Part: One

Sun peeked through the windows. The linoleum floor grew warm from it's heat. Small chatter buzzed around the room as the teacher passed back student's papers. A girl sat, quiet, staring at her desk. Her hands were cupped together, resting in her lap. Dark brunette locks of hair veiled her eyes. A sheet of notebook paper slid smoothly across the surface of her desk. She glanced up to see a girl staring at her with a smile on her face. She motioned towards the paper, asking the girl to read it. Round letters were scratched across the paper.

"MEG!!! Did you see his new shirt today!?"

Meg glanced up. She looked in the other girl's blue eyes. She looked questioningly at her for a moment then grabbed a pencil. After writing a response she folded the paper once and passed it across the isle to the other girl.

"I am not that obsessed, Sarah...but I don't really think orange is his color."

Sarah giggled and they both glanced over at the door to the hallway. A curly-haired sophomore strutted by with a simple notebook in his grasp. They both leaned towards each other across the isle.

"I agree, orange doesn't really suit him."

Meg nodded at her friend's statement. An awkward expression crawled across their faces as cold hand sat on each of their shoulders.

"Girls, this is art class, not talk among yourselves 101!"

They both apologized and sneered at the teacher as she continued toward the front of the room. In all reality though, they never would have met if it hadn't been for their art elective. Rarely did the juniors talk to the underclassmen. They couldn't help it. They just "clicked".

The school bell screeched, allowing student's to leave class. Everyone collected their books and filed out of the door. Sarah and Meg walked through the hallway together.

"Are you ever gonna talk to him?"

"To who?"

Sarah rolled her eyes before smiling.

"Nick! Duh! He's your age and you would be perfecto mundo for each other."

Meg made a face at her. "'Perfecto mundo'?"

Sarah stopped in front of a locker. Meg halted with her and leaned against the wall.

"Whatever, I learned it in Spanish today, or something. The point is...answer my question!"

"I'm not so sure that's right, but whatever." Meg flicked a strand of hair out of her face. "Of course I won't talk to him. He has a girlfriend. There's no point. You know how that is..."

The locker slammed and they both continued toward the main hall. "Yeah, you're right. All the hot guys are either taken or gay."  Meg burst out laughing. Sarah gave her a confused look and opened the door to the cafeteria.

"You know it's true."

yeah, whatever. lol that's all i have to say about it. i'm going to introduce all the other characters in the next little bit. :]

Meg [needs help w/ the charity] wrote that was cute. i liked it. i can't wait til you post more ohh and the whole 'all the hot guys are either taken or gay' IT'S TRUE!!! haha. well at least around here it's true.

I cant wait!

The hallway grew louder as the conversations from the cafeteria escaped through the doorway. Sarah and Meg entered, unseen by anyone, as usual. As they crossed the cafeteria to reach the lunch line Meg disappeared from Sarah's peripheral vision. A small clank sounded on the floor by her. She looked down to see Meg sprawled on the ground, her leg wrapped around a chair leg. Sarah quickly crouched down to help her friend up.

"Smooth!"

Meg shot her a furious glare.

"Oh, sush! Let's just get some lunch."

As they waited in line, they glanced around at the kid's sitting in the cafeteria. Meg tapped Sarah's shoulder and pointed over at a group of boys. She leaned her head in towards Sarah's ear, but still looked over at the table.

"Isn't that the senior boy you sit next to in Chemistry?"

Sarah glanced down at Meg before looking at the boy sitting on a table surrounded by his friends.

"Yeah, why do you ask?"

Meg shrugged and turned toward Sarah leaning on the brick wall.

"He's Nick's brother sooo, I just assumed maybe you had connections...?"

Sarah chuckled.

"Okay, I suppose I could hint to him during 2nd period tomorrow."

Meg clapped her hands together and smiled brilliantly.

"Yes!! Thank you!"

She hugged Sarah around the shoulders.

"Yeah, yeah, whatever. I'm hungry."

She shook her friend of off her and grabbed a lunch tray.

After the typical hour long lunch time, school went by pretty fast. The girls thought it was just because they were giddy for after school 'hang out time'.

Sarah glanced down at her cheap plastic watch decorated with spaceships. "2:38".

Meg came dashing out of the school's front doors. She glanced around until she spotted Sarah standing impatiently by the school's front statue. She walked over and waved as she approached.

"You are very late, little missy."

"Meg caught her breath before responding. "I'm sorry. Some of the boys mixed coffee and soda together and wanted me to try it."

"And how was that?"

"Terrible!!! Though, now I don't have to worry about wondering what it might have tasted like, right?"

Sarah nodded and lead Meg towards the sidewalk. They walked side by side down the street until they reached the first group of houses near the school. They turned in and weaved between the cars along the curb.

Finally, they walked up the path to a small white ranch home. They burst through the door and tossed their bags on the tile floor. Sarah walked in to the kitchen and opened the fridge door. She stared at it for a few minutes before she slammed it shut.

"Hey, isn't TRL on right now?"

Meg jumped onto the sofa and clicked the tv on.

"Yessum! Get your booty in here!"

Sarah leaped over the back of the sofa and sat next to Meg, who was already lounging against the arm rest.

A car door slammed outside. Meg and Sarah perked up and glanced at each other. Meg smile connivingly at Sarah before they both rushed over to the front window. They knelt on the ground and peeked over the sill so that their eyes could peer outside.

A totally gorgeous brunette boy walked over to the other side of a black jeep. He opened the passenger's door and out stepped a beautiful blonde girl. Meg giggled and looked at Sarah.

"Agh! Don't look at me like that."

Meg continued to laugh as she went back to watching the couple. The boy wrapped his arm around the girl's waist as they both headed towards the house next door. His piercing brown eyes looked at the window and Meg and Sarah ducked down in a frenzy.

"Oh my gosh!! You don't think he saw do you!?"

"Sarah, I'm sure he was just looking in this general direction. Not necessarily at us."

They made their way back to the sofa. Sarah sat defeated.

"What does she have that I don't? Wear both blonde and have blue eyes!!"

Meg sighed and rolled her head around, popping her neck.

"Um, well there is the whole fact that her eyes are totally gorgeous and she is BEAUTIFUL!!! And besides, I don't see what you have against her. Ashlynn seems pretty cool."

Sarah gave Meg a disgusted look. She grabbed one of the sofa pillows and whacked Meg on the arm with it.

"Oh be quiet! You still have yet to talk to YOUR crush!"

Meg retalliated.

"Psh, whatever!"
