Chapter: 6
So there I was, following her around like I was her pet and she had me on a leash. Why did she have to be so beautiful? Why did I have to fall so hard? Well those questions don’t have answers so I might as well stop asking them. So anyways, I had been following her for a while…
“Kristin!” I whined like a little kid, “Where are we going? Please tell me!” I pouted at her. She laughed.
“Can’t you wait one more minute?” She asked as she laughed at my childish act.
“No.” I told her and smiled.
“Well that’s just to darn bad cause you’re going to have to.”
She was so cute when she got an attitude. She was so cute when she took the lead. She was so cute when… well heck, she was always so cute in my eyes.
“Are we there yet?” I whined like Frankie did for about an hour on the plane ride here.
“Almost.” She said. We walked a little bit further until we came to what seemed to be a gigantic rock sitting on the beach.
“Oh look, a rock. How cool!” I said sarcastically. She punched my shoulder lightly.
“It’s not just a rock.” she said pointing at it.
“Oh, Isn’t it?” I said with curiosity.
“Nope.” She said smiling, “It’s my rock!”
“Aren’t you the luckiest girl in the world!” I said, once again using sarcasm. “I asked for my very own rock last Christmas, but all I got was a stupid leaf!”
She laughed. The wind was blowing her hair around her face that was glowing with beauty. Never in my entire life had I seen a girl who had the effect she had on me.
“Before you make fun of it anymore you should come check it out inside.” she said walked around to the other side of the huge stone.
“Inside?” I asked following her around. I stepped inside of the rock, I guess now cave, and was amazed. There must have been small holes in the top of the rock because thin strips of light shown through, making the whole inside shine. The cave wasn’t huge but it was big enough to walk around in and had room for several people.
“So is this where you have all of your late night parties?” I asked jokingly.
“If you call sitting alone and thinking a late night party, then yes it is.” she smiled and sat down on one of the three large pieces of stone on the ground and motioned for me to sit next to her, so I did.
“Oh I see.” I said being serious. “What do you think about when you come here alone?”
“Well, just about anything and everything.” She said looking around the cave. “This is like my very own secret hide out. I come here when I need a break from life. It’s the place I can relax and tell myself that everything’s going to be alright.”
“That’s really nice.” I said smiling at her.
“Thanks.” She said smiling back. “You know, Joe, you’re the only person I’ve ever told about this place.”
“Thanks for trusting me enough to bring me.” That was a great feeling. Knowing that this was our thing. No one else shared this place with her, only me. I was the only one. That was a good thought.
“It really is beautiful the way the light hit’s the walls, just right, and make the whole cave glow.” She said looking me in the eyes. My heart was beating fast, and I had a feeling she could tell. She moved closer to me. “It’s one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen.” She continued.
I looked at her beautiful face. The cave’s walls couldn’t even compare to how the light made Kristin’s already beautiful face look. Her eyes shined a bright blue. “Kristin,” I said putting my hand on hers, “you are the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.”
“You sure know how to make a girl feel good.” she said smiling at me. Was it possible that her smile just got prettier? She squeezed my hand for a few seconds and then loosened her grip without letting go.
“And you sure know how to make a guy feel like he’s falling in love.” I said staring deep into her eyes.
Then something happened that I had wanted to happen since I first saw her, but wasn’t quite expecting to happen for at least another week. Kristin leaned over, held my hand with her left and put her right hand on the side of my head. And then she kissed me. I closed my eyes. Was this happening? Oh yes, it sure was. After about ten seconds of pure amazingness, Kristin’s lips separated from mine and she sat back in her seat smiling and still holding my hand.
“Wow.” Is all I could say. I had a huge smile on my face.
“Right back at ya,” She said smiling, not as big as I was, but it was still a smile.
Just then my iPhone rang. Backstreet boys. I hurried and got it out of my pocket before Kristin could hear too much of the song. She giggled as I answered it.
“Hello?” I said to the caller.
“Hey, Joe where are you at?” it was Kevin, I could tell by his voice and lack of introduction.
I looked at Kristin before answering. She was looking at the cave’s walls again. “I’m with a friend.” I told him, not giving away my whereabouts to keep our hide out hidden.
“Well Mom and Dad want you to come to the suite, like now.” He said. I could hear Frankie in the background asking where I was.
“Ugh why?” I moaned. I didn’t want to leave Kristin already.
“I honestly don’t know, but they said to hurry.” he said. He sounded serious so I guessed it wasn’t a joke to get me to go home for no reason.
“Okay fine. See you soon.” I said and hung up. I slipped my cell back into my pocket and went back over to Kristin.
“Hey, I got to go. My parents want me back at the suite.” I told her sadly.
“No sweat.” She said like it was no big deal, “I have to go soon anyway.”
“Okay, well then I’ll see you tomorrow?” I asked her.
“It’s a date.” she said smiling.
I had left the cave and let my eyes adjust to the change in brightness before I sprinted back to the suite. I didn’t want to keep Mom and Dad waiting.
Okay, so doesn’t that sound like a fairytale? Like a dream come true? Well I sure thought so. I had spent less than two days with Kristin and we had already kissed and I was already in love. If only it could have stayed like that. Like a dream come true. But instead, I woke up from that dream and when I fell back asleep, little did I know that a nightmare was waiting for me.
