Gah, triple post. =/
Chapter 01:
"Nicole? Can I ask you something?"
"Anything," I said as I fiddled with his shirt collar.
"Why are you going?"
"Huh?" I straightened up in my spot next to him and glared. "I have to go, Nick."
"No you don't; it's just an internship," he stated boldly.
"Yeah, just an internship that could lead to making my dreams come true!" My voice started to raise, but I quickly lowered it, knowing that yelling wouldn't get us anywhere. "Do you love me?"
"More than anything."
"If you love me, Nick, you'll want me to go. If you get to follow your dreams, why can't I do the same?" I asked, wondering why he was acting so oddly.
He shifted awkwardly in his place as he gazed around the room. "I don't think I can afford to lose you again."
I placed my right hand in his left, with a happy yet sad look on my face. I was truly touched that he loved me this much, but I was sad that I actually had to leave him. "I could never let that happen."
"Promise?" he asked as hope filled his chocolate brown eyes.
"I promise."
"Great," he smiled. "You know, I am happy that you got this internship. I just couldn't accept the fact that you'd be gone."
"It took me a while too, actually. I love New York, but only for vacations." I briefly laughed at my own comment and continued, "It might be a little tough to live there for three months." I looked at my feet, letting a tear slide down my cheek and hit the carpeted floor.
"Hey." Nick lifted my chin, trying his best to put on a true smile. "You'll be fine."
"Thanks," I mumbled.
"Anytime." He wrapped his arms around my waist, a real smile taking place of the previous one.
I smirked at him as I smashed my lips up against his.
He pulled away after a few seconds at the sound of a door slamming shut. "Oh, hey Joe," Nick muttered awkwardly, sitting up.
"Hey, you two." Joe hung his coat and his scarf on the coat-rack conveniently located next to the front door. "Having fun?"
"Not really; just talking," I butted in.
"Mhmm, sure." A smirk spread across his thin lips. "Well, I'm going upstairs, so you two can get back to...'talking'." He jogged up the wooden staircase and disappeared down the hallway.
We both began cracking up, slightly emabarrassed that Joe had walked in when we were kissing.
Kind of a filler; sorry.
