“Hayleigh, c’mon, follow me” I grabbed my girlfriend’s hand, guiding her into the park, that had a pathway lined with huge trees and lit by Christmas lights.
“Nick, what is it?” She giggled, following me
“Ok, now close your eyes” I said
“Um, ok. Nick, seriously though, what is it?” She asked again
“Just close your eyes. Trust me” I said, and she closed her eyes.
I pulled a small box out of my pocket, taking her hand in mine yet again
“Can I open my eyes?” Hayleigh asked
“Yes” I said, and was already down on one knee
“Hayleigh, I love you. I love you more than anyone.” I started, and tears started to form in her eyes. “You’re amazing and beautiful in every single way. We’ve been through so much together, and I want to live the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?” I asked my love.
“Yes” Hayleigh answered, tears falling from her eyes.
I gently slipped the ring onto her finger, and rose to kiss her.
“I love you” she whispered
“I love you too” I told her, kissing her again.

“Okay, so now what’s the big surprise?” I asked my wife at dinner. She’d been telling me all day that she had a huge surprise for me, that’d be life changing forever.
“Ready?” she asked, taking my hand in hers
“Yes” I said. “Tell me!”
“We’re going to be parents” Hayleigh told me, looking me straight in the eyes.
It took a minute for me to grasp what she had just said “Parents?!” I asked
“Yes! I’m pregnant” Hayleigh said, a huge smile on her face
“Seriously?!” I asked, squeezing her hand in mine”
“Yes!” She shrieked
“Oh my God!” I exclaimed, wrapping my arms around her.
“I know!” Hayleigh squealed.
I kissed her lightly, and then kissed her more passionately again “Parents” I whispered.
“Parents” she whispered back, putting her hand on my face
I ran my fingers through her hair, placing my hand on her stomach
“Our baby is in there” I whispered
“Yes” she giggled, and kissed me again.

“So, the names we could pick if it’s a girl could be Amanda, Kaylee, Reagan, Teagan, Torii, Michelle, Natalie, Nevaeh, Jessica, Paige, or Erin” Hayleigh went over a list she’d made. We were deciding on baby names.
“And if it’s a boy, I’d love to name it Garrett, Grant, Blake, Ryan,
Jackson, or Josh” She said
“I have an Uncle Josh, remember?” I laughed.
“Oh right, scratch that” Hayleigh laughed, crossing that name off her list.
“Nick, come here” she said, placing her hand on her stomach
“What is it?” I asked curiously
“Put your hand right here” she told me, putting my hand on her stomach.
“Whoa” I said, feeling our baby kicking.
“That’s so cool” I said
“I know” she agreed, kissing me lightly.

“Honey” Hayleigh shook me awake, 9 months after she’d told me about us becoming parents.
“What?” I asked, not really aware of what she was saying.
“It’s time” she said.
“What?! Time, like, time, for like, the baby?!” I sat up, now aware of everything.
“Yes” she said. “I’m going to have our baby”
~6 Hours Later~
“He looks like his daddy” Hayleigh whispered as she held our new baby son in her arms, while I held our daughter. My wife had just delivered an unexpected set of twins.
“And she looks like her mommy” I said, kissing her forehead
“Garrett Jackson and Erin Lisa” Hayleigh stated their names
“Garrett Jackson and Erin Lisa” I restated, feeling an amazing feeling as I looked at our new family.

“Mom, no, please, don’t” My daughter, Erin, cried next to my wife in the hospital
“Honey, remember, I love you, and I always will” Hayleigh told her
“I love you too Mommy” Erin cried, hugging and kissing her mom for what would be the last time.
“Mom, why? Why now? Why ever?” Garrett, my 20 year old son, asked, trying to hold back tears.
“This is the way it has to happen. I love you Garrett, remember that. Always remember me. Be strong” Hayleigh told him, and Garrett nodded, hugging and kissing his mother.
“Baby, please, hang on” I begged, taking Hayleigh’s hand in mine
“Cancer isn’t a good thing honey. Not everyone lives through it, and I’m one of them. I’ll always be with you. Always. I love you so much, and always have, and always will. Never forget me, ever. Promise me that” she said, squeezing my hand
“I promise I will never forget you. How could I?” I asked, letting tears slip.
Hayleigh leaned up and kissed my more passionately than she ever had before.
“I love you” Hayleigh said, now letting tears slip also
“I love you more than the stars and the sun” I whispered
“I love you more than the moon and the flowers” Hayleigh told me, laying back down.
“It’s time” she said, as I wiped a tear from her face.
“No, Mom, no, please, no” Erin begged.
“It’s okay Erin. I’ll always be with you” Hayleigh said, the heart meter going fast
“Mom! Please! Don’t do this, no, please, we need you” Garrett begged her too
“Garrett, it’ll be okay. Trust me. I love you both. Always remember that” She told them, and the cried harder
“I love you” Hayleigh told me, kissing me one last time
“I love you too” I said, tears falling fast, as I held her in my arms
“Remember me. Always, always remember me. I love you all” Hayleigh said
“Mom!” Erin gasped
“No, Mom, You can hang on, please!” Garrett cried

Life never was the same, ever, again.
I was seriously almost crying writing that last part.
Sorry it was so sad. I know mine are usually happy and stuff, but I had a dream about this the other night, but it was my husband who died and I just revearsed everything.
