Well here ya go. Hopefully you like this. Normally I would post it tomorrow but I don't know when I'll be on. And note the names are made up.
I’ve always been great at tennis. My mom said I was a natural, and apparently she was right. Today was the final game, against the hardest team in the state. I woke up early to go to a run to get myself psyched. I got home just in time to take a shower and get ready. I wore my typical blue and white skirt with white top. My long brown hair was put up into a tight high pony tail. I was ready, ready to win.
We were finally off tour for once, and home. It was the day I was promising my long time neighbor, Alex, that I was going to go to one of her tennis matches. I wasn’t all that into tennis, but I promised her. And I always keep my promises. We all woke up around 9, Joe of course was up later, and cranky. I quickly had breakfast and kept thanking Kevin for driving me to Alex’s match. We finally got there and I started searching around for Alex. I didn’t realize how many people were going to be there. Just then when i thought I was going to spot Alex, I saw this amazingly gorgeous girl. She had long brown hair, and the most striking blue/green eyes. I wanted to walk up and say something to her when I finally saw Alex.
“NICK! You made it!” She squealed.
“I promised.” I laughed as I looked for the girl again. She was gone. I was a little disappointed.
I heard a girl scream as I was chatting with my coach about strategies. It was Alex. The best tennis player from the opposite team. And the worst part was that I had to go against her today. I finally left to get everything squared away in my head. 5 minutes later it was time to get pumped and kick that girls butt!
I found a seat about 4 rows up in the bleachers. I saw Alex smile at me as she got on the court. It was eerie, since everything got super quiet. Soon another walked out and my heart skipped a beat. It was her. The girl I saw earlier.
“Next up, Alex Weathers versus Caly Smith” The announcer said quickly. Caly. That’s her name. It was beautiful like her. The match soon started and all that was heard was the hits from the racket to the ball and the noises from each player. I know I was there for Alex, but I couldn’t keep my eye off of Caly. She was amazing.
The match went decently. I lost, but only by 1, so I was proud of myself. I shook my opponents hand as we walked off the court.
“Good job.” I said reaching for my water.
“Thanks you too. You were a lot better then I expected, no offense.” She said laughing.
“No worries. And thanks.” I said while sitting on the bench to take off my shoes. Just then a curly haired, brown eyed boy walked up to Alex. All i could do was smile. He was gorgeous.
“Alex, congrats!” He said giving her a hug. Maybe he was her boyfriend. I just smiled at him when he looked in my direction. “You did great too. Hi, I’m Nick.” He said while stretching his hand out for me to shake.
“Thanks. I appreciate that, I’m Caly.” I said shaking his hand. It was calloused but smooth at the same time.
I ran up to Alex before she walked away from the girl. I congratulated her and then immediately went towards the girl. She even had a beautiful smile. I tried not showing that I liked her but it didn’t really work.
“So are you Alex’s boyfriend?” She asked abruptly. Alex and I started laughing at the same time.
“Nick? No. He’s been my best friend since I could remember.” Alex said grabbing a towel from nearby.
“Oh. That’s cool.” She said with a huge grin.
“Sooo… is your boyfriend here?” I asked her nervously. please say no. please say no.
“Me? Boyfriend. Yeah right.” She said laughing sarcastically.
“Oh, really? You’re really pretty, why wouldn’t you have a boyfriend?” I asked quickly. My hands were shaking because of nerves or excitement, maybe both.
“You think I’m pretty? Thanks.” She said while turning away. When she looked back up her cheeks were rosy from blushing.
This super sweet, super gorgeous guy thinks I’m pretty. Oh my goodness. All i could do was smile while I was around him. Soon my coached yelled me over.
“Well sorry, I have to get going. It was really nice meeting you though, Nick.” I said as I walked away.
“Wait!” He yelled. I turned around to see him with a pen in his hand. I was confused at this point.
“Huh?” was all I said, trying to figure out his motives. I looked around to see Alex smiling and jumping up and down. Who knew.
“Can I get your number?” He said near silently. All I could do was nod. I quickly wrote my number down on his hand. Then I got yelled at by my coach.
“Hope to hear from you.” I said as I ran off. I couldn’t believe I got the nerves to say that. I looked over at him, he was staring at his hand. He looked up, nodded, smiled, then walked away. I didn't win the match, but to me, in my mind I won something more. And who knew, my favorite sport, could lead to something like this.
