"What do you mean you don't want the tour?!" My manager screamed at me.
"I mean I'm not taking it." I said in a calm voice.
"This is the dumbest thing you've ever done Charlie, the dumbest!" he yelled at me as i stormed out of his office.
I couldn't believe I had actually turned down the tour, but I was hoping it was the right choice. I had been waiting for a big break like this for over two years but now that it came I had more important things too me than fame and fortune...at least I hope. I've been playing my music for who knows how long and been struggling for even longer. Music was all I could think about until about three years ago.
I was at a local dance club on Friday nights trying to sell my music to the younger crowds on karaoke night but of course....it didn't work. I finished my last song and I heard three people clap in the back, it was too dark to see there faces. That was better than the usual amount of I don't know zero....but it still didn't give me the adrenalin rush I wanted. I wanted to be performing in front of thousands of people every night hearing them scream my name “CHARLIE CHARLIE! ENCORE.” but more than likely that was never going to happen. I just wanted to be like my mother, the music industry loved her. She was really big in her era but I never wanted to become some body just because of her. I wanted to make some one out of my self and by myself.
I was walking out of the bathroom when I was stopped by a tall, tan, muscular guy who look around my age.
“Hi, I’m Joe. I love your voice, you were amazing up there.” he said.
He extended his hand. I shook it, boy did he have one heck of a handshake.
“Uh thanks, I’m Charlie I usually don’t even get anyone to applaud let along tell me they liked it.” I blushed and tucked back my black hair behind my ears.
“Do you want to hang with me and my brothers?” He asked pointing back to a both with two other guys.
“Sure.”
“Great, come and meet them.” He smiled.
I began to follow this “Joe” character so far I liked him.
“Hey guys this is Charlie.” He said introducing me to his brothers.
“Hey I’m Nick.” the one with the curly hair said.
“and I’m Kevin.” the eldest said.
Ever since that night in the dance club me and Joe had been inseparable. We started out as friends but it turned into so much more. I’ve been in love with Joe since the first time I’ve ever met him. I didn’t even know that he was famous when I had first met him. Trying to focus on my own music I really wasn’t all that in touch with other music. He was always gone on tour so we never had much time to spend together but being with Joe made it worth the wait. Finally after three long years Joe decided to stop touring for a while so that we could be together, but that was when I got offered my fist tour in Europe for 7months. Three years ago I would have taken it, but not now when I have Joe. I couldn’t wait to tell him what I had done. He told me he had something special planned for us tonight. I was so anxious. He told me it was formal so I decided to go and get ready. I wore my elegant Green Dress with my lace black high heels and to pin up my hair. After a final look over I was ready.
Joe didn’t give me a place, he just sent a limo driver to pick me up.
I thought Joe would be in the limo…but he wasn’t.
When we pulled up I saw a rose garden set up with beautiful lights and a band playing soft music but the best thing Iof all was Joe looking dreamy in his tux. know looking at him I had made the right choice.
I walked up to Joe and I couldn’t help but smile.
“My lady.” He said offering me his elbow.
“Why, thank you.” I giggled.
Joe seated me to a table with rose petals and candle lit dinner. I couldn’t believe how beautiful every thing looked. I had to take a moment to soak it all in.
“Joe, I have something to tell you.” I said looking at him and taking my hands in his.
“What is it, Charlie?” He asked.
“I was offered a seven month tour in Europe today….” I said.
“Oh….” I could tell he was upset.
“….but I turned it down.” I smiled.
Joe looked up and me his eyes began to well with tears.
“I’m so glad you said that.”
“It was the easiest decision I had ever made, all I want now is to be with you.” I smiled.
“That makes this all the more perfect.”
I was confused, what was he talking about? All of a sudden I saw Joe get out of his seat and kneel on one knee to the right of me.
“Charlie, ever since I first saw you, first heard your voice I knew you were the girl for me. You’ve put up with me for three whole years and you’ve loved me unconditionally ever since. I love you, and I want you to be mine for ever more….Charlie, will you marry me?” he said pulling an engagement ring out of his coat pocket.
It was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen, I couldn’t believe this. The person I love more than anything just asked me to marry them. My eyes began to cloud up with tears.
“Yes!” I said through my tears.
He stood up and lifted me into his arms and whispered in my ear, “I love you.”
Looking up at the stars I whispered back, “I’ve always loved you.”
At the beginning of today I thought I had just given up my biggest dream when really, all I did was make another one come true.
