When Kevin woke up the next morning, he thought his day was going to be horrible. Joe yelled at him to wake up, and it caused him to roll over and off of the bed. He hit his head on the night stand and wouldn't move when Nick asked him if he was alright. Joe came running over, and Kevin attempted to punch him in the face, but Nick grabbed his arm as Joe fell backwards to avoid his brother's fist.
"Whoa, whoa, chill," Nick said to Kevin.
"What was that for?" Joe asked, shocked at his brother's lividness.
Kevin just stared at the ground. He didn't even know what to say. He got up and headed for the shower. His brothers waited until the water was on before they started talking about him.
"Dude, something is definitely up with him," Joe said.
"Oh, really? I didn't notice," Nick said sarcasticly.
Joe glared at him for a moment before saying, "Did I do something?"
"Maybe he blames you for when he hit his head. You did yell at him."
"Is it that big of a deal? He's just touchy about that girl. We're going to MGM today, and he knows he isn't going to find her," Joe said matter of factly.
"Shut up, Joe. You don't know that." Nick was angry.
"Yeah, I do."
"I'm gonna laugh really, really hard when you're wrong."
"Alright, now you shut up."
"Me? You want me to shut up? At least I support Kevin. You just sit there and make fun of him."
"I just want him to live in reality, that's all."
"Let him be happy! What is so wrong with him being happy!" Nick slammed his hand on dresser.
"There's nothing wrong with him being happy! I'm not trying to make him upset, I just don't want him to get hurt!" Joe yelled.
"My whole point is that you don't know if he's going to get hurt!" Nick yelled back.
"How are you so sure?"
"I have faith," Nick said simply. Then, he got up and walked over to his bag to get clothes out for the day.
Joe felt like a jerk. He, once again, realized that Nick was right.
When Jennifer woke up, she didn't even think once about the previous day or at all about Kevin and the Jonas Brothers. She took a quick shower, and dressed in a pair of navy hollister shorts and a gray victoria's secret tank top. She picked out a pair of gray flip flops and white sunglasses to finish off her look. She left her hair down, slightly curly. They were only going to be at Animal Kingdom for not even half of the day before heading off to Downtown Disney. At least that was the plan her brother and her had come up with that morning.
But Jennifer was in for a real surprise when her dad knocked on the door that morning.
"Ready to head out?" her dad asked.
"Yeah, just about. Michael's putting water in his bag," Jennifer replied.
"Alright, see you down in the lobby, and then it's off to MGM!"
"What? MGM?"
"Yes, MGM. Where did you think we were going?"
"Nevermind," she said, shutting the door. She wasn't sure why she didn't want to go to MGM, she just had her heart set on seeing the animals.
When Michael came over with his bag, Jennifer shot him daggers.
"What did I do?" he asked.
"You told dad that we wanted to go to MGM, didn't you?"
"Yeah! I knew that was the only way we'd go."
"Little sneak."
"I know," he smiled and walked out of the room.
Jennifer groaned, but she would soon be over it. They met up with their parents and went to get breakfast. She had an odd feeling in her stomach, and it made it hard to eat. She ended up choosing a small bowl of Frosted Flakes and a banana.
"Are you okay?" her mom asked her.
"Yeah, why?"
"Because you aren't eating much."
"Oh, I'm just not very hungry this morning. I was snacking before bed," she lied.
Michael shot her a look, knowing full well she did not eat anything last night.
"Why did you lie about why you weren't eating?" Michael asked her later as they made their way to their car.
"It wasn't that big of a deal. I just have this weird feeling. I really wasn't hungry," Jennifer explained.
"Oh. Well, maybe it means something good is going to happen today!"
"Or maybe it means something bad is going to happen."
"I bet it's means something good."
"Alright, if you say so."
She didn't care what her brother said, she still thought that Animal Kingdom would have been a better choice.
The Jonas Brothers arrived at MGM an hour before it opened. It was easier to get into the park before there were a lot of people around. They didn't want to ride anything until the park officially opened, though, so they just sat around talking about what they wanted to go on first.
"Tower of Terror, dude!" Joe kept insisting.
"No way, Rock 'n' Roller Coaster!" Nick would say next.
They went back and forth for awhile before Joe decided they'd leave it up to Kevin.
"So what do you think, bro?" Joe asked.
Kevin didn't know that he was being asked and continued to stare at the ground.
"Kevin?" Nick asked.
"Yeah?" he sat up and turned to face his brothers.
"Tower of Terror or Rock 'n' Roller Coaster?" Joe asked.
"Rock 'n' Roller Coaster," Kevin replied before going back to his staring at the ground position.
"Kevin?" Nick asked this time.
"What?" Kevin replied, a little more harsh than he'd intended.
Nick looked a little hurt and Kevin apologized. "I'm sorry, what?"
"Are you okay? You're still looking a little down."
"I don't know what's wrong with me, guys. I just can't get into a good mood."
"You'll be in a good mood before you know it," Joe said.
"No, I won't."
"I'm sorry about earlier, Kev, but come on, you have to have some fun."
"I'll try, but I can't make any promises."
Joe and Nick sighed. They knew it was no use at all trying to cheer him up because it never worked.
MGM wasn't as packed as Jennifer thought that it would be. The lines were still long, of course, but they weren't anywhere near as long as they usually were. She took her brother on a few rides before insisting that they eat lunch. Whenever it was lunch time, Jennifer always got one of two things. She either got chicken tenders and french fries or she got a cheeseburger and fries. She went with the cheeseburger today. She had never tasted a cheeseburger quite like it anywhere. That's why she always went with the unhealthy food when she was on vacation; you could never find it better anywhere else!
As they were sitting there, Michael brought up the previous day. "So...I think you should try and contact Kevin Jonas."
"What? That's the craziest idea you've ever had, and you've had some crazy ideas!" Jennifer laughed.
"Jenn, you know he was looking at you. You know it!"
"Maybe he was, but I'm sure he does that all the time."
"You're not going to admit you love him, are you?" Michael looked disappointed.
"Mike, I don't even know the guy. How could I possibly love him?"
"If you met him, I bet you'd fall in love with him!"
"Maybe. I guess we'll never know!"
Michael groaned and continued on eating his chicken. When they were done eating, Jennifer told Michael he could pick where they went next.
"Star Wars!" he said excitedly.
"Alright, let's go!" Jennifer wasn't particularly found of this ride, but it was one of her brother's favorites.
The strange thing was, as they got closer to the ride, she started to get the same feeling she got at breakfast. The line was moderately short, but they still had a small wait time. She leaned up against the wall and wrapped her arms around her stomach, willing the feeling to go away. Michael looked at her, a concerned look on his young face.
"I'm alright," she assured him.
"You're getting that feeling again!" he exclaimed.
"Maybe. I'm not sure."
"We don't have to go on the ride if you don't want to, Jenn."
"No, no, we'll go."
What Jennifer and Michael were unaware of was the fact that Kevin, Joe, and Nick Jonas had got in line about thirty people behind them.
"I feel like such a kid, but I love this ride," Nick said.
"You are a kid, little brother," Kevin joked.
"Very funny," Nick said.
Joe was just glad that Kevin was feeling better. The past few hours they had been riding like crazy. No one had recognized them either, which surprised them thoroughly. A few people had stared at them, trying to work it out in their minds whether they would risk asking if it was them, but no one actually did. They had tried hard to not look like themselves so they could enjoy the day without being stopped a bunch of times.
Kevin was wearing a white pair of denim shorts with a skinny red belt, which was pretty much something he would normally wear, as was the white Ralph Lauren polo that was accented with a red pony. He added a pair of white loafers and a baseball cap, too. A pair of aviators hid his eyes, but he certainly didn't think that would be enough.
Joe was wearing a plain green t-shirt with navy denim shorts. He chose white Nike sneakers and white plastic sunglasses as well. What he thought kept people away was his hat, which he managed to get all of his hair into so no one could see how long it was.
Nick wore a gray tank top with black denim shorts that resembled Kevin's. He also chose a pair of white and black Nike sneakers and black plastic sunglasses. Nick thought, like Joe, that it was the hat that made him unrecognizable. As soon as he got out of the shower that morning, he combed all his hair to the top of his head and stuck a hat over it. He didn't even want to see what it was going to look like when he took it off.
After almost a half hour, Jennifer and Michael were finally able to get on the ride. Jennifer still felt weird, and she couldn't enjoy it at all. They were sitting in the front row, and she stared at the ground the entire time instead of at the screen and the little robot to the side. Michael got a kick out of it, and that was what was important to her. When it was over, they proceeded on to the gift shop.
"Can I have some of the money mom gave you for me? I want to buy something!" Michael asked.
"Yeah," she said, handing him one of his fifties, "just don't spend it all, okay?"
"I'll try not to." He flashed a smile and walked away towards the books.
As the boys got off of the ride, everyone's minds were racing. They knew what was coming, but none of them wanted to talk about it.
Joe was thinking, "Should we even stop in the store? Kevin is going to be a mess, what the heck am I supposed to do?"
Nick was thinking, "This is bad. This is really bad. Why did I suggest we go on this ride?"
Kevin was thinking, "I think I'm going to puke."
They walked at a slow pace, Joe and Nick side by side, Kevin trailing behind. Once they were in the store, they froze.
"Well, I want to buy a Yoda shirt, so I'll catch up with you guys later," Nick said, walking away from his brothers and towards a random rack of shirts.
Joe and Kevin stood by the area where they were taking pictures of little kids and putting them on Star Wars characters' bodies. Neither of them said anything. Joe was afraid of upsetting Kevin, and Kevin was afraid of upsetting himself. He was keeping his composure at the moment, and he knew anything could set him off.
Jennifer was looking at random toys on the shelves against the back wall when she turned around to see if Michael was near her. He was still looking at books a little ways down the wall, so she figured she would just stand in the same spot until he was ready to go.
Then, her eye caught someone standing a few yards away from her. He was dressed very handsomely, and his curly hair was poking out from under his white baseball cap. She stared at him for a moment, trying to place him. Then, it hit her.
"Oh my God," Jennifer said under her breath. "It can't be, can it?"
She got up the nerve to walk over to him and find out.
Kevin wasn't paying any attention, until Joe slammed his elbow into his side, forcing him to look to his left. As soon as he turned, she was there. He felt his head spin and his breathing became shallow. He held onto Joe to keep from losing his balance.
"Are you Kevin Jonas?" Jennifer asked him quietly, trying to be considerate of the fact that he didn't want attention drawn to him.
Kevin opened his mouth, but no words came out. Joe nudged him in the back, which made him mumble, "Uhyeah."
Jennifer *CENSORED*ed an eyebrow and smirked.
"Oh boy," Joe said and couldn't help but laugh.
Kevin still couldn't utter anything normal, so Jennifer took the initiative and introduced herself. "I'm Jennifer Shan." She held out her hand to shake.
"I'm...Kevin?" he said it as if he wasn't sure.
Joe burst out laughing at this, and Jennifer looked past Kevin to show him she was also amused.
"Hi, Kevin. I'm sorry to bother you, I just thought I'd take a chance and see if it was you."
"Are you a Jonas Brothers fan?" Joe asked.
"Well, I guess. My little brother is the real fan in the family, I just like to listen to your music. I guess that would consider me a fan?"
Kevin took their conversation as flirting and got up the nerve to talk. "It's really nice to meet you, Jennifer," he said sweetly.
"It's nice to meet you, too." She flashed him a smile that made him melt.
"I'll leave you two to talk," Joe said, rushing away to find Nick.
"You're...are you really talking to me right now?" Kevin asked, sounding completely star struck.
"Shouldn't I be asking you that?" Jennifer laughed again. "You're funny."
"I'm sorry, I just...you recognized me?"
"Yeah, I could tell it was you. I'm sorry to bother you, I just wanted to come say hi."
"No, I'm so glad that you did," Kevin said, smiling. He then saw that Joe and Nick were starting to walk out of the store, and he knew he'd have to catch up with them and let them know he wanted to walk around with Jennifer. "Hey, I have to go talk to my brothers real quick, but would you mind meeting up later?"
"Meeting up later?"
"Yeah, we could walk around...maybe get a popsicle or something?" Kevin wished he could cross his fingers because he was really afraid of her answer.
"Oh, that would be great. Actually, I should probably get my brother back to my parents, too."
"Um, here let me get your number."
Jennifer gave it to him, he programmed it into his phone, and then texted her so she would have his as well.
"I'm extremely surprised that you trust me with your number. You hardly know me."
"I would trust you with anything," Kevin said, almost as if he were in a daze.
A wide smile spread across Jennifer's face. "Wow, you're a cutie."
"I'm sorry, I know I'm such a dork. Listen, I have so much to tell you, so I promise I'll call you within the hour."
"You have stuff to tell me?" She was very confused.
"I'll call you," he said as he walked away and ran to his brothers.
After Kevin left Jennifer turned to where her brother was and saw him staring at her, jaw dropped to the floor. She laughed and walked over to him.
"Are you serious! I told you! I told you! I told you!" Michael said excitedly.
"I know, I can't believe it. It was so odd. He seemed so...so...nervous around me. I totally don't get it, Mike. Totally don't get it," Jennifer said.
"Are you guys going to see each other again?"
"Yeah, later on. Do you mind if I take you back to mom and dad?"
"No! As long as you promise to give me details later, of course."
"You are such a girl. But okay, I promise."
Before Kevin caught up to Nick and Joe, Joe was telling Nick all about it.
"He was so freaked, you could totally tell," Joe said.
"I can't believe it was her! And I missed it!" Nick said.
"Dude, it was so weird. I was in complete shock, but definitely not as much as Kevin was."
Then, Kevin joined them with the biggest smile that they'd ever seen their older brother wear. "Well, boys, I'm pretty sure I will never doubt myself again."
"Dude, I am so sorry for anything I said," Joe apologized.
"Yeah, me too," Nick added.
"Hey, no worries. It doesn't matter anymore. I found her, and we're hanging out later."
"What are you gonna tell mom and dad?" Nick asked.
"That I met a girl. What else?"
"You think they'll be cool with it if you give her your number?" Joe asked.
"Too late."
"Dang, you work fast, bro," Joe said.
"I'm not letting her get away," Kevin said seriously.
"I'm happy for you," Nick said with a bright smile, clapping Kevin on the back.
"Thanks, I just hope she likes me."
Joe and Nick laughed softly as they made their way to where their parents were.
After Michael was safe with their mom and dad, Jennifer sat down on a random bench to wait for Kevin's call. When her phone finally rang, her heart stopped. It was actually him!
"Hello?" she answered.
"Hey, Jennifer!" Kevin said happily.
"Where are you?" she asked him.
"Right behind you."
She stood up and turned around. There he was, walking towards her. They both hung up, and she started walking towards him. When they reached each other, Kevin opened his arms and embraced her. She smiled into his shoulder, hugging him back.
"So what do you say we get a popsicle?" Kevin suggested.
"Sounds good to me," Jennifer agreed.
They walked a little ways until they reached a stand that sold the big colorful popsicles. Kevin bought them both and handed her her's.
"You didn't have to pay for me," Jennifer said.
"I wanted to. You deserve to be taken care of," Kevin said.
"Can you please explain to me now, why you think you know me so well?" Jennifer asked, trying not to sound rude or offended.
"Well, you're going to think that I'm...a creeper or something."
"No, I won't," she promised.
Kevin sighed. He was afraid to tell her, but he knew that he had to. But how would she react? What if she did think it was creepy, and she never wanted to see him again? He wouldn't be able to handle that. Then again, she might think it's amazing and wonderful. That's how he felt about it.
All at once he spilled out his dream, adding how he had seen her at the concert, and that he had been miserable without her. Once he was finished, she didn't say anything for a minute or so. Kevin was afraid to talk, he just bit off some of his popsicle and stayed silent.
All of a sudden she said, "That's absolutely incredible. I mean, if you are being completely and totally honest with me right now, that's just insanely cool."
"I swear, I am not lying. I really did feel like I was supposed to be with you."
"Well, I'm here! Am I worse than what you were expecting?"
"You're exactly what I was expecting, and once I get to know you, I'm sure you'll be even more."
"Stop being so sweet," she said playfully. "The weird thing is, I had the oddest feeling this morning and when I got on the Star Wars ride. Maybe this is why?"
"There was definitely something working to get us together. Couldn't you feel it?"
"I could, and I liked it."
"This is so cool," Kevin said out of no where.
"You think this is cool? Um, hello, Kevin Jonas bought me a popsicle in Disney World!"
They both laughed and continued their walk through the park. Their popsicles were both eaten within ten minutes, and that freed up their hands. Kevin had his swingly dangerously close to Jennifer's. Jennifer had hers close by her side, not sure if she should move it. Both were completely clueless that the other wanted to hold hands, and so it never ended up happening.
"So, tell me about yourself!" Kevin said before quickly adding, "I know that's a broad topic, but you can tell me whatever you want."
"Well, I'm eighteen, I like to read, and I have no idea what I want to do with my life!" Jennifer said.
Kevin laughed, "You seem like you would know what you wanted."
"I used to think I did, but now I just can't figure it out. I'm not going to college because I honestly thought it would be a waste of my time when I didn't even know what I wanted to do."
"That's understandable. It's definitely not a bad thing, either."
"Yeah, I guess. It just seems like my parents are a little disappointed in me because of it. I just don't think it's right for me."
"Hey, don't think about that. You're a great person, and college isn't for everyone."
"I hope you're right," Jennifer said smiling up at him.
"I am." He smiled, too.
They talked for awhile before Kevin's phone rang. It was his mom.
"Hello?" he answered.
"Hey, Kev, we're gonna head out and get dinner. Want to meet us outside the entrance?" his mom said.
"Can Jennifer come?" Kevin asked quietly.
"Jennifer? Is that the girl you are with?"
"Yeah. Mom, she's really great. I want you to meet her."
"Okay, if you want to bring her along, we'd love to have her."
"Thanks, I love you," Kevin said.
"I love you, too. See you soon!"
They hung up, and Kevin turned to Jennifer with a bright smile on his face.
"What?" she asked. "What's going on?"
"Would you like to have dinner with my family and I?" Kevin asked, just as much of a gentleman as ever.
"Your family? Are they okay with that?"
"Yes, my mom would love for you to join us."
"Then, yes, I will certainly have dinner with you!"
He smiled wider, clearly relieved that she hadn't shot him down. They hugged for a few moments before breaking free and walking towards the direction of the entrance. There was still no hand holding.
Jennifer was quite nervous about meeting Kevin's family, afterall, she did just meet him today. Kevin, however, was completely at ease and very excited that he had a special girl to bring to dinner for once. Joe and Nick frequently invited random girls to hang out, but none of them had ever invited a girl to dinner with their family. He was hoping that it showed Jennifer he meant to see her again.
When Jennifer saw the rest of the Jonas family standing in a group, she couldn't believe it. She was actually going to eat dinner with them! But at the same time, she realized they were just another family. The fact that she wasn't a huge Jonas Brothers fan also helped her keep her cool around them.
"Hey guys, this is Jennifer," Kevin introduced once they'd reached his family.
A chorus of "Nice to meet you" rang out, and she shook everyone's hand, even little Frankie's. As they walked to the rented van, Jennifer heard them discussing Planet Hollywood and guessed that was their destination for dinner. She loved Planet Hollywood, and she couldn't imagine the kind of atmosphere it would have tonight.
When they got to the van, Denise and Kevin Sr. got into the front seats, while Kevin and Jennifer sat in the two middle seats. That left the three back seats for Joe, Nick, and Frankie.
"See I knew they would like you," Kevin whispered in Jennifer's ear.
"Hey, mom, can we take a little detour? I am in serious need of a shower," Nick said as he pointed to his head. He knew his hair was a complete wreck.
"Yeah, I suppose we have time. Jennifer you don't mind, do you?" Mrs. Jonas asked.
"Oh, no, it's fine," Jennifer replied.
When they reached the hotel, Jennifer had no clue whether she was supposed to go upstairs with Kevin, or wait downstairs or in the hallway...
Her thoughts were cut short when Kevin stopped by her side, motioning for her to follow him into the elevator. They sat on the couch in the brothers' villa, while Joe and Nick took turns with the shower.
"Are you sure your mom doesn't mind that I'm in here?" Jennifer asked worriedly.
"She's completely cool with it. She trusts me, it's not a big deal," Kevin answered, trying to show her that his parents weren't as overprotective as everyone thought.
"I'm sorry I'm so...nervous...I mean, I just met you today, and it's been crazy!"
"I think I'm more nervous than you are. I'm surprised you didn't think I was a complete idiot when you first met me."
"I thought you were adorable. Honestly though, I didn't have any intentions besides saying hey. See, I didn't tell you this, but my brother told me that he thought you were staring at me at the concert, so I figured if you remembered me..." she trailed off because Kevin had started to grin.
"Oh, I was definitely staring at you."
"Creeper!" Jennifer joked.
"You're beautiful," Kevin said.
They didn't get very far after that because Joe came out and told Kevin he could have the shower. He hated to leave Jennifer alone, but he knew he needed a shower. He promised he wouldn't be long and then left her sitting on the couch.
The hotel the boys were staying at was the Yacht and Beach Club Resort, and she knew her brother knew exactly where that was, so she called him quickly.
"Michael! I need you help!" she said quickly and quietly.
"What's up?" he asked, ready for anything.
"Can you bring me clothes? I'm going to eat with the boys tonight, and I really look like crap."
"Yeah, what do you want?"
"Okay, the navy blue polka dotted dress, you know the short one?"
"Got it, what shoes?"
"White cork heels, please!"
"Alright, what resort am I riding my bike to?"
"Yacht and Beach. The one we stayed at last year. I'll meet you out front, thanks!" she hung up because Nick came out.
"Hey, it's nice to meet you," Nick said, sitting down next to her on the couch.
"You too," Jennifer nodded.
"So...pretty crazy how things work out."
"Very crazy. I still don't believe it." She paused for a minute and then said, "Listen, I know you guys might be a little skeptical about all this, but I promise I'm not out to hurt your brother. He's amazingly sweet, and if there is something there for us, that would be great."
"After meeting you, I have no doubt you're perfect for him. He really likes you a lot, and you've only known him for a day. I think that should tell everyone something," Nick said.
They talked a little bit more about themselves, getting to know each other, and then Jennifer received a text message from her brother that let her know he w
