“Go ahead.” smiled Rob ushering another girl in front of us. She was shocked at a loss of words, just a while ago I had seen her practice what she was going to say out of index cards.
“Hi…” she looked at us without blinking “I’m Jenna…”
“Hey Jenna, I’m Kevin, This is Joe and this is Nick” Kevin pointed at us
“Nice to meet you.” I added
“I’m, like your biggest fan!” she squealed turning on her camera.
You would think I was used to this by now, but no I wasn’t, our fans always surprised me. I mean why would they get star struck for my brothers and I? I was the same kid that lived next to you and put sand in your hair.
I watched her drop her camera and reach down to pick it up “Can I take a picture?”
“Sure!” Nick laughed handing Rob the camera.
She walked towards us and stood beside us holding Kevin’s waist with both her arms. I smirked at him as the camera flashed.
“Can we take another one? I wasn’t ready.” I rubbed my eyes
Rob nodded and put four fingers in the air and began counting down “2,1”
Flash.
I fluttered my eyes, as the light spots in the room grew smaller once again.
“Thank you for coming.” Kevin smiled giving her a hug
She looked at him in awe and almost left without hugging us.
“Bye.” Nick and I laughed
“She loves me.” Kevin whispered over to us
“Kevin one, Nick five thousand” I laughed
Nick smirked and Kevin shoved me.
“Five thousand is such a small number Joseph.” Nick frowned pulling out a fresh sharpie
“The rest of them love me” I gave them a crooked smile
“Psshhh” They both laughed at me
“Alright boys, that’s it for today.” Rob came by our side and started leading us outside.
“You wont be needing that.” I snatched the black marker from Nick.
I opened it and signed my name on a poster they had in the room “Now its complete.”
“Don’t think so highly of yourself,” Kevin frowned stealing the marker and signing his own name. He handed it to Nick, I watched him sign his name then put the marker back into his back pocket.
“Starbucks anyone?” Kevin breathed in the outdoor air.
“You guys go, I’m going to watch a movie or something.” I shrugged
“Alright then, Mom and Dad took Frankie…some place…” Kevin tried to remember
Nick smiled “ An arcade,”
“Yeah.” Kevin laughed waving to me.
I slowly walked towards the tour bus, kicking my heels and whistling Savin’ Me by Nickleback.
I walked on the dark road and started singing under my breath “Show me what its like, to be the last one standing…”
“Hey Joseph,” I looked up and couldn’t believe my eyes.
