A few days went by and I hadn’t talked to Kevin. Probably because he was never home. every time I went, no one was home. I finally decided one more time, but walking over this time. I noticed a big truck outside packing the families thing in it. I ran to the door that was wide open. The living room was near empty except one couch and a few pictures on the walls. I started panicking. What was going on? Just then Kevin came in the room with Nick & Joe.
“Hey…..” I said kinda quietly.
“Audrey! Hey!” Kevin said pulling me into his famous bear hugs. I barely hugged him back.
“Wha. What’s going on?” I asked staring around.
“Dude, you never told her?” Joe asked with a shocked look on his face. Kevin turned around and must of made a face to him because Joe and Nick walked out.
“Didn’t tell me what Kevin?” I said a little ticked by then. Soon men were coming in to the get the couch. And Mrs. J was packing away the pictures.
“That we’re moving to California. It worked. We’re going to be in the music scene.” He said happily. I on the other hand was about toe start crying. I could feel the tears welling up in my eyes. How could he leave without telling me? I thought we were friends. Was he going to leave without saying anything at all? All these thoughts ran through my head. “Aren’t you happy?” He finally asked, interrupting the thoughts.
“Congrats.” Was all I could muster out.
“Congrats? That’s it?” He said, sounding like he was the mad one this time.
“Well the fact that you didn’t tell me you were leaving!! But whatever. Seriously I am happy for you all. I hope you guys become super famous, really.” I said quickly wiping a tear away.
“Don’t cry Aud. We’ll be back. You know you and I will always be best buds.” He said smiling. Best buds, that’s all we ever were.
“Kev? I wish we were more then best buds. I have for awhile.” I said abruptly. I didn’t realize it, went wide-eyed and just stared at Kevin, hand over my mouth. He was a little shocked too. “Sorry. Well I’ll let you finish packing.” I said, walking over giving him a quick hug then walked out.
“AUDREY!!” He yelled after me. Please say what I want you to, I prayed to myself as he walked up. “I’m flattered?” He said randomly.
“Huh?” I asked a little confused.
“That you like me. It’s sweet. And you’re a sweet girl bu-”
“Listen I get it Kev. You only like me as a friend, blah blah blah, you know I’ve heard this before. You’re the person I’ve told remember? I don’t need to hear it from you too. Have a good life.” I said as I walked away. I didn’t want to hear the same thing I heard from every guy from him, especially him. I waved goodbye to the rest of the Jonas family and walked into my house. I’m pretty sure I cried for days on end. I couldn’t handle that I told him how I felt, right before he left, that he didn’t like me, he used the same lame trick, and that my best friend was out of my life. God life sucks!!

About a month later I was sitting at home watching TRL. And there they were. The Jonas Brothers. I let out a little squeal. Who knew they were actually going to make it that quick. I texted all three of them congratulating them. It was funny since they must have had their phones with them because they all made odd movements around the same time and reached into their pockets. It was to funny. As TRL went to commercial break I got texts back from all of them. Mainly just saying thanks, but an interesting one from Kev. “thx, but u & me need 2 tlk” odd much? I waited til the show got over and I soon got a phone call from Kevin.
“Hey there, how are ya best bud?” I said laughing. I got over what happened that day. It was stupid and childish. hey to you. I’ve missed you, how are ya? He missed me? Exciting, since he’s never said that, even though we’ve been apart longer than that. “Ah I miss you too. I’m great, it’s awesome seeing my best friend on tv now. So when are you coming and visiting?” Soon I hope. Hey sorry I have to go, but I hope since we’re close to home I’ll see you soon. I still have to tell you something important. “Alright. Talk to you later bud.” I said quickly before I hung up. I wonder what was so important.
A day had come and gone when I heard a knock at the door Saturday morning. I was still in my pj’s. what can I say, I’m in love with the Saturday morning cartoons and cereal routine. I opened the door with an ear shattering scream. “KEVIN!!!” I practically jumped onto him. He held me into a tight, long hug. Completely different then I remember. I looked up and smiled at him.
“Aud, can we talk?” He said immediately.
“Well it’s good to see you too.” I said jokingly and opened my door wider for him to come in. He plopped on my couch and started twiddling with his fingers. I knew he did that when he was nervous and it bugged me. “Whatcha nervous about?” I asked him sitting down on the floor. I turned off the tv so there weren’t cartoons blasting in the background.
“How di- Oh yeah. Ha. Well it’s about what you said when we left.” He started.
“Kevin, don’t worry. I don’t know what I was thinking when I said that to you..” I said now playing with my fingers. I knew what I meant. I did care for him, and I did want us to be more, but I wasn’t going to tell him that.
“Well, I know I said that I was just flattered and stuff like that, but the truth is, while we were gone, I missed you. A lot. A lot more then if we were just friends.” He said taking in a deep breath.
“Kev, are you saying what I think you’re saying?” I asked trying to hold back a smile that crept onto my face. Without a word he plopped onto the floor next to me and pulled me into a kiss. I tensed up at first because it was the last thing I was expecting. It was sweet and delicate at first. But as I accepted the kiss it was more passionate. It stopped when I heard my mom coming down the stairs. I just stared at him, just inches from me. My mom smiled, grabbed something and walked back upstairs.
“Aud, will you…will you be my girlfriend?” He asked quietly. I gave him a quick kiss in return. “Is that a yes?” He asked.
I just giggled as a sign of reply. He smiled as we sat their watching cartoons together the rest of the morning. Little was said between us, but that’s when we knew what our feelings were towards each other.
