Chapter 3
Well...that was the weirdest dream I have ever had in my life. I had some strange powers or something. Don't get me wrong! That would be flippin' sweet! But I don't think anyone would talk to me if I had them. Wait...would that be different from now....? I guess it would slightly. I mean my cousins are there for me. And those boys I met yesterday are actually...okay. Okay they're nice, I admit. Now the phones ringing. So I'm a magical phsycic now! Crazy. "Good morning sweetie. I'm going into town for a luncheon with some producers. Hope you have fun on your hike! Love you." That's all my dad says before he hangs up. "Oh yeah its fine with me dad. Have a swell time. And yes I am gonna have fun on my dangerous life-threatning hike with boys I you don't know. Love you too!" I say like an idiot to the dumb dial tone. Its almost ten so I think I'll go get breakfast and just hang around till the boys call me. "Hey Earl!" I wave to Earl as he opens the door for some old women. "Lady Galdore! going for breakfast?" "Why yes! Yes I am Sir Earl." I laugh. He is just too cool! "Hey, if you see those boy's from yesterday tell them I'm at the restaurant and ready to hike as soon as they want." "Hiking? You're not by any chance going to the forbidden side of the mountain, are you Miss Galdore?" asks Earl with a knowing glare. "Psh...me?! No way! Who wants to go to a boring off-limits/haunted side of the mountain? Not me that for sure." I say and smile slyly. "Well I'm warning you for your own good Miss Galdore." Says Earl one last time. He worries too much! "I'll see you later Earl!" I say and run off to the restaurant. I'm used to eating by myself. Seriously, I have an account here at the restaurant and all the waiters know me as "that girl sitting by herself". Yeah that's what they yell so the whole place can hear. Nice huh? "Table for-" I was about to say one when Joe cuts me off. "Table for four please." I see his brothers on either side of him. They're all dressed casually for breakfast with those uber tight pants and t-shirts. They don't look as dorky as most tourists do here. Even some celebrity's walk around like posers with their ski suits. Losers. "Morning! You guys look flashy today! Don't tell me your trying to impress girls coz lemme tell you, I was not joking about there being no other kids here. Its just me and my obnoxious talking." I say. They laugh and smile. They really are adorable. Boy bands! They should come with a warning sign for being to cute! "You don't look half bad yourself", Joe replies and nugdes me on the shoulder. I look at myself and just see some jeans, an old 'The Who' shirt from my dad memory box, and my short limpy hair down and frizzy. And in slippers. Yeah that's cute...not! "You're obviously blind in the morning but that's okay. We'll work your problem out." I say and give him a sympethitic look. Kevin and Nick burst out laughing and Joe just sticks out his tounge. "Okay enough chatting and more chewing! I really wanna see that oh-so-cool-and-haunted cave Lori told us about." Joe says and we go to our table. Surprisingly...I had a good breakfast. It was...well...fun! Seriously! Who'da thought? As we finish I tell them to get jackets and some snow pants. Not stylish but we need them. When we all arrive back at the front door I check my cellphone. Eleven. Not bad timing. "So which way Lori?" asks Nick. "The off-limits part that way. I'm sure there are no security so we can get there with no trouble." I say. "Whoa whoa whoa hold on a minute!", says Kevin, "'off-limits'? I don't think so." He shakes his head. I sigh and look at him. "Kevin, I know I've only known you for like a day but you seemed really cool. Now...I'm not so sure." "I am cool! Just not crazy!" Kevin replies. "Calm down! We won't go that far down. The cave is rumored to be close to the Pinecone Trail. We can just follow that. Don't worry, if we get caught I'll totally take the blame. Deal?" I say. "Well....ok deal. But it won't be your fault because we obviously weren't forced to go on this." He says and laughs. We trail on for about an hour talking about everything! I can't believe these boys are famous! They seem so down-to-earth! As we begin to descend to the off-limits part of the mountain, I see branches broken into a different trail. Yes! The golden road to awesomeness! "That's it! That's the road to Casper's Cave!" I yell excited. "'Casper's Cave'? Nice name" says Nick and laughs at me. "Hey I never said I was good with making up names okay? Now lets go! Kevin chill! I swear nothing will happen to you guys. Now come on!" I say confidently and lead the way. I will keep my word. I always do. The only good thing I got from my dad I guess. We walk for another two hours and that's when I feel like I know everything about the 'Jonas Brothers'. Seriously, they even told me their darkest secrets! Like that Joe wasn't potty-trained till he five years old! Or that Kevin tripped little Nick when he wanted to get the first cut of cake at a friends birthday party. We laughed so much I swear I busted a rib! I actually feel like I have...friends. Weird. "Hey! What's that thing over there?" says Joe. I look over where he's pointing and see a piece of really old parchement. None of the boys look like they're gonna get close to it anytime soon so I go over myself. I grab it carefully and see what looks like a mag of the mountain. Well this would have been handy about two hours ago! Its says we were only about an hour away from the cave when we first started! But...I'm glad we took the long way. "This says the cave is right...here." I stop and stare at what looks like a small gaping hole in the ground. I crouch down and ignore the cold snow and begin to crawl through. "Whoa Lori! What the heck do you think you're doing!? That thing could collapse on you! We are not going in there either!" I hear as my legs get pulled. All three boys pull me out and hold on to me. "Let go of me! Geez you guys aren't my parents! And who said you guys have to go in. I only invited you guys to hike up here, not go in. So you guys can go on back and I'll catch up later." I state but am not able to shake them off. "No way! We aren't leaving you and your not going in there." Kevin replies. "Yes I am! You guys can either follow or not but you can't stop me!" I yell and manage to push them off and begin to crawl through the small tunnel. "Fine! We'll go but if we get stuffed with snow you are so dead!" Joe replies and I laugh. He's too cute. I-I mean funny. Yeah funny. We get to the end of the tunnel and find a huge mass of darkness. Luckily I have my flashlight. I turn it on and begin to look around as the rest of the group shows up. I look around and see a piece of...crystal? But its glowing a bright purple... "Don't touch that!" I hear and jump. "Joe! Its just a crystal!" "Yeah but who knows what it can do!" "Oh my gosh you are paranoid! Do you really think magic and whatnot exists? Believe me, if it did it would definitetly be a much cooler world then it is now." I say and reach for the crystal. "Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!" *Joe's POV* "Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!" I turn to look at Lori who has her hand over the freaky purple crystal. "What's wrong!?" I hear Nick and Kevin yell. I run over to Lori and she's paralyzed. She stares at me and just says, "no". Suddenly I feel like all the wind gets knocked out of me and see that we all get knocked against the cave wall. Everything begins to collapse. Kevin and Nick quickly run back and look over at me. "Are you ok?" asks Kevin. "Who cares!? Where's Lori!" I scream. We look over at here and she's unconsious. Kevin quickly grabs her and carries her towards the hole. "Wait! There's another opening!" yells Nick and we see a huge gap of the cavewall missing. We go through and make it just in time before the whole thing collapses. "Is everyone okay?" asks Kevin once again. "Yes. How's Lori?" I ask. She begins to stir but doesn't completely wake up. She's still in Kevins arms and she pulls in closer. "No...donhurtem" she says, barely audible. "She's just having a nightmare. Lets just wait here till she wakes up fully." Nick suggests and we just sit and stare at Lori. Something isn't right. Not right at all.
