The girls waited in the arrival area for the boys anxiously. Melanie was thumping her foot to the music that was blaring through her headphones. Eve was also listening to her iPod but keeping herself occupied with a magazine she had bought from a newsstand. Melanie’s eyes darted every now and then back and forth from the clock on the wall to the terminal gate. Eve noticed this act and said, “Geez, calm down, Mel. They’re going to be here soon. Just another half hour.”

“Which is too long for me, Eve. I haven’t seen Nick in over a year from his traveling.” Mel replied. They continued what they were doing; occasionally talking about how they would feel seeing them in a long time. Melanie’s stomach churned every time they would talk about Nick. Their love was blossoming into a relationship. It was only about several weeks ago that they had made their relationship official. They loved each other and knew it. Neither of them had said it yet. It was on their insides burning and trying to push out. However, they were too scared to say it. They knew that if they pushed things, it would mess up and it would fail. So they decided to take it slowly and cherish their time they had together.

A half hour passed and the doors opened at exactly 6:35 sharp. The girls jumped up from their seats and headed to the gate. Person after person came out and the boys were no where to be seen. Actually the whole family would be flying in. Melanie’s family and the Jonas’s had been acquainted ever since the mothers met in college. Just like Eve and Mel, they would never be apart, inseparable.

Finally, after to what seems like hours of waiting to Melanie, the family walked through the doors. Nick spotted Melanie, dropped his things and ran up to her, embracing her in a tight hug and a passionate kiss. “What took you so long?” she whispered against his lips. “Sorry. I, too was rushing to see you. I just couldn’t wait.” He whispered back. They pulled apart to find everyone standing there and staring at them. Mel blushed and greeted everyone with hugs and kisses. “Oh my, Melanie. You’ve grown so much.” Gushed Mrs. Jonas. “Oh. Thanks Aunt Denise. Mom will be surprised to see you! She doesn’t know that you’re coming. She thinks it’s only your boys!” Melanie said holding onto Nick’s hand for dear life.
