Love In A Tree House
“I feel really stupid doing this,” the light brown haired girl says looking at her friends.
“Not as stupid as you look Kiwi. Now go,” a black haired girl smiles.
“But I don’t wanna.”
“KIWI GO!”
She runs into the middle of the street and starts to sing and dance. Hearing the screeches of tires she turns only to spot a pair of headlights right in her face. She looks shocked at her friends who are all looking shocked back before her eyes turn back to the car. She screams and then runs back to her front yard scared. No one ever comes down her old dirt road, which is why they dared her to do it. In fact the only people who ever come down that street are the three girls, their siblings and their parents.
“Dude this is so embarrassing,” Kiwi says causing her friends to laugh.
“For you…”
“Hi… we’re kind of lost we’re looking for 241 Danville Rd,” one of the boys in the car calls.
“… really?”
“Yea why?”
“That’s the abandoned house down the street. No one has even went to visit the house in years. I’m pretty sure it’s a mess,” Kiwi replies.
“Want to lead us there?”
“Sure… Let me change first though,” Kiwi says looking down at her outfit.
Kiwi is wearing a Harry Potter costume from two Halloweens before and it didn’t fit her at all. But that’s what her friends had dared her to wear.
“Um Kiwi I think the dare said for the day,” her blond friend smiles.
“You make me wear it and I will never talk to you again.”
“Fine you can change. But we’ll think of something else for you to do. Go,” the black haired girl says with a giggle.
Kiwi walks back out the door ten minutes later only to spot her friends flirting with the two older boys, who got out of the car. The younger boy was still sitting inside looking around.
“Yo come on I’ll show you the house,” Kiwi smiles.
They all get in the car and when they pull up to an old, dusty and dirty looking house Kiwi grins.
“Yea this is it.”
“Looks like we’ll be cleaning for a few days,” the oldest boy says in a familiar voice.
“You know you three look familiar,” Kiwi frowns.
“Kati they are the Jonas Brothers.”
Kiwi looks the three boys over and her mouth drops. She hadn’t realized before than that they were her favorite band and her words stop in her throat as she looks them over.
“Oh wow…”
“Kiwi why are we your friends?”
“Cause without me life would be boring,” Kiwi replies.
“That is very true…”
“So I like your house…” Kiwi says with a laugh.
“Not funny. If we had known it looked like this we probably wouldn’t have even thought of renting it…”
“Well I think we could help you fix it up. We could make curtains and help… clean…” Kiwi says looking at the ruins of the house.
“Yea… I’ll make curtains just don’t make me go in there. I’m allergic to dust and that will kill me,” the blond says.
“Come on Joe. Let us go clean and find you a bed room…”
Joe follows after the black haired girl and Kevin walks off with the blond leaving Kiwi and Nick alone.
“There is an old tree house out back. Want to play in it?”
“What does that have to do with cleaning?”
“Nothing but hopefully while we are outside they will clean and we won’t have to,” Kiwi grins with a little smile.
“Good point,” Nick says with a laugh.
They run to the tree house and when they get inside Nick looks around inspecting every inch as Kiwi sits down in a familiar spot.
“Wow this is really cool.”
“Yea I know.”
“Whose tree house was this,” Nick asks her?
“Andrew and I used to play here.”
“Andrew?”
“My old best friend. He moved away about eight years ago. No one has been here since then,” Kiwi replies.
“Oh… Sorry.”
“It’s cool…”
“So what did you guys do up here?”
“Everything and anything. I got my first kiss here. Andrew and I did everything we could while we had the time. He was my first boyfriend. So tell me about you.”
They spend the next few hours talking and getting to know one another before both phones start to play a Jonas Brothers song causing them both to laugh. It only takes a minute for them to figure out that everyone else noticed they were gone. It only takes a few minutes for Kiwi to realize that she had been flirting with Nick without realizing it. She does that a lot. The two leave the tree house and when they get to the real house they are truly shocked. The house looked nice when it got cleaned up.
“Wow apparently you guys do good work,” Kiwi says her eyebrow raised.
“You are horrible Kati we just did all this work while you flirted with Nick. And by we I mean Joe and me and by Joe and me I mean me. Why am I the only one who give a crap about this house and making sure you people can live in it. I have a nice house on the non country side of town. That my maid cleans. You people seriously make me so mad,” the black haired girl frowns.
“Just cause you are uber rich. Besides you know you love to do it S,” Kiwi replies.
“Unfortunately. Well I get to go have dinner with the family. Have fun,” S says walking off.
“And I have to go. Mom said if I missed dinner one more time this month I would be grounded from seeing you and S. So I’m out,” the blond smiles.
“Well I have nothing to do which I guess means I am going home…”
“You could hang out with us,” Nick smiles.
“As nice as that sounds we have plans so bye,” Joe says grabbing Kevin’s arm and dragging him out of the house.
“Looks like it’s just you and me… What do you want to do,” Nick grins at her?
“Get a pizza delivered… to the tree house. Sad thing is they will do that. You tell them the address and be like yo I’ll be in the tree house and the guy will bring the pizza up the stairs,” Kiwi grins.
“Cool.”
They go back to the tree house, order a pizza and enjoy each other’s company. It’s not long before they realize how much they have in common. After a few hours Nick looks over at Kiwi and says something softly.
“Would you like our first kiss in the tree house?”
Kiwi looks shocked at Nick and nods leaning over. Their lips touch softly and she grins before leaning back to kiss him again. It was love in a tree house.
