so cara this is for you. sorry it was late. i know i know. my bad. but i hope you like it

Happy 4th of July. Our independence day and my birthday. Awesome right? Eh, it's alright. We get to have cake, open presents, the norm. Fireworks are fun I guess, but it's the same every year. I wanted something different, something exciting. I woke up that morning to my mom screaming happy birthday! 
"Mom! Stop!" I yelled back throwing the covers back over my head. The light shining through my bedroom window was excrusatingly bright. 
"Oh come on Cara, it's your birthday. You're 15th birthday. Have some fun!" She said rocking me back and forth on my bed. I finally flailed off my bed and went to get dressed. I went downstairs to the smell of blueberry pancakes. Yum! That was always a tradition too, and the one thing I definitely loved. 
"Are we doing anything different this year?" I asked as we finished eating. There was silence. "PLEASE let there be something different." I continued just staring at my mom and dad. 
"Nope. Same as always. Don't you like that Cara?" My mom asked politely as she took the plates to the kitchen. No words escaped just me hitting my head on the table. 
"I'll take that as a no." My dad chuckled as he walked away. "No worries Car, I have one little surprise for you." With those words I whipped my head up and stared at him, wide-eyed. "But you'll have to wait." And there went that anticipation.

3 hours later my two best friend Rachel & Meg came over. We ran up to my room and talked about what a blah evening it was going to be. "It's always the same." I blurted out while plopping on my bed. Rachel reached over and turned my iPod on to the Jonas Brothers. Oh how amazing those boys were. 
"Yeah. But you're suppose to get a surprise so that's good right?" Meg asked shrugging her shoulders. "I guess..." I said defeatedly. I was honestly petrified about my dad's surprise. He was so dorky I was nervous. Another hour passed as we got ready for the party. I put my hair half up, half down and wore simple black skinny jeans, and a bright red top. We headed downstairs to see a bunch of my family there. 
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" They all yelled, in attempted unison, as we got down the stairs. I just smiled back. "Lets go." I whisped to them. We quickly snuck out the side door. 
"Cara! Wait!" I heard my dad yell. Maybe this was my surprise. "Here." He said handing me an envelope and walked off. 
"Well, what are you waiting for, open it!" Rachel said jumping up and down. Meg just rolled her eyes. I opened the envelope to see a small note. 
Cara. Happy birthday babygirl. I wanted to make it special for you this year. Go to the waterfront with Rachel & Meg and wait there.

Well that wasn't a lot of help. The waterfront was only a few blocks away. So we raced down there to see what my surprise was.
