Nick lifted his arm to turn off the alarm clock. This was the last day of being cooped up in this uncomfortable bed on a very noisy tour bus. He loved touring but after a while he needed his own bed and wanted to relax.
He was looking forward to surprising Jules tonight. Jules was his girlfriend of about 2 years.
They had been friends forever but finally decided that their relationship was more than friends. Anyway, he hated leaving Jules at home on her own but he knew he had to do it as part of his work. He had told her last week that he would be home tomorrow. However, he was actually coming home today and wanted to surprise her.
He got up from the bed and walked along to the small bathroom on the bus. He looked at his tired reflection in the mirror. Hearing other people waking up on the bus he decided to grab the shower while he could.
Afterwards he got changed and then went into the kitchen area where Joe was trying to cook some toast with difficulty. “I can’t even cook toast look it’s all burnt!” He said.
Nick sighed, “Maybe if you didn’t leave it for 10 minutes it would be ok you id!ot”. Joe just stared at him, giving him evils as Nick walked back to his bed. Picking up his notebook he sat down and began to write things down that came to his head. He began to stare out of the window when suddenly his phone began to vibrate; he picked it up and smiled at the name on the screen, Jules.
“Hey babe!” she said,
“Hey, how are you then? He asked.
“Ok, missing you like freak though”
Nick sighed then answered, “Yeah me too but not that long till I see you!.
“Well that’s still tomorrow, oh well. What you doing today then, you got another gig tonight?” she said. Nick suddenly thought how he was going to get round this one without her knowing. “Um, well not that I know of but I think we have an interview later”.
“Right, ok well I was just calling to check what time you would be back that’s all”, she said.
“Um about 7 pm is that ok? he replied.
“yeah ok well see you tomorrow then, i love you. She said.
“yeah, i love you too” he said. He then hung up. He felt mean lying to her as he was going to see her tonight but he knew that she wouldn’t mind really.
Nick began to pack his bags as the driver said they would be back soon. He couldn’t wait to see her. He had just finished packing when the bus stopped. He said his goodbyes to his brothers and got off walking up the small path to his house. Strangely enough there were no lights on. He went up to the door and inserted the key. As the door swung open it revealed something that he had never expected to see..
