Chapter: 8
Okay, so I’m going to summarize the next few weeks after the kiss. Oh the kiss. Well basically for the next few weeks me and Kristin hung out everyday. We would meet up in random spots in the morning, then get something to eat. After that we normally went down to the beach or to one of the pools. There would be times when we spent the whole day together, and other times where she had to leave early. Those times happened more than I would have liked. Oh and even though we had spent so much time together, we hadn’t had our second kiss. I wanted another though, so I planned on it being on the next day I’m going to tell you about. June 20th. Oh how I hated that day. The day that ruined everything.
I got up out of bed and got dressed. Just like I had been doing everyday for the past few weeks. I was excited for the day, I wanted another kiss. After I was dressed and ready, I headed outside. I looked around for Kristin, but I couldn’t find her. I figured that one of her friends that worked at the water park I met her at might know where she was. I walked down to it and started looking for a life guard.
“Excuse me,” I said to blonde girl who was sitting in the life guard chair by a pool. “Do you know Kristin Cursio?”
“Oh yeah, she’s one of my friends” She said smiling but keeping her eyes on two little boys that were splashing each other in the pool. “I’m Molly. You must be Lance.”
“Um no.” I said with a confused tone to my voice.
“Oh I’m sorry,” she said looking at me now, “David?”
“No.” I said still confused.
“Um, Justin?” she asked. Now she looked confused too.
“Still no.” I told her. What was this girl talking about?
“Well maybe it would be easier for you to just tell me your name.” She said, side glancing at the little boys.
“I’m Joe.” I said.
“Oh, Joe. I forgot about you. Yeah, Kristin mentioned you once.” She said slightly smiling.
“Once?” I asked her. Kristin only mentioned me one time to one of her friends when we had been hanging out practically all month? Molly just nodded.
“Well do you know where she is?” I asked her hoping for an answer.
“Um, I think she went down to the far end of the beach.” Molly said. The far end of the beach. That was where her rock was. Our special spot. That would be the perfect place to get my second kiss with her. She probably went down there to think about something, I thought. She had told me she liked to go there to relax and think about stuff.
“Thanks.” I said to Molly and then headed down towards the far end of the beach.
I was about eight feet away from the rock cave. I stopped and looked down. I saw foot prints in the sand. There were smaller ones and there were bigger ones. Both of them leading to the entrance of the cave. I looked up to see a guy about my age with blonde hair coming out of the cave. I hurried and ducked behind another rock next to the bigger one. Who was that guy? I peeked around my hiding spot to see if the guy was still there. He was.
“Bye babe.” he said waving into the cave with a big smile on his face.
“I’ll see you tonight, Chandler” said a voice from inside the cave. I knew that voice. Kristin. Chandler blew her a kiss and left. Once I was sure he was gone I made my way to the entrance of the cave.
“Joe? What are you doing here?” Kristin asked me when she saw me. Her hair was messed up and she looked like I had surprised her.
“Looking for you.” I said seriously. I was so confused. I didn’t know how to feel about anything that had happened in the past half and hour.
“Well you found me.” She smiled. This was the first time I didn’t smile back. I could tell she sensed something was wrong.
“Yeah.” I said looking right into her eyes. We were standing about five feet apart. I couldn’t get any closer. My feet wouldn’t move. “I want some answers.” I said in a sad tone.
“What are you talking about, Joey?” she asked me looking confused.
“What is going on?” I asked her. “Who’s Chandler? And who are Lance and David and Justin?” She stared at me with a sad look on her face. I had found out what she was hiding. My throat hurt. I could feel that lump forming in it like when you’re about to cry but are trying to hold in it.
“They’re just some guys” She said looking down. That was not a good enough answer for me.
“Just some guys? Just some guys that you never told me about, but you told your friend Molly about? Just some guys that you showed your secret hiding spot? Our secret hiding spot?” I was so mad and sad and I couldn’t control my self from raising my voice.
“Joe! Calm down. It’s not a big deal!” She said trying to get me to stop.
“No! It is a big deal!” I shouted at her. “It’s a big deal that you lied to me. You’ve been lying to me all month! You’ve been seeing other guys! Lots of them!” I couldn’t hold it in any longer. Tears started coming out. “I trusted you. I believed you. I loved you.”
Yeah, I sure sound pathetic right about now. Crying in front of a girl. Well I can’t turn back time. But boy, I wish I could. I would go back to June first. Go back to when I was at the suite with my brothers. Go back to when I asked Nick and Kevin if they were coming. Go back to when they said they were going to stay and relax in their beds. Go back and say ‘that idea sounds better’ and lay down. Go back and never have ruined my life.
