“Are you sure you have everything?” my mother questioned me for possibly the thousandth time today; I sighed and looked up giving her a knowing glare. I know she didn’t want me to forget anything considering I was flying across the world, but did she really need to go on at me every second.
“Mother, I have been packed and ready for the past two days, I’m sure that I haven’t forgotten anything, and if I have it is obviously not very important” I gave her a reassuring smile. She was worried, she was a parent it was in there nature, I mean I would be worried if my 18 year old daughter was moving across the world, to take an internship.
I grabbed my bag, and pulled the last of my suitcases out to the taxi, that was waiting patiently for me to take me to the airport. I loaded the suitcases into the boot, with a little help from the driver, and walked over to my mother pulling her into a big hug. I wanted to leave, I knew that England held nothing for me, but leaving my family and friends was something that I definitely didn’t want to do. I needed to leave, I needed to leave my past behind, I knew that if I stay that the temptation wouldn’t die down, I just couldn’t take that risk.
After a few final words of goodbye, I turned and got into the taxi, closing the door behind me, I took a final glance at the place I had called home for the past 18 years. Tears fell down my face as I waved goodbye to my mother, the taxi started to drive away, this was it the start of my new life, where everything would change, I was both excited and nervous at the prospect of this new life.
I reached the airport quicker than expected, loading my luggage onto a trolley, I made my way through customer services, dropping my luggage off on the way, I handed my ticket to the hostess, and walked towards my seat in first class. Perks of being the new intern for Hollywood records sure weren’t shabby.
The flight was over and done with in no time, 10 and a half hour flight sure does go quickly when you are having an ongoing competition on battleships, with different passengers on the flight. Considering I was 18, I still had the mentality of a 6 year old. I was constantly hyper, and always had something to say or do. This was either really good or really bad depending on the situation I was in.
I found the driver that was supposed to be escorting me to my new apartment, he seemed nice fairly old but nice, he informed me that my car, and everything that I would need was already at the apartment and it shouldn’t take long to get there. I actually couldn’t believe that I was in America, a place that I had only visited in my dreams; it was everything that I expected it was beautiful. I watched the different scenery that we went past in the car ride; we arrived at my apartment within 20 minutes.
It was amazing, that was the only word that I could use to describe the site that I saw, my apartment was beautiful, it was obviously expensive you could tell just by the décor. I was excited, this was going to my home, the place that I could come back too without any fear of my parents being there, the place that I could decorate to my exact taste. I didn’t waste any time hanging around outside.
ok then so that was the first chapter...
Let me know what you think!
Thanks xoxo
