KEVICKWARNING
“Hey Kevin,” Nick smiled at his older brother, who was sitting at the kitchen table, despite the late hour, drinking a cup of tea. Nick reached into the refrigerator and grabbed the milk.
“You know Joe was right today,” Kevin said, turning the mug in his hands. “You are a little rock star, and I’m proud to have you as my brother also.” Nick turned from pouring his milk and looked at Kevin, one eyebrow raised higher then normal.
“What brought that on?” he asked, putting the carton of milk back in the fridge and taking his glass over to the table, sitting next to Kevin.
“I don’t know.” Kevin shrugged and put the mug to his lips but setting it down again before he got the chance to take a sip. “It’s just I love you a lot and I don’t feel like I ever tell you. You’re my brother, and I really care about you.” Kevin reached out and ruffled Nick’s hair. “You’re really talented and you know how to put on a great show, I admire that and I couldn’t say it enough.”
“Kev, you’re a great musician yourself.” Nick smiled and ruffled his hands through Kevin’s curls. “You just don’t have my boyish good looks and kickin’ bod.” Nick teased.
“No one has your boyish good looks and great body,” Kevin said under his breath. “Nick, you made the band what it is, we totally rely on you.”
“I know.” Nick smiled smugly.
“Nick, I’m not kidding.” Kevin looked seriously at his brother. “I really appreciate all that you’ve done to make my dream a reality.” Nick smiled.
“You’re welcome I guess.” He shrugged. “I did it for me too you know.”
“I know, I just think it’s great that you let Joe and I be a part of this whole music thing.”
“It’s not problem, this whole thing has been better since you guys got involved, working with you guys is so much better then being solo.”
“So if I can ask, what are you doing up?” Kevin smiled at Nick. “You look exhausted.”
“I am, I just didn’t think I could sleep unless I got a little dairy in my system, I was feeling a little on the low side.”
“Oh god, are you alright? Do you want me to make you something?”
“No, no.” Nick chuckled. “I’m fine Kev. Why are you awake?”
“Just thinking,” Kevin shrugged.
“About what?” Nick took a gulp of his milk.
“About how I need one more thing to complete my dream.” Kevin smiled pushed his mug to the side, deciding that he didn’t really want the tea.
“What’s that?” Nick asked, looking up at Kevin. Kevin reached out and took the glass of milk from Nick’s hand, setting it next to the tea.
“This.” He put his hand behind Nick’s right ear and pulled him in to a tender, gentle kiss. For a split second, he felt Nick’s soft lips kissing him back, but then Nick pulled away.
“Kevin…” Nick looked at the ground. “Kevin, what the hell was that?” He spoke in a low whisper, as though he was afraid that saying something about it would solidify the fact that his brother had kissed him.
“Nick, it’s a been a few days since I realized that…that I really wanted you to be my little rock star and no one else’s.” Kevin sat back down, letting out a longing sigh. “I know it’s wrong, but you deserve to know that you’re on my mind all the time. I close my eyes and see your face, I open them and you’re in my head, and I can’t turn it off because…because you’re always around. It’s like I’m thinking about you, and I turn around and there you are, smiling at me and asking if I want to rock some guitar hero with you.” Kevin let a small smile flit across his face. “And it doesn’t torture me, it would, but you’re so beautiful that I don’t mind thinking about you all of the time, you’re so kind that I don’t mind spending all of my time with you. It’s like when I’m around you I’m happy, and when I’m not near you I wish I was, even though you don’t feel the same way, being close to you was enough.”
“Then why did you kiss me?” Nick asked hesitantly.
“Because I thought that you deserved to know…and I wanted to see what it felt like.”
“Kevin, you’ve kissed people before…”
“But not you Nick,” Kevin interjected. “You’re different. For what it’s worth, I’m sorry…” Kevin looked ashamed of himself and Nick could feel his own ears growing hot with embarrassment.
“I’m so confused,” Nick whispered, looking at the ground.
“I know, I’m sorry…I should probably leave you alone to think about all of this, or forget about it, I mean whichever one you want to do.” Kevin stood up to leave.
“Wait, Kevin, there’s one thing that you can do for me to make things a little less confusing before you go,” Nick said. “I think that you probably owe it to me to do that.”
“Alright.” Kevin nodded his head slowly. “What is it?”
“You can kiss me again, that way I can figure out how I feel. You’ve got your feelings straight, but mine are all over the place, it hardly seems fair.”
“Are you sure?” Kevin asked, looking at Nick seriously. Nick nodded. Kevin sat down in his chair and pulled it up until it was right in front of Nick. He slowly moved closer to Nick and put his lips softly to Nick’s. Nick closed his eyes and felt Kevin’s kiss for longer this time. He began to work his jaw slightly, kissing Kevin back.
“Ok.” Nick pulled away. “That’s enough, I’ve got what I need.” Kevin looked at him and then nodded slowly.
“Alright, so I’m gonna go now…”
“No.” Nick shook his head and put his hand on Kevin’s, stopping him from leaving. “I mean you can if you want to, but I would rather you stayed and kissed me a little bit more.” Nick smiled slightly.
“Wait, do you really want me to?” Kevin was surprised.
“Yeah.” Nick smiled and crawled in to Kevin’s lap. He put his hands on Kevin’s cheeks and kissed him romantically. “I really do.”
