Chapter 1

    After a long, tiring, suspenseful ride to my new home, it was now sunset and my mind was going haywire.  I stepped out from the limo and slowly started for the house, but stopped at the sidewalk.  I made sure to take a good look at the house; the aligning of the palm trees along the sides of the house, the large balcony with the massive columns, and the way the light just hit the water droplets on the plants that made them shine.  There was a slight breeze that came by with the scent of ocean water that stung my face.  There were four cars outside; a BMW, a Mustang, a Hummer, and even a motorcycle.  Just one look at the place told me exactly what the family would be like.  Stuck up.  And boy was I right when out stepped a group of people, each looking like they were just at some fancy sports club or something.  The father had on a pair of blue plaid shorts with a blue dress shirt and a yellow sweater over top, he looked like he had been golfing, and not even broke a sweat.  The mother had on a bright yellow sun dress with some white pumps.  The girl, who appeared to be about 16, around my age, had on a white tennis outfit with some tennis shoes that were blinding by way the light hit them.  The little boy, who seemed to be around 7, had on a red plaid shirt tucked in to his khaki shorts.  The whole family had on plastic smiles; each looking perfect, with their perfect posture,their perfect teeth, their perfect hair, their perfect lives.  But one look at me, their smiles slightly turned into looks of disgust.  They each wiped of the dirty looks, except for the girl, that is.  I looked down at my converse shoes, ripped fitting jeans, and my hoodie over top of my vintage tee.  I walked up to the family, the daughter continuing to look me up and down in disgust.  But the little boy, he seemed to look at me with curiosity, and a hint of admirement.  I smiled down at him, and he smiled back, bouncing on his toes.
    You got to give everyone a chance, Izzy.  Don't judge a book my its cover, Ben would say.
    I know, I know, I answered back in my head.
    "Hi Isabella, its nice to finally meet you!" the lady said. I cringed slightly at her calling me Isabella.  I hated it when people called me that.
    "Hi, its nice to meet you too.  But you can just call me Izzy, thats what everyone else calls me," I smiled nervously at their blank expressions. "Or you can call me Isabella."
    "Hello, I'm David," the man said shaking my hand. "And this is my wife, Amelia, my son, Tyler, and my daughter, Andrea.  We are very happy to have you here.  Welcome to your new home."  I smiled as we headed inside.  Welcome to your new home.  I've heard that sentence many times, and there was one time I believed it; that it was actually my home, my family.  But no, I messed it all up because I was a mountain of trouble like I have been called many times.  And there is no way I'll be as close to this family as I was to the ones I truly considered family.  My thoughts were interrupted by some snapping sounds.
    "Snap out of it!" yelled a voice.  I looked up and came face to face with Andrea.  Glancing around the room, I saw a bright white room; white walls, white sheets, white furniture, white everything.  "This is your room.  Mom didn't want to paint it or anything because she didn't know what you would want. Looking at you, I think I know exactly what color should be in here," she looked me up and down. "I'm thinking a yellowish color, like you know.....vomit."
    "Excuse me?!" I snapped.  I started toward her but kept my cool, I just got here, I don't need to be kicked out of this family already.  I was about to say something when she continued.
    "I could easily cover this room with that fitting color; just show me the rest of your wardrobe,"  I clenched my fists, dearly wanting to knock her lights out, but instead I just brushed past her, making sure to bump into her hard enough to make her stumble.  I mumbled an "oops" before making my way to my dresser to unpack.  
    I gently took out my professional camera.  It was an old camera, but it made every picture just perfect.  Taking pictures was my life.  Something about taking pictures, and knowing that you captured the perfect moment, and keeping that memory forever gave me this special feeling that I couldn't even begin to explain.  Especially when you go from family to family like me, you need some way to remember those memories, or in my case, at least try to remember who you have been with.  I carried my camera everywhere with me, and if something ever happened to it, I think I'd go insane.
    "Whats this? Trash? Here I'll throw it away for you," Andrea grabbed my camera but I quickly stopped her by grabbing her wrist, startling her.  She stared at me wide eyed.
    "Do. Not. Touch. My. Camera." I said calming down from the sudden panic that took over me.  She looked at me, confusion spread across her face.  She decided not to push me any further, and just dropped the subject, rolling her eyes.
    "Whatever!  Mom wants you to try to put on some decent clothes, not like you have any, and come downstairs for dinner, it's ready," and with that she left. Finally.
    After searching through all my clothes, I finally found something decent enough to wear for dinner, and headed downstairs.  The sight before me when I entered the dining room, made me feel like it was Thanksgiving.  There was a turkey in the center of the table, and lots of little side dishes scattered throughout the massive table.  I took the only seat left, which was by Tyler.  He looked up at me shyly, then returned to his food.
    After dinner, I felt like I was about to blow from how full I was.  I excused myself after dinner to my room, telling them I didn't feel too good.  I went in my room, grabbed the remote, and snuggled under my covers watching tv.  My real reason for coming in here was because of Andrea.  She made quiet remarks during dinner, making sure nobody heard, so I had to leave before I did something I knew I would regret.  I heard footsteps coming up the stairs, and soon made their way into my room.
    "Mom wanted me to make sure you were okay," Andrea said crossing her arms.  She was obviously here against her will, but a determined look spread over her face. "Listen, I know you left because of me, and I don't blame you.  But let me tell you, this is my family, my house, my life, and I always get my way.  I don't want you here, and I can tell that no one else wants you here except Tyler because, for some weird reason, he is fascinated by you.  I am going to do whatever it takes to get you out of here.  This is my world, and I don't need someone who can't be excepted by anyone, and who looks like they stepped out of a junkyard, to be apart of it, m'kay?"  She flipped her hair, a proud look on her face.  This time she went too far.
    "No, you listen here, princess!  This is not your world; you need to stop being such a selfish brat, and except the fact that the universe does not revolve around you.  And don't you dare bring my personal life into this, you have no idea what I've been through and you have no right to even rub it in. You need to get your head out of your-" I was cut off by a soft voice.
    "Izzy," I looked over and saw Tyler in the doorway.  Andrea left with an astonished expression, acting like nothing I said was true.  "Are you okay?" I smiled at how sweet he was; complete opposite of his sister.
    "I'm fine, sweety.  I just need some sleep," He came over and gave me a hug, which I proudly accepted with a kiss on his cheek. "Good night, hun."
    "Good night, Izzy," And with that he went to bed.  And so did I, not prepared for the long night ahead of me.
