How I Met Your Father
“Mommy tell us the story again.”
“Alright one last time and then its bed time for my two little angels.”
It all started when she entered a contest. She kept telling herself that she wouldn’t win, she wasn’t that lucky. And then her phone rang and she was told that she had won, won the chance to go and meet her favorite band. Her blue eyes shone as she told everyone around her. She finally agreed to let her best friend go with her and knew that they would both have a blast. Second row seats were hard to come by and she got them by entering a contest. The day of the concert was hectic the two girls hurrying to get ready as fast as they could and trying with all their might to not be late. Finally they finish and start their drive to the concert hall.
Stepping inside was incredible, the stage, the seating, everything it looked gorgeous. And then there was the fact that they got to go backstage and meet the three boys who they dreamed about every night. She had dressed to impress, knowing that they would do the same and even added a strip of red to her naturally blond hair for a little flare. And when the tall man lead them to the room where the three boys were sitting she almost died.
Spotting them in person for the first time she wanted to cry, but didn’t. Her best friend burst into tears but she didn’t she knew she had to keep it in or she would never stop crying. They started to talk and almost right away she realized how much she had in common with the youngest boy her favorite boy. They chatted until the concert had to start and that’s when he shocked her and wrote his number down on a picture he signed for her.
The concert was spent with her smiling up at him and him grinning right back down at her. When it ended she took her phone out and dialed his number wanting to hear his voice again. He laughed and talked with her until he went with his family to get some food. She listened to his good bye walking with her best friend into a fast food place and spotting a familiar brown mop ran over and attacked him with a hug. He was shocked at first but when he saw her, his smile grew widely. They joined one another with a meal and she got to interact happily with the whole family.
The night slowly turned to morning and everyone else was sleeping while they were talking on the phone. He said he was mad that he hadn’t met her before and sad that they were leaving in hours to head to the next city. She just smiled and told him that whenever he needed her, he knew where she was and how to get in touch with her. And he took that advice to heart calling her, every day and every night talking to her for as long as he could. She knew after a very short amount of time that he was her knight in shinning armor.
Tour ended and she heard from him less often, it seemed like when he wasn’t touring he was a lot busier than he had been on tour. So when she got a call one night she was shocked. He told her how much he missed talking to her, hearing her voice and knowing what a great friend she was. And he told her that most of all he missed being able to just sit and look her in the eyes and talk, knowing that she liked him for who he was not what he did. And then he told her that he had got her a present and it should be getting to her house soon.
The sound of a knock on her front door brought her from her trance and caused her to make her way over to it. Pulling the door open brought the biggest surprise she could have imagined. He was standing there, his once shaggy and curly brown hair cut shorter now wavy and clean cut, but his eyes they were the same eyes she had stared into all that time ago. Hugging him brought back so many memories that she almost cried but she didn’t.
Smiling seemed to be the only thing the two could do, well smiling and staring, as they scanned each other for a change, her once long hair was cut shorter and wavy but other than that she was still the girl he had left behind all that time ago. And the night was spent talking and catching up and joking. When morning came neither wanted to part but he had an interview and she had school. With a final hug he promised to take her out to dinner that night.
Time flew that day and soon he was knocking on her front door ready to take her to dinner. Her eyes sparkled when she saw him and his face lit up considerably and halfway through the date he did something she never dreamed of. He asked her if she wanted to be his girlfriend. Shock was rushing through her veins, in fact she was sure it was all she felt and all she could manage to do was nod her head at him.
The days that followed were filled with bliss and love as they spent every second that they could together. Because they knew that he would be leaving soon. And it happened quicker than either wanted. He left but he never failed to call, or text, or email, or IM and make her day. They lasted for almost a full year before there was a fight.
She saw pictures of him and another girl. He said she was crazy. She told him that she was crazy, cause only a crazy person would go out with someone like him. But by the end of the night they both knew that they loved each other and couldn’t live without one another.
Slowly the pieces of their relationship fell back together and they continued to date. He flew to see her whenever he could and whenever they had a concert near her she drove to see him sing. They grew and grew, changing their appearances but not their personalities and loving one another the whole time.
Six years after they met, when they were both in their twenties, he shocked her by getting down on one knee, in front of probably a thousand fans, and asking her to make him the happiest and luckiest man in the world. He asked her right then and there to marry him. She had the same reaction that she had when he asked her out, only able to nod her head, as one hand flew to her mouth tears streaming down her face. He kissed her and slid the ring on her finger making her realize just how real it was.
Twelve months later to the day, she walked down the isle her father at her side and stood next to him. They said their vows and shared a kiss, joining the world as a whole person. Two hearts with one soul. His brothers cheered, mother cried, father smiled and her parents just smiled. They knew that they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together and no matter what anyone said that they would.
Sixteen months after the wedding was the second most wonderful day of their lives, a beautiful little girl was born. She had her mothers eyes and her fathers hair. She was his pride and joy, he became the best father in the world and she became the best mother. Such a beautiful little girl they had.
Then almost two full years after their little girl was born they had a boy. He had his fathers hair and eyes looking like he did when he was a baby, there was no doubt who his father was. And with those two kids they grew to love each other more, appreciate each other more and know each other more.
Her blue eyes look at the two children lying in front of her and she smiles kissing their forehead and covering them up. The voice in the doorway is the only sign that she’s not alone.
“You forgot to add and they lived happily ever after.”
She smiled at him and leaned up to give him a kiss. Sealing his words so she knew that it would be happily ever after.
