Chapter Two
Kevin’s POV
“So what is something you love t do while on tour?” our interviewer asked as we got ready for our photo shoot.
“Uh, we love playing wiffle ball” Nick told her.
“Cool!” The interviewer said (whose actual name was Polly)
“So, any girlfriends?” Polly asked us.
How many times could we be asked this question?
“Nope” I said quickly.
“Fast reply Kevin” Joe laughed.
“So, who are your celebrity crushes?” Polly asked.
“Emma Watson and Jessica Alba” Joe replied.
“Camille Belle and Sophia Bush” Nick answered.
“And, uh, I like Carrie Underwood, Hayden Panettiere, and Ashley-Noel Sanders” I answered.
“Wow! Really? You like Ashley Noel? Do you have a thing for ice skaters Kevin?” Polly asked.
I shrugged. “She’s very pretty, and very talented. We were watching the pre-Olympic qualifiers on TV last night, and she made it. She’s very, very good”
“Yes she is. I think that she’s your age, too” Polly said.
I nodded. “She is”
“So, you’ll be in New York for a show in a few days. Are you excited? Anxious? Dreading It?” Polly asked. “Like, how do you feel before a show?”
“Definitely not dreading it” Joe said. “Really excited actually. This show sold out in 3 ½ minutes”
“Wow! That’s incredible. I bet you’re really syked for this show, huh?” Polly asked.
“Most definitely. We can’t wait. We’ve got a few surprises and tricks up our sleeves” Nick said.
“Don’t we always/” I laughed.
We left the photo shoot and started towards a Starbucks, my addiction.
“Hey Kevin, look at this” Joe said while we were sitting at a table.
“What?” I asked, and he handed me a newspaper that was laying there.
The front page read about the pre-Olympic qualifiers last night.
The main topic was Ashley-Noel, and how she’d always make it to qualifiers but never to the actual Olympics. It said that all the judges thought that she had a very good chance of actually winning this year, or at least just making Olympics.
It also read that she’d be in New York for a press conference the same time we’d be there. That, and the Olympic-qualifiers.
“Joe, we have…” I started to say.
“I know. I think we can still get tickets, too” Joe said.
“I wonder what hotel she’ll be at” I wondered aloud.
“Probably the Trump. Everyone stays there” Joe said.
“Probably” I agreed.
“What did I miss?” Nick asked, returning from the restroom.
“We’re going to the Olympic qualifiers for figure ice skating while we’re in New York” I said.
Ashley-Noel’s POV
“Ash” my best friend, Vanessa, elbowed me.
“What?” I asked, looking up from my Macbook.
“The Jonas Brothers are going to be in New York when we are. Look” Vanessa told me, showing me her laptop’s screen.
Vanessa and I had been best friends forever. She’s my manager’s daughter. And, as it just so happens, my manager is my uncle, so V is also my cousin. We’re like sisters though. She’s an only child, and I have a stupid 11-year old brother, Jason. And we’ve been even closer over the past few years because her mother passed away from cancer in 2001.
“Are you serious?” I asked knowing it was the truth.
I read their MySpace bulletin which told about their sold-out show and that they’d be in NY for a few days-the same days we would be, actually.
“We have to see if there’s any possible way that we can get tickets” V said.
“Already on it” I said, opening up Ticket Master in one window, the arena they were playing in another, and Tickets now in another.
“Someone’s bound to have a least 2 tickets” I said, submitting my ticket requests.
When they say sold out, they mean it.
No seats left.
Not even those one behind the pole in the very back in the farthest possible stop where you can’t see anything.
“No luck?” Vanessa asked, looking over my shoulder.
I shook my head.
“Maybe we could call the box office. Or they’d have tickets at the gate. Or scalpers! They always have scalpers outside venues like this. Everyone knows that” V suggested.
“Yeah, okay. We’ll go to the box office when we get there and see if they do, and if not, we can buy from the scalpers” I agreed.
“Sounds like a plan” she said.
“What’s a plan?” My mom asked, walking into mine and V’s hotel room.
“Our plan to try…” I started.
“And succeed at” V interrupted.
“Right. And succeed at getting Jonas Brothers concert tickets” I told her.
Mom rolled her eyes. “Those boys again?” she laughed.
“Mom” I gasped. “I have to meet them, or at least go to ONE concert”
Mom laughed. “Which one do you like again?”
“Kevin” I told her.
“And who do you like Vanessa?” Mom asked
“Joseph” she said.
“Who’s the other one? The curly haired one?” Mom asked
“Nick” we both said at the same time, in a duh tone.
“Oh, right, excuse me” Mom said sarcastically.
“You’re excuse” V said.
“Thank you Vanessa. Anyways, he’s the cute one” Mom smiled.
“SO NOT! Joe is” Vanessa shrieked.
“He is cute V. They’re all cute, just different cute” I said.
“True” V agreed.
Mom laughed. “You two are so weird”
“We’re not weird” V corrected her. “We just have a case of O.J.D.”
“I’m just waiting for you two to pick one of their songs to do a routine to” Mom said.
Vanessa and I exchanged glances.
“Well…” I started to say slowly.
Mom put her hand up. “Talk to Lloyd, he’s your coach, not me” Mom said, and left.
We HAVE to get tickets. I’ve never been to a concert, and I must go to one.
I also need to come up with a Jonas song routine with Lloyd.
