Okay, so since our old thread broke, I decided to make a new one.
I don't have Jamie or Lindsey's old chapters, so I summarized their chapters. So, here it goes!
By the way, the real chapters (non-summarized ones) are from Bonnie's point of view!
Chapter 1 & 2
We're introduced to the characters, Bonnie (19 years old), Lindsey (17) and Jamie (14). They are a group people call the "Tree Huggers." Lindsey and Jamie go to the same high school. They make posters that are about saving the trees and earth. They crash concerts and events to let people know about global warming. That day's event? A Jonas Brothers signing.
Chapter 3
We quickly got in the car. Lindsey called shotgun, so she was sitting next to me in my green-blue hybrid Toyota Prius. Of course it was hybrid, I wouldn't have anything other than it! Yes, it was mine, not my parents. We were well off, but we didn't waste money. They are both environmentalists, so that's how I got to be where I am. I am 19 years of age. I know what you're thinking, 'What're you doing hanging out with a 14 year old?' but we grew up in the same neighborhood and we're great friends. I go to online college, so I can help my parents when they need it. I also visit my old high school, the one Lindsey and Jamie go to currently, so I can help them make their school more environment-friendly.
"Why does Lindsey always get the front?" Jamie complained.
"Because I'm older!!" Lindsey shot back.
"So? What's that have to do with anything? That just means you'll die before me!"
"Yeah, so I get to ride shotgun! Besides, I got to it first!"
"That's because you shoved me out of the way!!"
They continued bickering like siblings the whole ride to the Jonas Brothers' signing.
"Oh shut up! Jeeze! We're here! Jamie, if you want shotgun so bad, you get it on the way home!" I said, acting like a parent.
We ran out of the car, grabbing our posters from the trunk. I had to park a few blocks away, because the Verizon store's parking lot was small and there were many people there. We jogged to the store, and stared in awe at the sight before us.
There were so many people in the store that over half of the people were outside the store in a line, waiting to go inside and meet the love of their lives. Many of the people had bright colored posters like ours, but theirs were more on the line of 'MARRY ME!!' 'I WANT NICK'S KIDS OF THE FUTURE' and 'I LOVE YOU!!!!!!' Others had on t-shirts with the date and city we were currently in.
I then remembered something. We all had green marks all over each of us. That probably wouldn't help us convince the (mostly) girls to go green. We didn't have time to head back home and take a shower, so we'd have to deal with it.
I took a deep breath and led the way to what looked like the front of the building, judging by all the girls there.
"GO GREEN! SAVE THE TREES! GO GREEN! SAVE THE TREES!" we all chanted, waving our hand-made signs in the air. My blackish-brown hair blew in the wind. Suddenly, it became very quiet and all eyes were on us. We continued on, not loosing the enthusiasm in our voices. For another hour and a half, we kept chanting, hoping we would get to at least some of the girls.
A large, burly man made his way to us. I gulped. We've been doing this for a long time, but I still got nervous when people like him came towards us. I stopped in my tracks, hoping the man wouldn't do anything bad to us.
"Girls, please come with me." he bellowed. I nearly stopped breathing, because I was so nervous. I shot Lindsey and Jamie nervous glances. Usually, we were escorted out. I wondered what was in store for us. He led us to the back of the store. Girls shot us looks on our way. Why were they mad at us? We were probably going to be kicked out or something. The man walked us to the back door. The back door? Were we going inside? Did he think the reason we crashed the signing was because we wanted to meet the Jonas Brothers? We arrived in the main part of the building. There was a sheet separating the building. I assumed that was where the "famous boys" were. I heard screaming, squealing, "He's so hot!" and "OMJ"s. What did OMJ stand for? I have only heard of OMG. "Please stay here," the man said. I was starting to get worried.
We probably sat there for 45 minutes, just chatting quietly. Then, 3 boys emerged from behind the sheet. Just as I had thought, that guy thought we only wanted to meet those boys! Is he stupid? We actually care about our environment! As they approached, we quickly stopped our interesting conversation about one of Jamie's teachers.
"Hey girls!" one of the guys said. He had long, straight black hair that was covered by a beanie. We just looked at them. I was a bit mad that the guy thought we wanted to meet them, so I didn't say anything. Lindsey was preoccupied with fiddling with her thumbs. Jamie was just looking at them, smiling shyly.
"So umm, uhhh, what exactly are we doing here?" I asked nervously.
"We wanted to talk to you, that's all." One of the other boys said. He had curly hair and sideburns.
"Well, I know what you're going to say. 'Don't ruin our signing, go hug a tree. Going green is overrated, blah blah blah.' and I'm gonna say 'You should care more, its the people like you that have all the money in the world, but don't care and throw it away. The Earth is being ruined and you don't give a crap. It's not that hard to help out, yadda yadda yadda.' We've done this before, not just to you and we've heard it all.
"Actually, the reason we wanted to talk to you is because we support you." he said.
Chapter 4 & 5
The Jonas Brothers and the girls talk for a short while. Bonnie, Lindsey and Jamie are amazed that they support them. The girls get the boys' numbers before leaving.
Chapter 6
I knew better than to drive on the phone, and I didn't have any hands-free stuff, so I sat in the car and dialed the first phone number that looked somewhat legible. I had no idea who I was calling or if it was even the right number because all of the boys' handwriting was chicken-scratch.
I took a deep breath as the phone began to ring.
"Hello?" The voice said.
It sounded like Nick, so I took my chances. "Is this Nick?" I asked.
"No, it's Phillip." He said sarcastically.
"Well, Phillip do you happen to know anyone by the name of Nick Jonas?" I said back, playing along.
"Are you stupid?"
"I should be asking you that" I said smiling, even though he couldn't see it. The line was silent. Ha, I always win I thought to myself. "So anyway, about your concert. I guess we'll be there"
"Okay, cool! All three of you right? We just need to know so we can get you guys tickets"
"Yeah, just us three. And no need for tickets, we'll find our way in." I said mischievously.
"I don't wanna know, do I? Okay, well anyway, the concert starts at 7."
We said our quick goodbyes and hung up.
I turned on the car and headed to my house. Once we arrived at my house, we stepped out. I took a good look at it. There were many solar panels on a side of the roof. They created so much energy, we sold the extra to the electric company. That may be part of the reason we were so well off. We skipped inside and went straight to my room. I quickly told Lindsey and Jamie that I was going to wash the green marker off my arms. I headed to the bathroom and scrubbed my arms until the green was gone.
When I went back into my room, Jamie was on the computer and Lindsey was watching TV.
Since the girls were constantly over at my house, they have a small stack of clothes to change into. We all changed into new clothes after everyone had gotten the marker off.
It was about 2 o'clock, so we grabbed some snacks from the kitchen to munch on.
I padded to the computer in my room and went to Blackle. My fingers quickly typed in 'Jonas Brothers' and my jaw nearly dropped at the number of results showed up. Over 13 million. These people were huge. There were fansites, videos, merchandise, official websites and more.
I clicked a random link and learned a lot about them. They grew up in New Jersey, they had a little brother named Frankie, they were Christian and their career was kicked off by Nick. I decided to listen to their music, as we would be going to their concert later today. Some of their songs were good, but some I didn't like. 'Year 3000' was probably my least favorite, and not because in the year 3000, there probably wouldn't be any water left. In the year 3000, they would be dead. If "everyone bought our seventh album" it probably would have been out by the year 2020, at the rate they're producing a releasing albums. I know, it's just a song, but it doesn't make sense.
By 4 o'clock, Jamie and Lindsey joined me in 'researching' the Jonas Brothers.
We just hung out until about 5, talking about random things. I decided we should get ready to go, while I told them my plan to get into the venue.
We piled into my car and drove to the venue. I wasn't too surprised that the venue they were playing at was huge. In the front of the building, there was the black bus with 'Jonas Brothers' written in gold script. I found out that the boys didn't actually live in that bus; it was just one for show. The first thing I thought when I read that was "That's such a waste of gas!" I made a mental note to tell them about that later.
Lindsey, Jamie and I immediately put our plan into action.
-------------------------
We successfully got into the venue, backstage I might add.
I opened my phone and called Nick to tell them we got in. We greeted each other and I told him we had gotten inside and and asked him where we could find him. He nearly screamed at me when I told him and he muttered something about beefing up security. I assured him that security couldn't have caught us, even if we told them what we were doing. After much bickering, he gave us the room number and we headed to find them.
After a few minutes, we arrived at their dressing room. I didn't bother knocking and waltzed into the room.
"Hellooooooooo" Joe greeted us. We greeted each of them with a quick hug. The boys motioned for us to sit down on the couch. They asked us how we got there, so we explained. Kevin and Joe had the same reactions as Nick did minutes earlier. I took credit for the plan, so Lindsey and Jamie didn't get in any sort of trouble.
There was an awkward silence. "AWK-WARDD" Joe yelled. Since I watched their YouTube videos earlier that day, I laughed at the comment.
I couldn't stop myself. It had to be said, "I don't like your song or your fake bus." I blurted out. "Oh crap" I muttered to myself, my face flushing.
"What song? What fake bus?" Kevin asked, thoroughly confused. I didn't have to look up to know Lindsey and Jamie were glaring at me. They both shared the same feelings towards their fake bus, but we agreed to tell them about it nicely. That certainly was not nice. I quickly explained the 'fake bus' situation and found out by Joe, who had several Red Bulls moments before, that the bus was empty. No equipment, nothing.
"That weird 'Year 3000' is the song that bothers me" I said. Joe started singing it obnoxiously and danced around the room. I cringed slightly, but Nick and Kevin didn't do anything. I guess they were used to it by now. "It's just that none of it makes sense. In the Year 3000, you guys, me and Kelly Clarkson will be dead. You guys are releasing an album a year. I'd hope you guys would have more than 7 albums by that time." I ranted.
"You couldn't wait until later, could you?" Lindsey asked.
"Uhh, well... You see... Uhh..." I stuttered. "Sorry." I apologized, hanging my head.
"Well, actually, we didn't write that song. Sooo, it's cool... I guess." I heard Kevin say. I was instantly relieved.
"Wait, you don't like that song? I think it's awesome!" Jamie said. I had a feeling she was trying to impress a certain someone, but I couldn't say that to her because she would immediately deny the accusation.
We talked for a little while before I remembered something. I didn't know all of their numbers. "Hey Joe and Kevin? Can you add your number into my phone?" I asked.
"But we already gave it to you." Joe said, scratching his head.
"Yeah, if you call what you gave us chicken-scratch." I joked.
Joe pouted while Kevin and I exchanged phones, entered our numbers, took a picture of us and handed it back.
"I entered mister pouty-face's number in there too. No picture though, I don't think you want that showing up every time he calls." He pointed to Joe. I laughed.
"Hey, Bonnie? If you don't mind me asking, do you go to college?" Nick asked apprehensively.
"Oh yeah, of course! I go to online college. It's just easier for me." I was so tempted to say something like 'Nope, I dropped out of high school in 9th grade,' but I decided not to because that would be cruel and he seemed nervous asking.
The boys had to leave to get ready for the show, so we stayed back and talked. We decided to stay backstage for the concert because we didn't want to enjoy the concert with our hearing at our expense.
*Just so you guys know, Blackle is just like Google, but the background is black and it saves energy. Its pretty awesome. Go check it out and set to your homepage if you have Google. http://blackle.com
Chapter 7 & 8
Before the concert, they guys show the girls their stage. Lindsey notices that Joe is always by her side, smiling at her or touching her arms. At the concert, the girls hear the boys make an announcement about the girls and about saving the earth. After the concert, they decide to watch a movie. Jamie and Nick go for a walk outside, as Nick has already seen the movie. Jamie sees an injured dog outside. Jamie wraps her jacket around the body of the dog, waiting for Nick to come back with the others for help.
Chapter 9
We were watching the movie silently, when all of a sudden, Nick bursted through the room, out of breath.
"Whoa, there, you okay?" Joe asked cautiously.
"Jamie... dog... blood... help," Nick panted.
My heart sunk. Jamie was like my little sister, and if anything happened to her, I would be devastated. We rushed out of the room, following Nick.
When we arrived, I saw Jamie clutching a dog that had a jacket draped over her torso. I rushed her to side, examining the dog. I gently removed the jacket, noticing it was Jamie's. The dog probably had several broken ribs and a broken leg. I concluded that the dog had been hit by a car. I didn't want Jamie to know, because it would break her heart.
"Is she okay?" Jamie asked wearily.
"I don't think so. She's bleeding a lot. We should call for help." I answered.
Jamie pulled her cell phone out from her pocket and dialed for help. I assumed she called for the Animal Rescuers because Jamie somehow found a lot of injured animals. She hung up, looking a bit relieved.
"They'll be here in a few minutes." she informed us.
Jamie and I were sitting on the ground, while the rest of the people were standing, careful not to get their outfits completely soaked. It was raining hard, and Jamie and I's hair was soaked.
Jamie started shivering, and then I realized that she only had a t-shirt on. Nick pulled off his jacket and draped it over her shoulders. Jamie smiled brightly and whispered a quiet "thanks"
About 10 minutes later, an ambulance-looking thing pulled up. Two people emerged from the car and jogged over to us. They took the dog out of my hands and informed us that the dog would be in safe hands. If we hadn't called at the time we did, the dog could have died.
We headed back in after a few minutes. Once inside, my teeth began to chatter uncontrollably. It happened a lot, and for some reason, my teeth would chatter when we got inside, not while outside.
"Cold?" Kevin asked me.
"No, not really." I answered. It was the truth. Even if my teeth chattered, I wasn't cold.
"Well, we should get you changed. You're covered in blood." He recommended. I looked down, and the whole front of my shirt was drenched in blood. Before I could protest, I was dragged along by Kevin to some booth. He went behind it and produced three different t-shirts. One was black with a red and gold picture, another was also black and had a mostly gold picture on it. The last one was white with a red and black picture on it. "Take your pick!" Kevin instructed. I chose the black one with red and gold on it for me and Jamie. "Good choice!" he said. I started taking out my wallet from my pocket. "What in the world are you doing?" Kevin asked me.
"I'm paying for the shirts," I said as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
"Uh, no," he said sternly. "Chill out. It's free."
"No it's not," I pointed out. "They're twenty dollars each. I have to pay for them!"
"Come on, let's go," before I could say or do anything, I was being led by back to the room.
"But Kevin!" I whined.
"But nothing. You are not paying for the t-shirts. Seriously, it's not that big of a deal." Kevin insisted.
I let out a frustrated groan. "Fine, fine, fine."
"The bathroom is out the door, to your left," Kevin told me.
I quickly nodded, headed to the bathroom and changed.
When I entered the room again, Jamie was dressed in her new shirt as well. Lindsey was sitting on the floor, watching TV. Nick, Joe and Kevin were all sitting on different couches.
"Nick, that water bottle might cause cancer," I said.
"WHAT?!" Nick exclaimed, spitting out his water.
"I said, 'Your water bottle might cause cancer,' oh and, it's not environmentally friendly," I repeated. "Let me see," I said, grabbing his water bottle. I inspected the bottom of it. "False alarm. No cancer," I smiled. "but it still isn't environmentally friendly. You shouldn't use these water bottles. I mean, if you are, at least use the ones with less plastic." I walked around the room some more, inspecting certain things. "This should be changed," I muttered.
"What? I see nothing wrong with it." Kevin spoke.
"Well, when you plug things into sockets and you don't use them, there's still a charge running through the cord," I explained. "It's called a phantom load. It means that you're still paying for electricity when it's plugged in."
"So then how do we fix it?" Kevin asked.
"Well, you can just unplug it when you're not using it, or you can get a power strip and switch it off when not it use," Lindsey said, looking our way.
"Awesome," Kevin and Joe said at the same time.
"So, you have a little brother, right?" Jamie asked.
"Yup!" Joe answered.
"Do you guys have any siblings?" Nick asked.
"I have an older sister named Selena. She's in college." Jamie explained to them.
"And I am an only child!" Lindsey said.
I felt all eyes shift to me. "Well, I have an older brother named Matt, but he... he died a few months ago." I said sadly.
"Oh wow, I'm so sorry." Nick said. There wasn't mush else to say after you tell someone your brother is dead. "You'll see him in eternity." I was shocked at what he said. It confused me a bit, I just smiled. Nick didn't say much, but the few words he did say were really witty and sarcastic, or deep and insightful.
"So where are your parents and Frankie?" Jamie asked.
"Frankie is at a friend's house and our parents are on a dinner date," Joe informed us.
There was a silence. It wasn't awkward, we were just enjoying ourselves.
Outside was raining, with thunderstorms. Now I may be nineteen, but I'm freaked out by thunderstorms. They're just plain creepy. No one knows what's going to happen--if lightning is going to strike you, if the power will go out--nothing.
Unfortunately, there were 4 large windows in the room we were in. When lightning struck, the whole sky would light up.
There was one particularly bright flash of light. I winced. In a matter of seconds, thunder would rumble and the room would probably shake. I plugged my ears, afraid of what was coming next.
The thunder rumbled, and like I expected, the room shook. The lights flickered and I let out a terrified shriek.
"Oh my gosh, Bonnie, are you okay?" Kevin asked.
"She's fine. Just terrified of thunderstorms. That's all." Jamie explained to him. I blushed. No one knew of my fears of storms except Lindsey and Jamie.
"I'm going to go to the bathroom real quick," I announced, and left the room. I flicked on the lights, locked the door and looked at myself in the mirror. I needed to do something. I looked around the room for something sharp. Nothing. I peered under the sink and spotted a rough edge. It would have to do. I took of the bracelets, hair ties and wrist bands from my left arm. I pressed my wrist to the edge of the sink slowly. Blood oozed from the fresh cut. It felt so good, seeing the blood.
I started the day Matt died. He was my best friend, and when he got hit by a drunk driver, I retreated to cutting myself. I didn't need to wear long-sleeves because I had many bracelets and hair ties covering bandages I would wrap around my cuts. If anyone would ask what the bandages were, I told them that it was just a big bracelet. Nobody knew I cut myself, not even Lindsey, Jamie or my parents. No one needed to know.
I could say I had it under control, but that would be a lie. Over the past few months, the cutting had become addictive. I needed to cut myself at least once everyday. On bad days, I would cut myself over 7 times. I had tried to stop before, but I would always make excuses as to why I needed to cut myself "that one time."
My reason for cutting today? Some famous rock stars found out that I overreacted during thunderstorms. You would be embarrassed too, trust me.
I carefully wrapped some bandages over the fresh cut, slipped on the bracelets, rinsed my hands and went back to the room.
As soon as I got back and sat down on the couch, the power went out. It didn't turn back on. I was hoping that wouldn't happen. Out of all days, why today?
I started freaking out. Once again, why today? I started shaking slightly. I brought my legs to my chest, muttered "Oh my God, stop it, stop it," to myself, hoping it would stop my shaking. This usually never happened. It was probably since I just cut myself.
"Are you sure she's okay?" Kevin asked Jamie, referring to me.
"I'm not sure. This never happens." she replied honestly. "Yeah, well neither does getting stuck in a room with the Jonas Brothers," I thought to myself.
I clutched the sides of the couch, hoping it would calm my nerves. I had to stop freaking out. I was making a fool of myself. "I'm fine guys. Just a little freaked out." I assured them.
"Are you sure?" Joe asked. "Your face is really pale." By this time, Joe and Nick had left to get some flashlights and blankets because since the power was out, there was no heating in the winter. Joe was pointing his flashlight towards me.
"And you're really cold," Kevin raised his hand to my head and I flinched slightly before relaxing.
Nick tossed Kevin a few blankets and draped them over my shoulders.
"Thanks," I said gratefully. Kevin smiled.
I quickly warmed up and was "back to normal" as Joe put it.
Then I realized it was probably very late and my parents were probably worrying about me. "Do you guys have a phone with a cord around here?" I asked.
"Over there," Nick instructed me. I quickly told them I was calling my parents to check in. Joe didn't know that you could still use corded phones when the lights were out, but I wasn't surprised; not many people knew that.
The phone call ended quickly. I just explained to them that I would head home when the power turned back on. Jamie and Lindsey called their parents and explained the situation to them as well.
If you guys have any questions, feel free to ask!
Jamie and Lindsey, it's a weird place to stop, but I figured it would let you write some conversation while they're still there. =]
