Don't You Know You're Beautiful?
Hey little girl with your tangled hair, your tattered clothes,
You're fifteen and you're about to bloom just like a rose.
Julie was the little girl who'd run away when her mother attempted to comb the tangles out of her curly hair or tried to force her to changed out of her beaten and worn in clothes that she loved playing in. In almost a blink of an eye, she was a rebellous fifteen year old that would soon change dramatically.
You’re wishing that you had designer jeans
Like the ones you see in magazines.
Letting her hair dangle over the side of her bed as she caught up on her reading in the latest Gossip Girl book. Books like those and magazines alike made her wish she had all those things. Seeing the popular girls in cliques well known around school made her want to be like them.
Now I know you’d give anything just to fit in
But your worth ain't on a price tag, it comes from within.
All the things she wanted, all the things she knew if she had...she'd fit in, every materlistic item needed to be 'IN' with the popular crowd were extremely over priced. But what she didn't realize at that time, was material things don't stay 'IN' forever, and your self worth isn't about objects it comes from within.
Don’t you know you’re beautiful?
Don’t you know you’re beautiful?
Don’t you know you’re beautiful?
Just the way you are!
She didn't know that she was beautiful, no one has ever told her, she thinks that she isn't good enough because she doesn't think she's beautiful in any shape or form.
Hey there little homecoming queen in that back seat.
I’ll bet his brown eyes are promising you everything!
Josh, from English class, Josh had asked her to homecoming because of her friends. Not because of anything that had to do with her. She was nominated for Homecoming Queen as a stupid prank but she won and the prank had failed. Josh's chocolately brown eyes stared at her, promising everything in the world to her. But he didn't mean one bit of it.
And I know you want to be just like your friends,
But he’ll still love you if you don’t give in.
Her friends were popular, she was popular because of them. Without them she was nothing. She and Josh had stayed together after Homecoming, but he only did it because he felt sorry for her. His 'love' was out of pity.
But if those girls were being honest that have been where you're at,
I’d bet they’d tell you they wish they had their innocence back.
Each girl in their group had been in their postion, until they met Stacey. Stacey made them who they were today, and they had lost so much and they wish they could take everything back. Just to be how Julie was before she'd met Stacey. Every girl aside from Julie thought that, Julie loved the attention and she wasted no moment soaking in all the attention.
Don’t you know you’re beautiful?
Don’t you know you’re beautiful?
Don’t you know you’re beautiful?
Just the way you are!
She knew she was beautiful, but it wasn't the real Julie. The real Julie spent hours in her room listening to songs on her iPod from artists like Elton John and The Who to Backstreet Boys and Ashley Parker Angel stuff like that. The real Julie also read Gossip Girl novels, but now...she was a mere understudy for the gossip mastermind herself, Stacey.
So if he left you for a girl that could be your twin
If you were 28 again,
Josh got tired of pretending, he left Julie for Stacey. Who now had the same shade of dark hair as Julie and everything.
Let him go, let him fly, keep your head up,
Get on with your life!
She learned to keep her head up, Josh was a waste of time. Now everything she'd done...was for herself. Which included getting Starbucks very often.
Don’t you know you’re beautiful?
Don’t you know you’re beautiful?
Don’t you know you’re beautiful?
Just the way you are!
She ran into a mysterious figure while spilling the coffee beverage all over herself and her novel.
"I'm so sorry." He grabbed napkins from a nearby napkin holder.
"It's fine." Julie looked up, he had the same chocolately brown eyes as Josh, except...his were much warmer and comforting.
"I'm Nick." He grinned.
Julie blushed mainly because appearently...her outfit choice was Starbucks and plus...Nick was way cute."I'm Julie."
"..you're beautiful." He went out on a whim of randomness.
"Thanks." Julie smiled.

I don't like the ending too much...but whatever.
