Chapter 2
“Okay what did I tell you about accumulating stuff.” Izzie rolled her eyes and turned toward her father. “That I shouldn’t buy anything because I have enough of it.” “That’s correct. I said no more buying anything because you don’t need anymore stuff. So what did you do? You went out and bought more stuff.” Shaking her head she turned back around and continued taping the box in front of her, ignoring her father’s grumblings as he continued to rearrange boxes. Apparently she hadn’t done it properly. A stack of boxes came out of a bedroom and were dropped to the floor revealing a short brunette with an annoyed expression on her face. “Thanks for your help carrying these boxes out. I really appreciate it.” “No problem.” Izzie felt the back of her head being slapped as Alexis walked by in search of water. Izzie labeled the box she had just finished packing and wrote it down on the list she had made of what was in each box. Satisfied that everything of hers was done she turned around to Alex. “Okay what’s in your boxes so we can put it on the list?” “What’s with you and your lists,” she replied drinking her water. “I have to know where all my stuff is in the boxes and it’s also easier to unpack. Now what’s in each of your boxes so we can put it on the list?” “I don’t need a list. Unlike you I don’t have that much stuff.” “See? Even Alex thinks you have too much stuff,” her dad reiterated as he came around the corner. “Ugh! Again with the stuff! I get it! Now can we move on?” Izzie went on to go grab another box and brought it over to the living room. “Okay, where’s my list?” “Izzie, come on.” Alex stomped over to where Izzie was, grabbed an armload of items that still had to be packed, and threw them inside the box. Izzie watched her with wide eyes as Alex continued. “Oh no what are you doing?” “I’m throwing your stuff in a box so we can get out of here!” Izzie opened her mouth but Alex quickly interrupted. “No we’re not using the stupid list. I want to get out of this stupid place.” Izzie knew she had lost the fight and put everything that was left into the last box and taped it. “Okay, everything’s packed.” She pointed the movers that had come back up over to where the boxes were and looked around making sure that they had everything with them. Izzie and Alexis went through the few rooms making sure they had everything so they could get going and start their new adventure. The two friends had met through school at community college getting their general classes done so they could transfer to a university. They had both moved from different states and had bonded for their mutual dislike of the city they lived in. They had been nearly inseparable ever since. They were always there for each other and when Izzie had received a letter saying she had been accepted to the visual communications program she wanted to go to Alex decided to move with her. So here they were, taking one last look around their apartment, getting ready for their biggest adventure yet. “Alright, I think we have it all.” Izzie hugged her dad, since he was driving home he wanted to get going. “Good luck kiddo, call me if you girls need anything or have any problems.” “We will Dad.” He said goodbye to Alex and was off, leaving the two girls in an empty apartment. Izzie grabbed her purse and car keys and took the last glance around before turning toward Alex, who had a large grin on her face. “Let’s hit the road to LA!”
