Okay..so...here I am again! With yet another story!! I really like the plot line for this one..and hopefully you all enjoy it!! Now..i can't decide whether or not this is a better prologue or chapter 1....so...i'm going to leave it in the air for now..if you think its one way or the other let me know!! Thanks!!

Prologue

Nick’s truck pulled up the gravel driveway. His daughter in the backseat squealed with excitement at the sight of Grandma and Grandpa’s house. Nick unbuckled her from her car seat and set her on the ground. Instantly she was off running towards her grandparents sitting on their screened in porch. Nick followed in moments after his bubbly 3 year old, Cara. He was greeted with hugs and kisses and then took a seat. His mother poured him a glass of freshly made lemonade. He thanked her and took a couple of sips. He watched as his parents interacted with his daughter. A smile played across his face as he watched Cara squirm in Grandma’s arms and go into a fit of giggles as Grandpa reached over and tickled her. Nick took another sip of lemonade, savoring the sensation of the cool, tart liquid sliding down his throat. It was days like this that brought back memories. Days like this that made him wish he were a little kid again sitting on his father’s lap tasting lemonade for the first time. His father brought him back to reality as he sat in the chair next to him.

“So son, what’s new with you?”

“Nothing really. Same old, same old.”

His father nodded. “Of course, of course.”

Nick’s finger slid over the cool wet glass, debating on whether or not to tell him. But what was there to debate? If he was going to go through with his plan he had to tell his father. And what time like the present, right?

Okay..I'm going to go ahead and post the first chapter. It will help you get into a bit more i think ... hopefully. So...read! Comment!!

Chapter 1

Nick had never been one to seek revenge. He had always had a compassionate and forgiving heart. But that had changed. His heart was now shattered. He had tried desperately after the tragedy to pick up the pieces but he never succeeded. The anger, hurt, and emotion always held him back from the healing he needed so badly. The tragedy was a constantly playing movie in his mind. He tried to shut it out, turn it off but it wouldn’t quit.

            He sat on the floor of his living room playing with his newly turned 2-year-old daughter. His wife, Sarah was away on her last business trip. She had put in her two-week notice and it was finally up. When she came home that afternoon, she’d be there to stay. But, while she was away, Nick was on Princess Duty as the couple often called it. Cara was big into fairytales and princesses. That afternoon hadn’t been any different. Dolls in pretty dresses and a big pink castle were the main feature. They were attending the Prince’s ball when his cell phone went off. It was Sarah. He flipped it open and answered.

            “Hey babe,” he said grateful for the call.

            “I love you Nick. So much.” She said quickly and panicked.

            Nick was confused, “I love you too but-“

            Sarah cut him off, “And tell Cara that mommy loves her.”

            Then the line went dead.

Nick had panicked. He called his parents, then Sarah’s and waited for them to arrive. They all sat worried for an hour before Nick thought of turning on the television. As quickly as he had turned it on he wanted to turn it off. Images of a burning plane flashed across the screen. The reporter rattled off the flight number 256. Sarah’s plane. Nick’s throat tightened and he couldn’t breathe. He began to stumble back and his father managed to catch him right before he hit the ground. The phone call finally made sense.

            It wasn’t until days later when a cause had been discovered. The news station had it covered.

            “Received text messages and phone calls right before the crash reveal that a hijacker was involved in this terrible tragedy.”

            The man’s picture appeared on the screen.

            “This man, Ishami Louden, is suspected of the crime. Witnesses say that they saw a man floating down in a parachute near the plane crash. Other witnesses say they saw Ishami struggling to run and detach himself from the parachute. The police say he was probably connected to the 9/11 incidents. He had returned to finish the job. When the plane began to fall though he acted upon his back up plan and jumped out of the plane then safely floated to the ground. A search is being conducted as we speak for this man.”

            Nick knew right then he had to do something. Innocent people were killed because of that man, one of them his own wife. Nick wouldn’t have it. A year later, Nick finally figured out what he was to do. He was to join the army.
