sit down please. Hurry up now, you better not get any grease on my furniture. My Mother reprimanded, acting as if I had never heard her say it before. So I hurried up and finished getting the grease off of my hands.
Okay, I’m here. What do yall need? I asked coming out in a more sour tone than I wanted it to.
Well, if you would act more gracious then you might just find out. My father said. He was hard working, and always tried to get the best for me. But what he didn’t understand is that I don’t want all the designer stuff, I am okay with old hand-me-downs, and hand-made stuff. That is all that really matters, that and cars of course.
Well we both know how much oyu love watching NASCAR on television. So we figured for your sweet 16, we would get you tickets! My parents exclaimed together.
Wow, thanks guys. But you didn’t have to do this. Seriously don’t we go every year, why should this year be any different? I asked. My parents took me to the races every year. I had always gone to been one of the few girls to have a radio on, and paying attention to the race. I knew every square inch of that arena, every driver, and every faithful fan.
Just look at the tickets. My dad said in a hinting voice. So I examined the tickets, looking over the date, arena, and finally found the seating area. It was printed that we had box seats. I began to jump up and down, and letting tears roll down my face.
Thank yall so much. But seriously you two didn’t have to do this. Thanks for doing it though. I exclaimed, sobbing at this point.
