Every Summer (one shot for Rachel)

Ok, so my computer has been broken and have been super busy (haha. that making me laugh. SUPER BUSY? that sound so lame. if you actually get what I am talking about, tell me!) but I am going to try to post like super fast from now on. Probably not another one tonight, but I will try for tomorrow unless I have a lot of homework.

Somewhere in the distance
the radios beckoning me on I feel
I’m right back here with you again
I wonder if you’re listening
Does it make you think about the time
We ran out laughing in the summer rain

oh baby

“Kevin stop!” Rachel giggled as Kevin carried her out in to the rain.

“That is what you get for being late. AGAIN.” He laughed back as he set her down on the soggy grass.

She grabbed his hands and began dancing as the rain soaked through their clothes. Her giggle echoed through his neighborhood as curtains opened, people peeking through to see what all the noise was.

“Uhh…Rachel, I think people are staring…” Kevin whispered as Rachel swayed back and forth.

“So. Who cares. We are having fun, and I don’t care what they think.” Rachel said as her feet lifted off the ground and into the air once again.

“Hey I was in the middle-” her sentence cut off as Kevin’s lips met hers. They stood there kissing for a good two minutes as the rain continued to pour down.

They broke apart and Kevin held her in his arms, stroking her wet hair.

“I love you. I hope we can stay like this forever.” Kevin whispered in her ear.

“I love you, too.” Rachel sighed as she listened to his heartbeat.

I’m caught up in the Monday blues
I can barely take my mind off of you
It’s just a silly song about love
And here comes the chorus

Kevin stumbled out of bed and raced into the bathroom, shutting the door in Joe’s face and locking the door.

“Hey! I called shotgun on the shower!” Joe yelled through the door.

“Haha. You snooze, you lose. Ha! Get it. You snooze? Cuz you were sleeping?” Kevin laughed.

There was silence on the other side of the door.

“Oh, forget you!” Kevin yelled as Joe laughed and walked away.

Kevin gazed at himself in the mirror. Large bags hung under his eyes and his hair stuck out every which way.

          I hate Mondays. He thought.

He jumped in and out of the shower and quickly finished in the bathroom so Joe could go, and they wouldn’t be late. His eyes were on the floor as he walked out and he felt a hand on his shoulder.

“Four more days, bro, four more days.” Joe assured Kevin as he slid through the bathroom door.

Yeah. Kevin thought. Four more days until I get her back.

Every summer has a song
That reminds me of the good times that passed
If only they could last forever
And when they play it on the radio it takes me back to the last time we were
Dancing somewhere
The DJ playing it all night long
Every summer has a song

Rachel gazed at the light blue dress in front of her, thinking back to the night that she danced with Kevin all night long. She remembered the summer, and how they would go dancing every night and he would hold her close to him, his scent floating up her nose.

Will he remember? She thought to herself as she set it aside to be worn three days later.

So we're by the ocean
When I held you in my arms you
Swore you never knew a love like this before
Watching the horizon
We wondered if the sun could ever shine
Forever, smiling on us evermore oh baby..

Kevin rested his head against the window as the scenery flashed by him. His mind was getting more clouded as the days counted down until he would see her again. He though back on the last memory they had together before he left.

Kevin wrapped his arms around Rachel’s waist as he rested his chin on her

head and stared out at the vast blue ocean swaying before them, the sun hovering as it prepared to set. He knew that this would be the last sunset they would see together for a long while, and he wished that there was some way he could freeze time and stay with her forever.

“I am going to miss you.” She whispered as a tear threatened to creep down her cheek.

“I will be back before you know it. I just wish you could come with me. It won’t be the same without my biggest fan watching.” Kevin sighed as he grasped her hand.

“I just hope you don’t forget me.” Rachel said as the tears finally let loose and fell, leaving little puddles on his shirt.

“Don’t cry!” Kevin said as he spun her around and held her close. “There is no way I could ever forget you. You are the one person who keeps me going. You are the light of my day, the music in my soul.”

They stood there for another hour wrapped in each others warmth before they tore apart and turned their separate ways, him leaving for the start of his career, and her going home to wait.

And then the band beat all night long
And we laughed until the break of dawn
Sining silly songs about love
And here comes the chorus

Rachel danced in her car to his music as she drove home to a newly cleaned house. She rushed upstairs and put his music on in her room, the sounds echoing through her whole house as she got ready for bed. She set her outfit for the next day out on her dresser, then brushed her teeth and washed her face,

She climbed into bed and turned on her side feeling the moon shine down on her as her eyes slowly shut.

“One more day.” She sad out loud before she drifted off to sleep.

Every summer has a song
That reminds me of the good times that passed
If only they could last forever
And when they play it on the radio it takes me back to the last time we were
Dancing somewhere
The DJ playing it all night long
Every summer has a song

There’s a picture of the past
A memory of you
To make the moment last

Kevin raced around the hotel room, shoving his things into his bag. He stopped in front of the mirror, straightening his tie as he yelled to Joe.

“Joe! Hurry up! And make sure Nick is ready, too!”

“Kevin, calm down, she’s not going anywhere, we are not going to be late!” Joe mumbled as he sleepily gathered his things.

“You know how much I need to see her!” Kevin sighed as he made sure he looked perfect.

“I know, Kev, I know.” Joe said as he led Kevin out of the hotel room.

Rachel quickly slid on her dress as she combed through her blonde hair. She ran over to her dresser and grabbed the necklace that Kevin had given her, sliding it around her neck.

She quickly put on some eye shadow and mascara to bring out her green eyes and bounced down the stairs. She slid on her shoes and made her way to the couch, anxiously awaiting the moment that she had looked forward to for months.

Her eyes were glued to the clock as it blinked 5:59pm. It seemed like the next minute was hours long, and as the clock struck 6, the doorbell rang.

On time. Like always. Rachel thought as the butterflies banged against the side of her stomach, her shoes clicking against the floor as she rushed to the door.

Every summer has a song
That reminds me of the good times that passed
If only they could last forever
And when they play it on the radio it takes me back to the last time we were
Dancing somewhere
Every summer has a song
That reminds me of the good times that passed
If only they could last forever
And when they play it on the radio it takes me back to the last time we were
Dancing somewhere
The DJ playing it all night long
Every summer has a song

Every summer has a song...

He flung forward and wrapped his arms around her as soon as the door opened. As he breathed in, the sweet scent of her hair filled his nostrils. She held on tight, never wanting to let go. They stood there for what seemed like forever, and as they finally pulled apart, he pulled her into a soft, sweet kiss.

“I missed you.” Kevin whispered in her ear as he rubbed her back.

“I missed you more!” She laughed as they walked out the door, the bright summer sun cascading down on them

“I doubt it.” Kevin argued playfully as they walked down the street, the warm breeze brushing softly against their skin.

“I love summer. It is so beautiful.” Rachel sighed.

“Not as beautiful as you.” Kevin whispered so she could barely hear it. She gave his hand a tight squeeze as the made their way past the many downtown shops to a quiet corner where they sat and held each other close.

“I can’t believe we have been apart so long.” Kevin sighed as he stared once again at the sunset.

“Another summer, Another sunset.” Rachel laughed as they stared out into the night.
