After this I'm gonna work on finishing up "Open". I'm sure you're all stoked for the finale and all seeing as how JOE KNOWS! Joseph always knows. Haha. Enjoy this chapter though. It's kind of a filler, but completely necessary.
CHAPTER THREE;
The Date...Or not?
So here I was. Riding the nine o'clock metro with a girl I'd watched from afar for so long. The subway wasn't as packed as I'd thought it to be. Only a few adults who'd probably taken night jobs in Atlantic City. I wasn't sure where I was heading. I was just following this girl. Lily. There were a thouand places she could be leading me. Her house, her favorite hangout, her secret lair. I laughed at my own thoughs. This green-eyed beauty wasn't your everyday superhero, unless -in this case- the damsel in distress was the serenity of the world. The cable car rumbled to a stop, and she began walking without a word, turning around to make sure I was following. I kept pace with her, knowing my clumsy-footed nature didn't look nearly as well as her signature gliding.
"If you don't mind me asking," I chimed in curously, "Where are we going?" She bit the inside of her cheek. Obviously she hadn't given it much thought. She laughed nervously, and then glanced up at me. "Do you drink coffee?"
Starbucks! That's were we ended up. Starbuck's at 9:30. Was she trying to keep me up all night wired on caffeine? I sipped my White Chocolate Mocha, burning my tongue with the hot liquid. She giggled at my discontented expression. "You alright?" She asked, mildly concerned for the well being of my taste buds. "I'm fine. Are you alright?" I countered, prying for te reason she'd looked so upset in the park earlier. She sighed, aware of what I was getting at here. "Jeremy and I don't see eye to eye. He's very..." She searched her mind for the right word "Agressive. And apparently I'm not. He doesn't understand things. He's--" She cut herself off, keeping herself from venting to a stranger. "It's alright." I assured her. "We'll keep everything on a need to know basis." She smiled thoughtfully and slurped her Frappacino. I felt idiotic drinking this sophisticated coffee. I had only ordered it to impress her. She was probably into those drink-my-coffee-black-or-nothing-at-all types of guys.
"So, shouldn't you be on some kind of tour or something?" She questioned, quickly changing the subject. I shook my head, "No. My brothers and I are working on stuff in the sudio right now. Trying to get the inventive juices flowing." I was suprised by how many words I'd used in the last couple of minutes, and how Lily's seemingly inviting behavior prompted my boldness. "Really? Any luck with that?" The questions just kept flowing, but I answered greatfully. She was obviously trying to keep conversation. "Eh. I've had writer's block lately, but I think eventually, when I find out what's blocking my mind, I'll pull a good song out of it." Again, overly wordy. "Hm. I see." She said scutiniznig me, "When I feel uneasy I sit in my mother's zen garden. She bought all these exotic plants and relects from the Japanese countryside. It's relaxing." I surpressed chuckles. What a hippie! At least she was cute one. "Maybe I should take a trip to Japan then." I joked. "Well, if you promise not to infect my sanctuary with you celebrity germs, maybe I could let you borrow it sometime."
I smiled. She was truly something else. Offering up her urban oasis so quickly? How kind-hearted. "How's tomorrow?" She frowned a little. "I have work, I'm a--"
"Pre-school asistant."
She looked horrified at my knowledge. I'd probably creeped her out. I wanted to kick myself in the head for blurting out that information. I quickly felt the need to explain, "I have a friend in banking. I was curious." Her expression eased and she bursted into a fit of snickers. "You pulled my credit information?" My cheeks flushed from my obvious mortification, but then her howling winded down. "Well, Bellview is the name of the school. Maybe you can visit me me on my lunch break."
Would I pass up that opportunity?

CHAPTER FOUR;
Do it for the kids.
It didn't take long for me to find Bellview Elementary the next day. I managed to manuever my way through the town unscathed, thanks to my trust MapQuest print out. I'd arrive too early, unfortunately, and had to wait outside the classroom until their lunch bell rang. I stared down at the creviced printer paper wondering if Lily relied on computer just as much as every other American did. I doubted it though. She was different like that.
Moments later I heard the pitter-patter of tiny light-up sneakers by the door, and then, dinging echoed through the hallway. Children scurried frantically out to the tables in the courtyard, zipping past me. Lily stepped out slowly behind them, wearing a conservative outfit. Something your typical librarian would be wearing. It looked good on her though. She smiled sweetly at me, and I return it with a smile of my own. She mouthed a "Hello" and motioned for me to follow her.
The intense heat of the sun was enough to make my roll up the sleeves of my white oxford. Lilian had collected her hair into a neat bun. We sat at a table, and she kept a very close eye on her social, little students. "Thanks for coming." She said, without looking at me. I nodded, "It was no problem."
"But still," She continued, "'It's appreciated."
"You're hard to resist." I didn't mean for that to come out the way it did, but she seemed to think nothing of it. "Really?" Her eyebrows pinched up, "I don't get that a lot." This shocked me. "What?" I asked, unsure of what else I could say. "A lot of people, men mainly, are... Put off by me?" I shook my head disagreeing completely. "I guess it had something to do with my headstrong behavior." She shrugged as if was nothing. "I couldn't imagine someone ignoring you." She chuckled, "It's seems imagineable enough for me." Her voice was sincere, but I couldn't believe it.
Then I realized something. She was one of those girls. The ones any typical male would overlook, because they're intimidated by her blatant knowledgeability. I glanced at her, without saying a word. She was still keeping a watchful eye on everything, and squinting into the sun. "Lee, let go of her hair!" She shouted, standing up to intervene if the little boy defied her any further. I knew that she wouldn't really punish him. She was too nice. 'Lee' persisted, and I rose up to meet her. "Stop pulling her hair." I demanded. Children always obeyed someone they didn't know well. Especially younger children. The boy stopped, dropping his hand into his lap.
Lily was shaking her head. "Unbelieveable." She muttered under her breath. I laughed. Most of the kids shot their stares in our direction now. All of them looked curious. "Miss Lily, is that your husband?" She laughed dry as if she had heard a bad joke, leaving no hope for me, "No." She replied simply. Shortly. Surely. I hoped I didn't look as disappointed as I felt. Sure, I wasn't really looking to marry this girl, but she made the idea of me even dating her sound ridiculous.
She looked down at the thin, silver watch she was wearing. "Time to pick up!" She informed. She looked at me expectantly, and I caught on. "Uhh, I should be going." She smirked, "Coffee Saturday morning?" I bobbed me head, "Same place as yesterday?"
Her grin grew even wider, "I'll see you there then."

"Shortly. Surely. I hoped I didn't look as disappointed as I felt. Sure, I wasn't really looking to marry this girl, but she made the idea of me even dating her sound ridiculous." That part made me smile, it sounds exactly like something Nick would think, in my opinion. Fantastic chapter my friend, I missed this story :]
Peace and love;
Loes.
