Tonight, the moon was full. A gentle breeze drifted through our hair. On this gorgeous night, full of true love. I took one look at him, and knew he was the one for me. He was perfect, in every way. I loved him for him, not for the looks, the money, or fame. Just himself.
It all started back in 2000, I had just moved in. As the moving truck pulled into the driveway, I noticed a boy about my age peering over, from the next house over. Once I got out of the car, I walked over to him. He backed away slowly, and shyly. I stuck my hand out, and said, "Hiya. My name's Astrid. I'm your new neighbor!" Slowly and gently, he reached out and shook me hand, "Hi, Astrid. I'm Nicholas, but you can call me Nick," he said with a smile growing across his face.
My mother called to me, "Astrid, honey, come on! We have to start unpacking, sweetie!" I looked to him and said, "I have to go. But I'll talk to you later, friend." He nodded and went back inside to his home. I walked over to my mother, "Who's your little friend there?" she asked. "His name is Nicholas, he lives next door.”
It was almost dinner time before we finished unpacking the kitchen and dining room. Tonight, my dad was letting me help out with dinner. We were having spaghetti and meatballs. After dinner, Dad said I could go outside for awhile, then we have to get back to unpacking. And with that, I left and went over to Nick’s house. I produced a short, steady beat upon the door.
To my surprise, another little boy, with deep, brown eyes, and choppy, dark brown hair answered the door, “Hello. You must be the new neighbor from next door, right? Well, I’m Jo-“ was all he managed to get out before a boy with curly hair and pointy ears walked up. “Hi. He’s Joe and I’m Kevin,” he said pointing to himself and Joe, “our other brother, Nick is around here somewhere.” At that, I told them I’d already met Nick.
They offered to let me come into their home, but I said I have to finish unpacking, and I’d come over and play when I finished unpacking. They understood, and I walked back over to my house. When I walked in, Dad came over and said, “Sorry, Kookie, we’re going to be sleeping on blankets tonight. But we’ll have the beds ready for tomorrow night, I promise.”

It took about three days to get anything we needed, unpacked. I finally got to go over to Nick’s house. When I got there, he answered the door and invited me in. He asked if I had met his brothers, and I told him I had met them a few days ago. We walked into the living room and decided to put a movie in, “So, what are we watching?” I asked. “Toy Story. It’s my favorite movie!” I just stared at him, mouth gapping, eyes widened. “What’s wrong? You look like a fish.” Suddenly, I snapped out of it, “That my favorite movie, too!!” He gave me a high five, and the movie started.
“Nick honey, can you take the tra-“ A woman with dark, curly hair came up behind us. Nick and I turned around, “Hi, Mom. This is my new friend, Astrid. She moved in next door,” Nick said. I got off the couch, and walked over to her, “Hello, ma’am. It’s very nice to meet you,” and shook her hand. “Hello, Astrid, you have such a lovely name, darling,” she looked over to Nick, “Nick dear, can you take the garbage out please?” Nick walked over to the trashcan, tied the bag up tight, and went outside to the curb, putting the bag of trash into another trashcan.
He walked back in, and sat on the couch next to me. “You’re my best friend forever, Astrid!” Nick said, giving me a hug. “And you’re mine!” I said hugging him.

Joe and Kevin walk in whilst we’re still hugging, “What’s with the love fest?” Joe asks. “Haha. Very funny,” Nick said. Embarrassed, I looked down to keep them from seeing the redness of my cheeks. I really liked Nick, but I also liked his brothers, too. “So, what are you guys up to?” Kevin asked. I could feel my face cooling down, so I looked up to answer his question, “Oh, we were just watching the best movie ever; Toy Story.” Kevin started to laugh, “What?” I asked dumbfounded. “Everyone knows that the best movie ever is Robin Hood. Duh,” Kevin said between laughs.
After Toy Story, Joe invited me to go swimming in their pool, so I ran over to grab my bathing suit. It was a one-piece, and it was as blue as my eyes; or at least that’s what Joe said. We played Marco Polo, but everyone would cheat, so it didn’t last long. After about two or three hours swimming, we all decided to go back inside. My mother came over around 5:30, to come get me. I was sad that I had to leave, but she said I could go back over tomorrow. I asked her if we could invite them over for dinner, she said, “If it’s all right with Mr. & Mrs. Jonas, then it’s fine with me.”
When they came over for dinner the next night, the adults sat in the dining room, and me, Nick, Joe, and Kevin sat at the kitchen table. Joe had suggested a food fight, but I told him that he’d never be able to come over again. At that, he put the food in his hand back into his plate, and looked up in disappointment. After dinner, they stayed for awhile, while our parents talked. We went to my room, I had lots of games and movies to keep us entertained. We were playing Monopoly when my dad walked in and said, “Time to go boys. You can come over tomorrow and finish the game.” I said my goodbyes, and went to sleep once I heard the front door close.
I woke up in the middle of the night, to a rapping noise by my window, at first I thought it was the trees, but then remembered my room was on the first floor. I peeked out, to find Kevin. I raised the window quietly and whispered, “What are you doing here?” I opened it all the way, and climbed out, “I wanted to see you,” he answered. “R..r..really?” I finally mananged to get out. “Yes, really,” he said as he tucked my hair behind my ear.

OMNJ cutest story ever! i love it!!!! it's soooo cute. Kevin loves her too? ooh and then Joe! she must be a pretty... is she 7 now? aww how cute.

She is one day older than Nick;
but they story's currently set in 2000, so she's 8. |
