wow I suck at writing lately, but this is a one-shot for Lindsey, cause she requested one :)

I've bowed out from this and can I say I'm sick
Now it's time for me to stand up and make you hear me

My best friend, had been my best friend since I can remember. He was always there for me. Then he hit it big with his brothers and things changed. He seemed to become different, never listening to me, never hearing things I wanted or needed to tell him. Especially about how I felt about him. Why wouldn't Joe listen.

This world you rob innocence you never gave us a chance
We were born believing you had all the answers for me

You finally were back from tour, only for a week, but it was enough to finally speak the truth. 
"Joe? Can we talk for a sec?" I asked lightly, hoping you'd finally listen.
"Now Lindsey? I'm so tired." Joe groaned lying his head on the couch. I gave out a slight sigh, loud enough for him to hear. 
"Whatever. I guess nothings important now." I said hurt a little, and walking towards the door.
"Linds, what are you talking about?" He asked a little confused. 
"Joe, I like you. I've wanted to tell you this for months, but you've always been to busy or to tired, so you've never had time to even listen. So why would it matter?" I said in one swift breathe.

For the next several days we didn't speak, which oddly was a relief. I needed to tell Joe, yet I was terrified what he'd think. The fear that I had before I told him drifted away slowly and I was happy that I told him, and soon didn't care as much, what he felt.

If we don't speak who will

Stuck without a voice and we are tired of being silenced 

The day before Joe, Nick, and Kevin headed back on tour I decided to finally talk to him, to see how he felt finally. The two minute walk to his house felt like eternity, and my heart sank at the sight of his door. I knocked on the door to hear it echo through the near silent neighborhood. The door creaked open to reveal the boy who stole my heart. A smile appeared on his face and he escorted me inside. We talked for awhile. His heart was waiting for someone else, which shattered mine. I walked out of the door, never turning back, with tears in my eyes. Lindsey, how stupid of you. Joe is famous now, he can have any girl he wanted I thought to myself.

Two months later I sat at home, heart not aching anymore. I learned to realize my life shouldn't revolve around a boy who didn't care. I flipped through the channels until I got to E! There wasn't anything else on. All of a sudden Nick appeared on screen which made me jump. That only meant one thing. Joe was there too. 
"So Joe we hear there's a special girl in your life?" The reporter asked eagerly which made me slump onto the couch.
"Maybe. I'm unsure right now. She told me she liked me, but I think I broke her heart." He said in an unsually sad voice, which made me curious. 
"Really? Well why don't you tell her how you feel right now?" He asked pointing towards the camera. I focused on the screen in front of me, and saw Joe stare directly into the camera. "Lindsey, I'm sorry. Please forgive me?" He said bluntly. My heart skipped a beat realizing what he said. But in the back of my mind I knew it could never work.

My phone buzzed with the familiar tone that was set for Joe. I took a deep breathe in and answered. "Joe, before you say anything, I'm flattered about what you said. But I'm unsure now. I don't want to get my heart broken again. My world doesn't revolve around you anymore." I said hesitantly. I knew it had to be done, but I felt like breaking into tears.
"Really? I understand. Lindsey you will always be my best friend, and maybe someday." He said with a little hope in his voice. I smiled as we talked for a few more minutes. My fears were gone, I took my chances, and we start again.
