I promised Crystal a one-shot like years ago, and things just kept me from writing it. Then I actually get focused on it, and I absolutely hate the way it was taking me. So I gave up on that idea and just wrote.
I hope you like it Crystal! I love youuu!
Making Plans
“Okay so here’s the plan,” Ashley said causing the other two girls in the room to groan.
“Oh my GAWD, Ashley, not another plan.” Stephani said, causing the oldest girl to frown slightly. What was wrong with her plans? Sure they had a tendency to do the opposite of what she intended sometimes, but it all worked out in the end, right?
Crystal looked at both of her friends and shook her head. They were probably about to get into an argument about Ashley’s plan she hadn’t even shared yet and end up trading insults about Nick and Kevin. It was just how they were. Deciding not to intervene with their craziness, she just logged onto her computer and killed time on the internet. They’d call her back to the “meeting” when she was needed.
She wasn’t one for celebrity gossip, but lately she’d been checking out those sites before her two friends could in case she needed to warn them about some nasty rumors about them. Even though their names were thrown around in gossip blogs and thousands of girls probably hated her two friends, she considered them to be the lucky ones. They defeated the odds and got to be with two of the most famous people on the planet right now, and they were happy. And she was happy for them, she really was, but she couldn’t help but feel a little bit down when they got to see their boyfriends and she didn’t have anyone.
Still hearing insults flying about who was the bigger w.hore, she shook her head and returned to her reading. Sure enough, there was a new article on one of the bigger celebrity gossip sites about Ashley and Nick. She scanned it for anything cruel or cutting but it was just a picture from their date last week and that was pretty much it. After five months the world was beginning to get over the shock that Nick was dating a girl almost five years older than him.
After checking the other websites for anything else related to her friends and their boyfriends she realized how quiet it was in the room. A room where Stephani and Ashley were in was never quiet, and she turned around expecting to see any kind of disaster in her living room; anything from the house being destroyed around her to their lifeless bodies on the floor. But she didn’t see anything of the sort. In fact, the room was deserted apart from herself. Confused, she went outside to see if they might be there. Her brother and his best friend, Ricky and Kevin, were sitting outside talking so she walked over to them to see if they’d seen where Stephani and Ashley went.
Ricky answered her question with a shrug, and Kevin just laughed. Now she was even more confused and curiosity was kicking in big time. She could tell they knew something but didn’t feel like trying to get the information from them. If they were given strict orders not to tell they wouldn’t. And she was sure that if Ashley and Stephani were involved that the orders had been given. Shrugging she went back inside. If the girls abandoned her for their boyfriends she would find out on the internet.
She decided to go to Facebook out of boredom. Her day wasn’t really going as planned; she’d intended on hanging out with her two friends but apparently they had other plans. She grinned as she saw flair notifications from Stephani. She rolled her eyes when she realized they were all of Kevin’s butt. She would really have to have a talk about that girl and her obsession with her boyfriend’s rear. It was bordering on unhealthy.
Time passed slowly, and minutes dragged by for Crystal. Her slow internet connection didn’t help either, and she found herself staring at the clock on her taskbar. Ricky and Kevin both made their way inside and started a movie in the living room, ignoring Crystal’s questions of where Ashley and Steph were. She finally closed her laptop and settled in to watch the movie with her brothers.
About an hour into the movie, Kevin looked at his watched and motioned for Ricky to follow him. They thought Crystal couldn’t see what they were doing but she noticed and just rolled her eyes. There was no telling what the two of them had planned. She just kept watching the movie, not really caring what was going on.
Ten minutes later she heard the front door open loudly and started. She was engrossed in the movie and didn’t expect such a loud interruption. Or the guest that suddenly made his appearance in her living room.
“Hey Crystal!” Joe Jonas said sitting down next to her, causing Crystal to blush slightly and become a tad bit flustered in her thoughts. You’d think after about seven months of knowing the rockstar personally that she wouldn’t be as nervous around him. But that clearly wasn’t the case. “What are you watching?”
Crystal tried really hard to get over her nervousness and have a conversation with him. She’d managed a few times and they’d talked for several hours before, but she wasn’t expecting to see him tonight and didn’t have anything really interesting to say. “It’s a movie Ricky and Kevin started. It’s pretty good.”
“It looks pretty interesting.” Joe said, settling into the couch and placing his arm on the back of it. “You haven’t seen my brothers have you?” he asked as he looked over at her with a smile.
Crystal took a moment to look at him. He looked so different up close than he did in magazines or on television. It wasn’t as if he was two different people, but the smiles he gave for the media were different, less sincere. The one he had for her was real, and his eyes lit up more than any pop magazine could portray. “I haven’t seen them, but Ash and Steph mysteriously went missing a while ago. They’re probably out together.”
“Could’ve told somebody.” They both said at the same time, and laughed awkwardly at their shared thoughts.
“It’s not so bad though, you get to spend time with me,” Crystal said without thinking. Immediately she blushed and prepared to apologize but Joe was already laughing. She didn’t know what was so funny, and embarrassment flowed through her, making her regret her words even more.
Joe looked over at her and saw her face and his laughter stopped immediately. “What, no Crystal I’m not laughing at what you said. I’m laughing because I just realized what’s going on.” When she didn’t look like she understood what he was talking about he gently cupped her face with his hands and whispered, “it’s another one of Ashley’s plans. Of course they would want us to get together. The only single ones of the bunch? It would work out perfectly. If we liked each other that is.”
“And if we didn’t like each other?” Crystal whispered, but a blush was already on her cheeks. He was so close to her that she couldn’t really think clearly.
“I don’t think that’s ever been a problem.” He whispered before gently placing his lips on hers. While she’d never tell anyone this, she’d often imagined how Joe would kiss her. It was never anything like this. This kiss was perfect, pure, and amazing.
It was over all too quickly for her liking and as he pulled away she looked at him in confusion. Why did the kiss stop? She heard why and went outside with him, her hand in his, stop their friends from waking up the neighbors.
“I TOLD YOU IT WOULD WORK!” Ashley bellowed at Stephani before running over to Nick and kissing him happily.
“Whatever,” Stephani muttered, too wrapped up in Kevin to care about what Ashley was saying.
Crystal looked over at Ricky and Kevin to see them looking at Joe with their arms crossed. She knew that they’d helped get her and Joe together and their tough act was just for show. “Hey, you hurt my sister and I’ll kill you.” Ricky said, and Kevin nodded in agreement.
“That goes for me too.” Kevin stated.
Joe looked at Crystal happily and kissed her on the forehead. “I don’t think that will be a problem.” He whispered and the two joined their friends in the yard. Everything was perfect until Ashley called a meeting with everyone but Ricky, who pouted at being left out.
“Okay, so I have a plan…” she began, and the entire group groaned but listened attentively. Ashley’s plans, as silly as they may be, had a tendency to work out perfectly for all involved. “Now if we can only get Demi down here, I’m sure that someone whose name rhymes with icky would be very interested in meeting her.”
“You know what Ashley?” Joe said, holding Crystal’s hand tightly. “I think that could be arranged.”
“Then let’s make it happen.”
