Okaay, so I'm just going to say this because there was some drama up in an awards thread yesterday, and I don't particularly like drama. I'm going to try to phrase it as best I can.
Ya know, awards are a fun thing. It's a great opportunity to recognize many of the awesome fanfic writers we have around here. The first two awards have proven that, though there are still PLENTY of writers who should be recognized but haven't yet. However, I don't think it is a wise idea to have two awards going on at once. Some could say that all these people holding their own awards tarnishes some of the purpose of it. I don't believe that. However, I do think that it's best to stagger them. You can ask Ashley and Melissa, I was wary of putting up the ARM awards so soon. Timing is just one of those things with me. I LOVE the fact that all of these awards are going on, but I was wondering if maybe we could come up with some sort of compromise. I just think that with the idea of what awards like these actually are, it would be in the interest of the general population around JBF to reach some sort of agreement so there's only one going on at a time.
I don't mean to be catty or mean or ANYTHING in that respect. I think it's AMAZING that you guys are doing this. :) I just see the possibility of it becoming confusing, a bit weird, and just sort of an issue, if we've got e-mails and nominations and voting just ALL OVER THE PLACE. If you want to rip me apart for making this suggestion, I just ask that you please do it through pm (my pm name is my username, perfervid_heart) or through IM (my screenname is velmagirl71494). I REALLY don't want to start anything. I think that it would be easy to come up with a solution, a compromise if you will, that both parties are satisfied with and will keep those who are nominating and voting fairly at ease because if you think about it, two of these at once is a lot of work for them, too! :P
