Liv let the wind blow away the hurt bleeding inside her. A full moon peaked out from behind tormented clouds and shown down on her, reaching down its rays within her grasp—as if to bring light to her thoughts. An old fear crept up to capture her soul. It was the feeling of being unwanted. She had never been loved before… not until she’d met Joe. Her mother never had time for her when she was alive. She was always on some scientific project. Ms. Johnson hated her, and Liv’s every move was monitored. She never had the freedom to do anything. Then Joe came. He rescued her aching soul and taught it to fly again. She finally felt something she had rarely felt before—and that was happiness. That past year had been the best in her life. And now it was all crushed. She realized that without Joe, she couldn’t breath. He was what kept her stable and strong.
“Liv?!” someone gasped from behind her suddenly, wrenching her from her thoughts.
She spun around and sighed when she saw it was only Joe. Then immediately she caught herself and turned her back to him.
Liv felt the post shake as Joe climbed up beside her. Was he really coming to apologize… or just make her feel better? She looked over at him, and in the moonlight she noticed something she didn’t expect. Little glints of light sparkled down his cheeks. He had been crying. Something had happened, and it wasn’t good. Joe couldn’t even bring himself to look at her. He just glanced and then gave a weak grin.
“Hey…” his voice cracked.
She just stared at him for a moment, knowing she had to say something, but not finding the right words. She suddenly realized after a minute he looked very uncomfortable. She knew her gaze was strong, and could easily bore into people. So she looked away.
“Umm… hey…” Joe said, suddenly getting down from his place next to her. “Maybe I should go…”
“No…” Liv whispered, and then suddenly realized he hadn’t heard her when he turned and began walking away, she cried, “No! Joe… please!”
He stopped, but didn’t turn.
“I… I need you,” she sniffed as a tear just made it’s way down her cheek. “I need someone to help me… or…” suddenly the tears just flooded from her. She began sobbing. “Or my world’s just gonna collapse…”
Joe immediately turned and ran to her as she began loosing her balance sobbing so hard. He caught her in his arms and held her there, letting her emotions run. He suddenly realized he was the one that made her feel secure. Even though he felt like breaking down himself, there was something about this moment that helped him feel somewhat at ease again. Maybe it was that he finally knew what she was so upset about. It was him.
“Shh…” he said, stroking her dark curls. “Hey… it’s gonna be alright,” he tried encouraging. “I’m here.”
So yeah... there's just a piece of it:-) tell me your thoughts--and I'll tell you mine:-)
