Chapter 1:
“Jess, come on! Your plane leaves in about 2 hours” my aunt yelled from downstairs. I had stayed with her for about a week after the funeral. I couldn’t believe it. My life was changing like a whirlwind just over these past few days. I was going to miss everything: my life, my friends, my family, and most of all, my mom. I put on a pair of dark shades to hide my tear filled eyes.
“I’m coming!” I grabbed my suitcase, and took a final look at my room. “Jessica, what are you doing up there? Did you pack last night” I heard my aunt say as she came upstairs. I rushed out into the hallway and closed my door. “I’m ready” I said rushing past her down the stairs.
It was silent in the car ride to the airport. There wasn’t much to say anyway. After all, this wasn’t even supposed to be happening. When we got in front of the airport, I opened the car door but was stopped by my aunt.
“Let me walk you in there”
“Okay” She parked in the parking lot, and we took the elevator down to get into the actual airport. After all the checking for all the stupid stuff they had to look for, I was finally allowed to board my plane.
“Okay Aunt Abbey, I guess this is goodbye”
She grabbed me into a tight hug and started to cry “I’ll always be here for you Jess, no matter what. I love you” she said as she touched my face “Don’t you ever forget that”
“I won’t, I love you too”
The intercom called my flight number “Okay, well bye” I said giving her a last hug. I left after that. Off to California, to a brand new life, and clean fresh start.
