Thanks Emily!
Chapter 1: The Funeral
Death of 16 year old girl.
Sixteen year old Alison Joanne Archey of Carson City died June 27th, 2008. Alison, or Ally as her family calls her, was out on a walk with her twin sister Aubrey Castel Archey when she was shot from behind. Alison was the daughter of Karl and Jayden Archey. She had two other siblings, older brother Jordan and older twin sister Aubrey as well as a nephew named Andrew. Funeral will be held Monday, June 30th at the Carson City High School at five o’clock. Viewings will be held from 11-3. We ask you keep the family in your prayers.
The obituary in the paper just didn’t seem enough to Aubrey Archey, after all it was her sister who had died, and it just didn’t say anything about the real Alison. Aubrey had cut the obituary out of the paper and was currently gluing it onto a page in her scrapbook. As she sat the page out to dry she looked at the clothes she was wearing.
A black Jonas brothers t-shirt and a pair of red skinny jeans. Not something most would wear to a funeral, but Aubrey knew her sister would love the outfit, knowing that it was for her funeral.
“Aubrey, we have to get going, the funeral begins in an hour,” Aubrey’s older brother Andrew said. Aubrey let out a sigh and stood up. The viewings had ended only an hour ago, and her parents immediately went to the school where the funeral would be held.
Aubrey however opted to go home, saying that she had forgotten her speech at home. It was true to a point though she purposely had forgotten it. Her parents would never allow her to wear the outfit she had switched into as soon as she got home, but she knew that it was what needed to be done.
She grabbed the eulogy off of the table, and rechecked her make-up. She knew that by the end of the service it would all be smeared down her face, but she didn’t care. If it wasn’t bad enough for Aubrey to lose her twin it was knowing that the only time she would see a face identical to hers would be when she looked in a mirror.
Aubrey walked out of the room she had once shared with Alison, and made her way down to where her brother awaited her. She took the stairs slowly, as if she maybe prolonging her way to funeral would bring her sister back to her.
“Aubs, you know mom and dad will kill you if you wear that to the funeral,” Andrew said as soon as he saw the attire that she was wearing. He obviously didn’t realize that these were the wrong choice of words.
“If they do then I’ll be with Alison. But it doesn’t matter if I’m killed because half of me is already dead!” Aubrey screamed at her brother before storming out to the vehicle that sat in the driveway.
Andrew quickly followed her, finally realizing his mistake in word choice. He knew though from Aubrey’s temper that it would be best to apologize later, and began to drive silently towards the church.
As they reached the school they could see at least fifty cars already there. Alison was pretty popular in school, as well as Aubrey, so it wasn’t unexpected to have the whole school there. Aubrey quickly got out of the car and walked towards the entrance, where her best friend Emily stood.
Emily had been best friends with Alison and Aubrey since Pre-K. They had stayed best friends through the years and Emily had become like a third part of their sisterhood. For the most part Emily could be too.
Emily had dark brown hair that went a little past her shoulders and had a mix of blue, green, and brown in her eyes. The only way you could tell that she wasn’t their sister was she was taller then both girls by two inches, and her skin was naturally lighter then the twins.
Emily quickly closed the gap between her and Aubrey and pulled the shorter girl into a hug. Aubrey tried to smile as they broke the hug, but it just couldn’t be done, not even a fake smile.
“I think Ally would have really liked that outfit AC,” Emily whispered to her sullen best friend. Aubrey nodded before walking into the school and towards the seats where her parents sat.
She knew it was rude to blow off Emily like that, but at the time, she knew if she stayed any longer she would have burst into tears. She quietly sat down next to her father who hadn’t noticed her presence. She wasn’t surprised though, neither of her parents had sad anything to her since they found out that Alison had died.
She could understand, they had just lost their youngest child, and to see a girl who held the same face at her was hard to comprehend, even if it was their other daughter. She let out a slight sigh as the pastor got on the stage.
She didn’t really pay attention to what he said, and she zoned out through most of the service until it was her time to speak. She slowly stood up and made her way towards the podium. When she got behind it, she placed her paper down and looked out into the crowd.
The bleachers of the gym were full to the brim and every seat that was put out on the gymnasium floor was filled as well and there were some people standing on the sides. She let out a deep breath and began her speech.
Hope you liked it. Please Review!
