Chapter One
“T-Taylor?” Nick fumbled out.
“How’s it going Jonas?”
“Not to bad Taylor…” Nick began to say but was soon cut off by the adorable Nate, Taylor’s son and Nick’s student.
“My mommy’s name isn’t Taylor, her name is Jaclyn” Nate said confused to as why Nick was calling his mommy Taylor and why they already knew each other. Nick looked up to the woman who he thought was Taylor, just a confused as little Nate was.
“Oh, that’s right honey,” she said bending down to her son’s height, “But when I was younger people called me Taylor. That’s my middle name.”
The gears began to shift in Nate’s head. Nick had been telling him a story about a girl named Taylor and his mommy used to go by Taylor. Also, Nick knew him mom. The light bulb came on with a flash in Nate’s mind and he threw his hands around his mom.
“Mommy you’re Taylor,”
Jaclyn looked at her son, confused and then back up to Nick with questioning eyes, “Well, I suppose yes…”
“No, Nick told me about you,”
Jaclyn looked back up to Nick, even more confused then before, “Do you always tell your students about me Jonas? Or was Nate just special?”
Jaclyn looked upset as she stared at Nick, waiting for an answer. He stared right back into her beautiful brown eyes; remember how much he really missed them. A tap on Nick’s shoulder brought him out of his daze. He turned around to meet the face of Claire’s, the little girl in the pink dress, father. He had his arm protectively around his daughter as he stuck out his other arm, expecting Nick to shake it. Nick did and began to make small talk with the man. Telling him how wonderful his daughter was. Nick excused himself a few moments later and turned back around to talk to Taylor…eh…Jaclyn. She was now sitting on a chair, with Nate placed in her lap.
“Why’d you leave?” Nick asked simply. He still wasn’t able to fully comprehend why she had even left in the first place. And he knew there had to be more reason than what she led onto.
“Nick not now,” she stated simply, pointing down to Nate’s head. Nick shook his head, saying he understood. She sighed and began to rub her temples, “I don’t have to work tonight. Why don’t you come over to my house after this and we can talk about it then.”
“That sound’s good,” Nick said, watching Tay…Jaclyn pull out a piece of paper and scribble an address on it, along with a number.
“He’s our address and my cell,” Nick looked down at the words written on the paper. He noticed her house was located in some of the nicer neighborhoods, just based on the address. In fact, it wasn’t that far from where he lived. Was it possible that his Taylor had been living only five minutes away from him this entire time?
“Come on Nate,” Jaclyn said, grabbing Nate’s hand and slowly walking out of the building, without a second glance back at Nate.
Nick looked back at the sheet of paper, still not being able to believe he was seeing her again. He carefully slipped the paper into his pocket and began to walk around. Talking to other kid’s parents, but deep down inside of him, he couldn’t wait for everyone to leave so he could lock up and go talk Jac…Taylor.
