No Title Yet!

Okay, so this is a new fanfiction, and I don't have a title for it yet, but please tell me if you like it! And, don't worry, the Jonas Brothers will come into the story soon.

Chapter 1-Adelle

“I can’t believe you’re moving,” Abigail, my best friend for nine years, told me as we sat together on top of the monkey bars at the playground near my house. “I mean, who am I going to switch the signs in front of Ms. Hairson and Mr. Gard’s house with?”

I laughed as I remembered all the times we would switch the for sale and “Bush ‘04”  signs that sat in front of my neighbors’ houses. “Sara? Grace?” I mentioned, offering the names of two of our other friends.

“They’re joined at the hip with each other,” she responded as we both kicked our legs out in front of us, “And plus, it just wouldn’t be the same.” We sat in silence for a few minutes, watching the cute boys from our school play football on the field in front of us.

“And what about Ethan?” Abby asked, keeping her eyes focused on the boys’ football game, but not paying attention.

     “Ethan?”

“Ethan Cole! Only the cutest boy in school, and your crush since the fourth grade,” she turned to me, looking at me from under her long, pale eyelashes.

“Oh, come on, Abs. Let’s face it, it was never going to happen. He’s all popular, and we’re just, we’re just…not,” I stated, jumping down from my spot on the monkey bars and wiping my hands on the legs of my shorts.

“So...I heard he just broke up with Rachel which means he’s single,” she sang the last word, leaving it hanging.

“Yeah, but I doubt I could get him. I heard he likes Courtney Lockhart now, and I’m moving. So it wouldn’t work out anyway,” I brushed the air out of my face, trying my hardest to balance on a parking block.

“Ugh…where is this place you’re moving to anyway?”

“Um, I think it’s called Ocean Breeze. It’s some suburb right outside of Los Angeles.”

“And why are you moving there?” Abby questioned as I heard the frustration in her voice grow.

“I told you. My dad got a way better offer up there. Plus, he says they have really good schools, and we’re closer to my family who live in Seattle,” I explained as sweat dripped down my face and rolled down my neck. “There’s one thing I’m sure not going to miss down here,” I stated as the heat from the black top burned its way through my sneakers.

“Rachel and her cronies?” Abby guessed, a smirk playing on her lips.

“No, well yes, but I meant this weather,” I laughed, the late June sun beating down on both of our backs as we walked through the playground’s parking lot.

“Speak of the devil,” Abby muttered under her breath as I turned my head to see what she was looking at.

“Just keep walking,” I mumbled as we put our heads down, trying to avoid Rachel and her friends from spotting us. Snickering and low voices drifted towards us as we passed them, their faces turned to one another whispering, but their eyes on us.

“What’s wrong with her hair?” I heard one say just as we were leaving the playground. I could feel Abby tense up next to me and pat down her dirty blonde gone-wrong-dyed hair that now had a hint of green to it, almost as if she had stayed in the pool too long.

“Don’t worry about them. They’re just insecure. In fact, I don’t even know why Ethan went out with Rachel, her head looks like a melon,” I watched as Abby’s frown cracked into a slight smile, a small giggle escaping her lips.

“Yeah, I guess you’re right….Adelle, what am I going to do when you’re gone?” Abby looked up at me, lifting her eyes so that they looked right back into mine. I could see tears brimming the edges, the soft blue, gray coloring becoming blurred.

“No, what am I going to do without you?” I grabbed her into a hug as I let my own eyes leak tears of their own.

Should I continue?
