Chapter Three
Nick’s POV
“Who was that?” Joe asked when I rejoined them in the grocery store.
“Abigail” I sighed.
“Abigail who?” Kevin asked
I shrugged. “I don’t know, but I’m going to find her again. I will” I said determined.
“Good. Because she was kind of pretty” Joe patted me on the back.
I laughed. “Yeah, she was” I said, visualizing her pretty brown eyes and straight dark brown hair.
“Why’d you pay for her?” Joe asked.
“Because, she didn’t have enough money, and it was the right thing to do. I mean, if you can’t give back a little, what’s the point, right? And it’s not like it was a big deal. 6 bucks, ya know?” I said.
“OH MY GOSH!! IT’S THE JONAS BROTHERS!!!!!!!!!” I heard a loud shriek from behind me.
“It’s KEVIN!!” A couple screamed, running up towards my brother.
“JOE!!” A few others ran up to Joe
“And NICK!!” A few ran up to me.
“Nick, can I take a picture?”
“Nick, can I have an autograph?”
“Please sign this!! Please!!”
“Will you marry me?!”
“Take me to prom, please!!”
Tons of girls shrieked as I signed as many things as I could.
“Thanks guys!! You’re all amazing fans! We love you so much” Kevin said, as Big Rob came to our rescue.
“We love you!” I said, waving as we walked out of the store.
We seriously needed Big Rob to be with us anywhere and everywhere we went.
Abigail’s POV
My feet burned as I ran across the hot gravel and into my trailer. I had shoes on, and but my feet still burned. It could’ve been because of running so far, and I was a little out of shape, seeing that my mom’s idea of exercising is flipping channels on the TV, and I don’t live in the safest area…so it’s not like I can walk outside and run around or something.
My mom wasn’t home, surprise, surprise (not).
I put away the groceries and collapsed onto the couch.
I hate to say this, but I almost wish that the children’s protective services would find us, and take me away. I was living miserably. Sure, it was nice to be with my mother again, but was I really better off? I mean, ever since I was taken away the first time, all I wanted was to be reunited with my mom. But now that I was, I realized how nice all those other homes really were.
Chapter Four
Abigail’s POV
“Abigail!” Mom yelled for me from my bedroom.
“Yes ma’am” I came running
“Fix dinner” she demanded.
Without a word, I made my way into the kitchen and started to make some hotdogs for her and her boyfriend.
“Thanks honey” Mom said, trying to sound perky.
Whatever I thought.
I went back into the kitchen and ate my dinner, put away all the dishes and went back into my room.
I was scared again. Scared of this guy my mom was now ‘in love with’. She’d been ‘in love’ a lot. I mean, she’s had 4 kids; Me, and my three sort of brothers. They all live with their genetic fathers. Mainly because my mother and their fathers divorced, and children’s protective services wouldn’t let them live with my mom, and if they did, the dads didn’t really want them too, so they took full custody of the kid.
I was even a little tempted to call children’s protective services and report my own mother. That’s as low as it gets.
Nick’s POV
“So, Nick, we hear that you paid for some girl at a grocery store recently. Is it true?” I reporter asked.
I hesitated to answer. “Uh, yeah, it is. She needed a little extra cash, and I had a couple bucks, ya know. It’s the least I could do”
“That was sweet of you. Do you know this girl?” she asked.
I shook my head. “No, I just know her name. It’s Abigail. Maybe I’ll see her again though”
“Maybe she’ll see this, and she’ll know you’re looking for her” she said with a smile.
I shrugged. “Maybe”
Maybe, or maybe not.
We continued walking past the wall of reporters and fans, towards the premiere party (and showing, of course) for the new Ashton Kutcher movie. I was excited. I’d wanted to see this movie really bad for a while now.
“So, are you going to try to find here?” Joe asked me as we sat down in the theater.
I shrugged. “I’m not going to, like, totally live on it. I’ll try to find her. I’d like to find her. But, if I don’t, I don’t, and that’s that”
“We’ll help you” Kevin said.
“Yeah, we totally will. We’ll be in LA for a couple of days. And maybe she’s a fan, and will come to a show!” Joe told me
“Thanks guys” I said, and the lights dimmed and the movie started.
Chapter Five
Abigail’s POV
It’d been a day and a half since I’d met this mystery man. He probably didn’t even remember me now.
But even if he didn’t, he was the only thing I thought about. He was stuck in my mind, and no matter what I did, I couldn’t get him out.
“What’s wrong baby?” My mom asked me, while we ‘bonded’ as she called it (not really) watching goofy soap operas.
“Nothing” I sighed.
“You’re my daughter Abigail, I know when something’s up” she said, trying to sound motherly, the person I sometimes thought she wasn’t.
I shrugged. “I, just, am thinking about someone”
“Who?” she asked.
“Just, this guy…”I said
My mom giggled. “You have a crush on a boy? Who? Where’d you meet him?”
“Grocery store. He, uh, helped me out with some stuff. I don’t even know his name though.” I said
“What does he look like?” Mom asked me.
“Brown, curly hair, brown eyes, kinda tall, but not too tall, cute smile, dreamy voice” I described him.
“Sounds nice. If you see him again, you can go out with him” My mom told me.
I smiled “If I ever see him again. I don’t even know his name”
Mom shrugged. “Oh well. So what do you think of Zach?” she asked
Not that she cared about my opinion on him, I lied “Uh, he’s great. I like him”
“Good! Well, uh, then, maybe, I could tell you something, important” she said slowly.
I snapped to attention “What?”
Mom hesitated. “We’re, uh, getting married….” She started.
Oh no.
“And, I’m, uh, pregnant…again” she finished.
Not. Again.
My life is ruined (even though it isn’t that great as it is)
Nick’s POV
“Is that her?” Joe pointed to a girl that looked like Abigail
“No” I said “She is taller, and had more freckles on her face”
Kevin sighed. “What does she look like again?”
“Brown, straight hair, brown eyes, freckles, not too many though, about my height, really cute” I described her, again.
“Do you know how many girls in Los Angeles look like that Nicholas?” Joe said sarcastically.
“But only one is Abigail” I said.
Kevin smiled “Okay, we’ll keep looking…I guess. Maybe she’ll come back to the grocery store” he suggested.
I hadn’t thought of that. “Maybe. But, she wouldn’t come back the day after she’d just been there. We should wait a week before we go back or so” I said
“Sounds good” Kevin agreed, and turned into a Starbucks.
Good old Kevin.
