Chapter 1: Starting Another Mission
*Julia’s POV*
I woke up to my alarm blaring into my ear. I turned it off a slowly got up. Ugh, another day. I got and turned my iPod speakers on to listen to my play list. I make one for every job. This one starts with Get Your Shine On by Jesse McCartney (hint hint wink wink. Get it? If you don’t look at the prologue again.) I took a quick shower and blow dried and straightened my kind of long light brown hair. Then I applied some make-up and changed into my jean shorts and my red baby doll shirt. I threw on some flip-flops and looked at my iPhone. I had a new message from the Boss.
“OK, the job has been completed, end it. When you have, come to base and I’ll fill you in on your next assignment.” Boss said through my phone. I instantly deleted it and grabbed my light jacket. I have a driver who is also part of the business. He gets me around which sometimes can be hard with all the places I have to go and the time I have to get there. He dropped me off I Jesse’s house and drove around the corner, while I used my spare key to get in.
“Hey babe!” Jesse called to me from his living room. I could hear him watching the Hannah Montana episode that he appeared in.
“Hey….we need to talk” I began.
He put his full attention on me. “Shoot”
“Ugh…” I made it appear that I was nervous and sad to end it when truthfully it wasn’t that big of a deal. “I just…I don’t feel that close to you anymore. Jesse…I…don’t think we should…go out anymore.” I love the acting part. It’s so much fun!
“Oh” I saw the disappointment and sadness on his face. “Well…are you sure? I’m willing to give it another try!” He said; hope crossing his face only to disappear as I slowly shook my head, looking down. “Well…I’ll miss you. Really Julia, I hope we can get together as friends or something sometime” He said and got up and hugged me. I just nodded my head and left.
He took that way better than most boys. Hint: Hollywood boys are very stubborn and emotional. Many are even Bi-polar.
I got back into the car. “It’s over Jake, back to Base.” He drove me to our little headquarters that is disguised as a run down furniture store. Truthfully, it has a lot of surveillance and protection. You don’t want to get caught walking across that parking lot without an id card. I walked in and into the conference room. My sister, Dani, was already sitting down at the table.
Dani does the other part of my job. She is one of the 3 to 10 people that fix or do whatever is needed that the celebrity boy I’m ‘dating’ has messed up or is in his way and could hurt him or…us. It might be something that reveals who we are. Not just the distractions like me; but the whole spy community. Everything could be discovered and that…really doesn’t need to happen in order for this world to be safe.
I gave her a hug and sat beside her. She told me all about how they had to get some stuff from Jesse’s files and so forth. It’s really interesting. Soon the Boss came in. We gave him our full attention.
He slid us our files. I opened mine and examined it as he began to talk. “Three of them, Julia. Three boys. One will be your love interest. The other two…very close. Make sure they are completely honest with you. Make sure they believe you and become their best friends. Dani, your file tells you exactly what you need to get. Though I feel I should inform you both, this is going to be dangerous and risky. Not like any you’ve done before. Because…someone’s out there trying to kill them. We aren’t sure why but that doesn’t necessarily matter. Dani and the rest of the team will be around you more than often Julia, protecting you and the boys and making sure no one gets near you.” He looked at us both and Dani got up and left.
I looked down at my file.
