Chapter 1

4 YEARS LATER.

Love is a funny thing. It comes and it goes, and sometimes it leaves forever. When I was younger, I always thought it was this wonderful thing that everyone was blessed with, and once they had it, they had it forever. And boy was I wrong. Things ended between Nick and I, obviously. I hadn’t heard from him at all, but I had seen him more than I would have ever wanted to. He and his brothers shot up to fame, dragging screaming fans wherever they went. Nick was my first boyfriend, so it was hard. Dating hadn’t come easy since that day he broke up with me.

The boarding school wasn’t my thing, so I moved in with Meech and finished high school in New York City. Now I was attending NYU, while interning at Teen Vogue. I had been there for five months now, and it was a great experience.

“Kaylee, I need that rack of dresses, pronto!” I watched as a tall, thin, blonde girl ran over to where I was standing, wheeling a loaded metal rack along with her. “Thank you,” I smiled as she nodded and walked back to her desk.

Letting out a deep breath, I sunk into my big black chair, shutting my eyes for a quick moment. The work was long and hard, especially since I was practically in charge of this office, even as an intern. I stood back up and spent the next half an hour sorting the dresses by the order they would be worn in for the upcoming celebrity event Teen Vogue was hosting next week.

When I had finally finished, I grabbed my large silver Gucci bag and strolled out into the Friday New York spring evening. Flowers were blooming from the many trees in Central Park as I walked past, kids and adults running and playing through the park. I finally made it to my apartment that I shared with my still two best friends, Keiko and Meech. Meech and I eventually sorted out our little disagreement that had occurred over four years ago. Now the three of us lived together, and things couldn’t have been better.

Tossing my bag onto the granite countertop, I read over the scribbled note tucked under the coffee pot. The two of them had gone out to an 18-and-older bar for a while, telling me to meet up with them. They weren’t allowed to drink, seeing as Keiko was 20 and Meech was only 19. I called Keiko quickly, letting her know that I was too tired to go out, but that they should stay out as long as they want.

I made a box of mac-and-cheese then retired to the couch for the evening, flipping through the channels on TV. Not much was on at 10:30 in the evening; just the usual movies and talk shows. As I continued pressing the up button, my hand froze when I saw an all-too familiar face flash across the screen. I knew I shouldn’t have, but I forced myself to watch and listen as the host interviewed a popular band.

“So, I know you get this a lot, but are any of you three seeing anyone?”

I held my breath, waiting for answer. My throat constricted when the camera stopped on the curly-haired boy I once knew and loved, his mouth opening to speak.

“I’m actually still dating Ashlee Smith,” he stated proudly. “We’ll be going on four years pretty soon.”

Blinking back the tears, I shut the TV off, pushing those last words out of my mind. He was suddenly coming back to haunt me, and I had a feeling the TV wouldn’t be the last of it.

Carly. I'm so happy that you finally posted the sequel. I was starting to be a little lost. I really wasn't too sure where I was going to post my nothing to do with the story comments.

And that chapter took me forever to read, because someone (kaylee) kept interrupting me. That little flashing bar thing at the bottom of my screen telling me I had an new IM, is the most annoying thing in the world when you are trying to read a new chapter.

AND...Eeeppp. Nick and I are still dating. AND Kaylee is in this story!!
