Chapter 1
It was the usual busy, crazy and overwhelming week for the three brothers. But the end of this week had them smiling, they were going home. All looked forward to the comfort and warmth of own beds, freshly made cookies and hours of sleep. But Nick looked forward to something else. Or should I say someone else. The love of his life, Lilly. He hadn’t seen her in over a year and frankly who knew if she even remembered him.
Joe poked his head into the hotel room.
“Ready fro?” Nick nodded trying not to show how much he wasn’t. He collected the few belongings left and made his way ever so slowly to the open elevator doors. As usually Joe pressed every button possible and it took them three times as long to get to the lobby. Emerging outside, covered in hats, sungl*CENSORED* and as many baggy clothes they could fit on, they tried to get to the car without being seen. Trying to fit 4 boys, 2 parents and a mountain loud of luggage in one car did not work.
Squished against the window, barely able to breath, Nick tried to sigh but it came out more of a squeak. 3 brothers looked his way trying to figure out why the sound had come out of him. He smiled weakly trying, yet failing, to look back out the window. Joe, as usual, was lifting moods and acting absolutely crazy, turning up an old spice girl’s song and singing quite loudly along. Nick laughed, completely unaware how they were even related, but shrugged it off.
He watched the streets roll past and the blur of people in window shops. Some days he wished he could just blend in, be invisible. Maybe in Antarctica he could, but he was worried that somehow the penguins had found out and he’d be swarmed by a pack of penguins.
They jolted to a stop, sending Nick flying forward to hit the back of the seat in front. Rubbing his head he unbuckled himself and slowly slid out. Screams filled his ears and he winced, another day, another headache. He tried to hide his face but the curls were a dead give away. Big Rob attended to the luggage as the rest of family pushed through crowds to get to the entrance. Could they ever go anywhere without having cameras shoved in faces and people grabbing at anything they could get a hold of. They checked in and slumped into seats at their terminal, silently awaiting the women’s voice to announce their flight.
Nick fidgeted with his phone, should he tell her he was coming home? The women’s voice came loud and clear over the intercom announcing that their flight was ready to board. He shoved the phone in his pockets, deciding he could do it later. Boarding the plane was easy and they settled in quite comfortably.
Ah, first class, they sure knew how to please a boy. Nick put his seat as far back possible, trying to shut out Joe’s constant attempts at picking up one of the flight attendants, he was failing miserably. He drifted off to a much needed sleep and dreamed of her, in his arms once again.
Turbulence woke sleeping Nick and he cursed under his breath, he was actually enjoying his peacefulness. He looked to his right and found a sleeping Joe, drool hanging from his mouth, to his left Kevin was lightly snoring. He smiled, he and his brothers may be huge megastars but off the stage they were just normal boys and this proved his point, they were so vulnerable, it was cute. Once again he took his phone out, staring aimlessly at it. Would she remember him? Would she even want to speak to him? Thoughts ran so fast through his mind he couldn’t keep up. He opened a new message and started to write, looking up he realised it really was pointless, sighing in defeat he closed his eyes drifting back to dream land.
“Nick, Nick get up, we have to go?” He rubbed his eyes, looking out the window and seeing that they weren’t in the sky anymore, but on solid ground. Home.
