Chapter 1
"Hello boys! Oh I've missed you so much!" Aunt Julie enveloped us all into a huge bear hug as soon as we stepped into the house. It had a homey feeling to it, with it's bright tables and furniture scattered everywhere. The table was set up for dinner for six, and the smell of spaghetti drifted towards me.
"Hey Aunt Julie!" Joe said and set down his bags.
"How was the drive? Are you boys hungry? Are you tired?" She was full of questions and I couldn't help but to chuckle at her eagerness.
"Nicholas, is that you?! You have gotten so tall! Look at those muscles! I bet your fighting off the ladies!" She smiled and clasped her hands together in sheer joy.
"Nah not really." I bleakly replied. I'm terribly tired and all I want to do is relax. Driving almost five hours in a tightly packed jeep with two other guys isn't my idea of fun.
Suddenly a streak of orange flashed before my eyes and I looked down and saw a cat peering up at me. She came towards me and rubbed her body against my pant leg. Cat's aren't a favorite of mine, and I really just try to stay from away from them as much as possible. But I actually kind of like this one. I bent down to pet her and she let out a soft and smooth purr and rubbed her head on my hand.
"That's Sophie." I looked up at Aunt Julie and smiled.
"So Aunt Julie do you have anywhere for us to take our bags?" Kevin asked and held up his black suitcase in his hand.
"Oh yes yes yes, right upstairs here, c'mon boys." She led us up the stairs and opened the door to a bright blue room with a large bed. "Kevin that's your room." She started to walk away and soon opened another door, leading to a green room with green furniture and another large bed. "Joseph you can sleep in here." Yet again she continued walking down the hallway and I figured we were heading to my room. Good thing because my arms are hurting like crazy from holding all these stupid bags.
"Nick, here's your room." And opened the door to a pitch black room. She stepped inside and turned on the light, and revealed a small closet with a few comforters laying on the ground. My mouth dropped open in disbelief. There's NO WAY I am staying in here. I gazed up at her with a look that was full of shock she smiled and grabbed my hand.
"Nick sweetheart, I was KIDDING! I would never ever ever ever ever do that to you .. I'd do it to Joseph though." I smiled at this and heaved a sigh of relief. Thank god.
She led me down the hall to a fairly sized room, with a red bed spread and beige walls.
"Why don't you unpack, and then come on down for some dinner?" She said and then closed the door behind her.
There were two big windows with a small seat placed in front of them. I felt something rubbing against my leg, but it was just Sophie.
I placed my blue suitcase on the bed, and started to unpack all my clothes, and fit them inside of the dresser. I'm so hungry and tired, and all I really wanna do is sleep. I walked across the room into what I thought was a closet, but it really was a bathroom. The ugliest rug I've ever seen in my entire life rested on the floor. It's like it was just screaming for me to stomp on it. It was dark blue with swiggly designs of various colors scattered all over it.
"Oh my goodness. Are you serious?" I said when I spotted the kitty litter box. "No, no, no, no there is absolutely, no way."
"Ay bro, are you done unpackin." I heard Joe say from behind me.
I stared at him with a blank look on my face and then pointed my finger towards the kitty litter box.
"What the heck is that?" He asked. I really don't think were related. He's such an idiot!
"See that butterfly right there?" I pointed up to a ceramic butterfly hanging on the mirror.
"Yea dude." He said.
"That butterfly probably has more of a brain than you do."
"Huh?" He said and scratched his head.
"Ughh!" I exclaimed and pushed past him into my room. I really want to be alone right now, but I knew Joseph wasn't going to allow it.
"Wait was that like .. an insult?" Joe said while he followed me.
"Nevermind Joe. Forget I said anything."
"Well alright dude. Anyway Aunt Julie told me to come up here to get you. Time for some grub!" He punched me in my arm and flew out of my room. I really don't even have the energy to chase him, and knowing Joe he'd probably like cry or something if I hit him.
The hallway was sort of slippery so I had to be careful not to fall. But as I neared the stairs I felt my legs slip from beneath me, and I started falling face first down the stairs. I landed at an odd angle and I felt the pain crawling up my body, until it reached my head.
"Great, just great. GOD HELP ME!" I yelled and looked up at the ceiling as folded my hands and rested my head on top of them. I'd barely been here twenty minutes and I was already miserable. Wow so I guess it can be established that I'm not having any fun at all, and I honestly cannot wait until I can leave.
