The Boy of Her Dreams
To think if she hadn’t been forced into going to the concert with her best friends she would have never met him, never fallen in love and never known a taste of the good life. She smiles thinking back to the day that started it all the day that changed her life for the better.
“Come on Lindsay you have to come with us.”
Lindsay raised a perfectly trimmed brown eyebrow at her best friends who were both begging her to come with them to a concert. They had an extra ticket and were convinced that Lindsay would love the band. She wasn’t as sure as they were though.
“I’ll think about it.”
“LINDSAY!”
“Fine I’ll go bossy much.”
The other two girls, both brunettes, smile widely at that they know that Lindsay is going to have the time of her life tonight, even if she doesn’t want to admit it she will. The concert went great and then it was time for the meet and greet. Marni was bouncing off the walls her green eyes shinning as Stephani stood calmly listening to the Jonas Brothers on her iPod. Lindsay wasn’t at all interested in meeting the boys but Stephani and Marni insisted. Of course they hadn’t told her that they had private meet and greet p*CENSORED*. So as they walked backstage, Marni bouncing and pointing out everything while Stephani nodded her head up and down with the music, Lindsay grumbled about being kidnapped and not wanting to be there. That is until she spotted him, he was gorgeous curly brunette hair and big brown eyes. She almost stopped walking but then she heard Marni’s girly squeal followed by deep laughter from Stephani.
“NICK!”
Nick? He was one of the boys in the band wasn’t he? Well if nothing else, their music didn’t suck and he was pretty cute. Stephani gave Marni a quick smack causing Lindsay to laugh, knowing that her friend had done something stupid.
“Hi I’m Nick,” he smiled holding his hand out to her.
“Lindsay,” she replied looking him over.
He was even more gorgeous close up. But she wasn’t about to tell him that. A quick look at her friends showed Marni bouncing around talking with a straight haired boy, also one of the boys in the band, and Stephani sitting on the other curly haired boys lap laughing along with him.
“So did you like the show?”
Her eyes turn back to the curly haired boy standing in front of her and she shrugs causing his face to fall.
“No offense but I’m not a fan. Those two dragged me here tonight. Claiming that I would just love you guys. I mean you are cool and all but…” Lindsay’s words drift off when she realizes that Nick’s face is slowly forming a deeper frown.
“Wow I never knew you could kill a boy’s spirit so fast,” Stephani’s voice calls from across the room.
Lindsay turns and looks shocked at her best friend not knowing how to make it better with the very cute boy who she was hurting.
“I didn’t mean too. I just told him that I wasn’t a fan… I mean it’s true. I’m not…”
The other two boys look shocked at Lindsay and then back to the two girls they were talking to before looking back at Lindsay again.
“You’re not our fan are you serious? These two are like our biggest fans…”
“We are your biggest fans get it right. If we weren’t you wouldn’t love us so much,” Marni claims leaning in and kissing the straight haired boy.
“Okay I clearly missed something while I was at summer camp…”
“No crap. We went to about twenty of their concerts this summer, met them about twenty times and hung out with them about twenty times. Why do you think we wanted you to come? These are our boyfriends. That’s their little brother. We were hoping you two would get along but you apparently killed the mood with your talking.”
“Well I’m sorry that I didn’t lie.”
“I like that.”
Lindsay turns shocked to Nick and looks at him straight in the eyes.
“What?”
“I like that you didn’t want to lie. And I like you didn’t lie. Cause if you had come back here and been like. Oh mi gosh I love you guys so much. You have no idea how much this means to me. When you didn’t really care I would have been hurt. Cause for all I know you could be a hater who would like spread all these lies about it to people.”
“I don’t lie. And I’m not a fan but you guys did good tonight. I don’t really like Disney pop cause well I really don’t like Disney but you’re a lot more mature Disney Pop rock. Which is pretty cool.”
She smiles at him and he smiles back not showing any teeth.
“Is there a reason you don’t smile with teeth? I mean I noticed that tonight. When you smiled it was a closed mouth one. I doubt you have horrid looking teeth seeing as you are a famous pop rock star.”
He laughed and soon they were deep in conversation. They barely stopped talking as both had to leave, he dialed his number into her phone and she did the same. As soon as they left one another they were talking on the phone. For days they chatted whenever they had the chance and then one day he did it he asked her on a date. She smiled and agreed and it wasn’t long before they were in a relationship. She got used to the cameras the angry fans the hectic schedule, because she knew that all that really mattered was how they felt about one another. Soon he was off again, on another one of his tours and they had to last on midnight talks and random text messages. She always wrote back and he did the same and even with the distance their relationship grew stronger.
She lasted through the months, almost a full year, and when he came back it was a tearful reunion. She lasted longer than Marni and Joe had, though they got back together almost right away only to create an ongoing cycle of break ups and make ups, and longer than Stephani and Kevin, who realized they were better as friends then boyfriend and girlfriend. She lasted a full three years before she even thought of not being with Nick anymore. By then he had gone on three tours, that kept him away for almost a full two years, and had moved to California. And when he flew to New York that day she knew exactly what she had to do.
“Nick. I can’t deal with this. I love you but this is too much.”
“Lin…”
“No Nick. Listen to me. I can deal with not seeing you every day because I know I will see you again. But you being gone for two years at a time I can’t deal with. I love our talks and I love you to death but I can’t.
“Then come with me.”
She shook her head trying to fight the tears that she knew were coming and popped her wrists, a nervous habit she had. She did love him to death and wanted to spend time with him but she had just gotten into a school in the city that she had been trying to get into forever.
“Nick I want to but I can’t.”
“Why not Lindsay?”
“Your aren’t the most important thing in the world Nick. Despite millions of teenage girls thinking that you are! I have other things to worry about, my schooling, my future, my life outside of you. Half of my friends won’t hang out with my anymore cause I am so bad about missing you. In fact I think the only ones who do stick by me are Marni and Stephani and both are in college so I really don’t have them. I’m sorry but I need to be a teenager.”
His brown eyes clouded over as he looked at her and he pulled something from his pocket. He placed it on the table in front of her and then stormed out of her house. That image was burned into her brain and would stay there for the rest of her life. She opened the box and stared at the gorgeous ruby ring he had given her tears streaming down her cheeks. Not knowing what else to do she dialed the two familiar numbers that would bring comfort.
“Lindsay what’s up?”
“Lindsay what’s wrong honey why are you crying?”
“Nick and I…”
“You did not break up with Nick.”
Marni’s voice held the shock that was expected. Everyone had expected her and Nick to last 'til the end of time and this was going to shock the world.
“I have to get him back.”
“Okay we’ll be right there Lindsay. We’ll help you fix it.”
Stephani’s calm voice caused Lindsay to calm down a little bit. But by the time the other two girls had arrived she was in a fit of crying, curled in a ball on her bed watching tapes of Nick.
“Lindsay tell us what happened baby.”
So in between sobs Lindsay explained exactly what happened and then showed the ring that Nick had produced. The other girls gasped and then Stephani got an idea.
“They are going to be on GMA tomorrow right?”
“Yea.”
“I have a plan.”
So that night was spent putting the plan into action and the three girls woke up around 4:00 the next morning to make their way to the studio, knowing it will be crowded with screaming Jonas fans. They some how made it inside, someone recognized them and let them sit behind the scenes. They waited patiently for everyone to show up and when Joe, Nick and Kevin walked onto the stage Lindsay almost cried. The boys were asked a lot of questions and then came the one that every teenage fan in the world was waiting for.
“Now Nick we know you have a girlfriend, but what about you Joe and Kevin?”
“Actually I am dating someone her name is Marni.”
“Um nope I’m single I’m just hanging out with my best friend when I can. She helps me remember who I was when she met me.”
“Um… Actually I’m single.”
“Your single… But what happened to girlfriend of almost three years Lindsay?”
“Um… well…”
“Nick.”
His head turned to the side and he spotted her standing there her eyes trying not to brim over with tears. He hurried to her side his arms crossed in front of his chest as he looked at her slowly.
“I made the biggest mistake I could have made yesterday. Because after you left I realized that you were my reason for getting up in the morning and that I love you to death and always will. If you don’t want to forgive me I understand…”
“Lindsay. You should know I will always love you. Nothing will ever change that. And no matter where I am you are my everything.”
“I do. I know it. I just didn’t want to except it. And now I know if I don’t I’ll loose the best thing that ever happened to me.”
Without warning he wrapped his arms tighly around her and pressed his lips to hers in a deep, passionate kiss. Tears filled the other girls eyes as they hugged the other boys and when Lindsay and Nick pulled away he asked her something that shocked her to death.
“Marry me.”
“Yes.”
Another kiss takes over their lips as Marni, Stephani, Joe and Kevin all look shocked at the pair.
That was how she got here in a church, a white dress covering her body and very handsome man waiting for her at the end of the isle. They had to wait a few years, he was barely 18 when he asked her to marry him, and they decided to wait until he was atleast 19. So the day after his nineteenth birthday they gathered in the church, with their friends and family and decided to link their lifes for the rest of their days. Spotting his unruly curls in the front brings a smile to her face. A smile knowing that she was going to spend the rest of the life with the boy of her dreams.
