So I wrote this up awhile ago and I finally decided to post it. So here it goes :)
This is the life, this is the dream.
And it’s nothing as it seems.
Every minute, every second is so real.
“The Life” –Push Play
Chapter One
“Ms. Langdon?” I looked up from my iPhone and saw Edward, the driver, nodding out the window. “Welcome back.”
I looked out the window and saw the familiar skyline of New York City and a smile quickly settled across my face. I continued to look out the window and felt that nostalgic feeling I always got when I saw the city. I never actually lived in NYC, but seeing the skyline gave me the feeling of home more than anything. Well, other than actually being home.
“Edward?” He turned his head slightly indicating he was listening. “Do you happen to know what time I’m expected at the hotel?”
“Yes, I believe Lily said that the party begins at 5, correct?” I nodded and he continued. “And she said she wanted you there at least 2 hours before so you can get ready and be there a little early.”
Quickly glancing down at the phone laying in my lap, I noticed it was only 1:30. And I had yet to eat lunch.
“Can you stop at the next Burger King you see?”
Smirking he replied, “Of course Ms. Langdon.”
I turned back to my iPhone where I was texting my best friend, Ashlee. “Oh wait Edward, one last thing before I forget.”
“Yes Ms. Langdon?”
“Stop calling me that.” I smiled up at Edward. He’d known me for the past year and still refused to refer to me by anything else.
“Yes, Caitlyn.” He smiled back and pulled the car over to the curb. I got out of the SUV and side-stepped the pile of snow on the sidewalk then ducked my head and followed Edward into the packed BK . “Hi and welcome to Burger King. May I take your order?”
“Yes, I would like a 9 piece chicken fry and an order of medium fries.”
“And what size drink would you like?”
“Um, medium please.” I turned to Edward who was standing behind me. “Do you want anything Edward?”
He looked up at the menu quickly before ordering a Whopper meal for himself. I pulled out my credit card and paid for our meals then took the two cups from the young man behind the counter.
“What do you want to drink Edward?”
“I’ll take a Root Beer, thanks Ms. Lang-“ I turned and gave him a look. “Ok, if I’m calling you Caitlyn than you have to call me Ed.”
“Deal.” As I was filling up my Diet Coke I heard the last thing I wanted to at that moment.
“Oh my gosh! It’s Caitlyn Langdon!” I turned and pulled out a smile. The girl standing in front of me looked about two years younger than me. “Oh my gosh, I love you! Is it true that you’re getting a show on the Disney Channel?”
“Is that the new rumor out there?” The girl simply nodded and my fake smile quickly gave way to a real one. “I’m not really supposed to say this, but yes. It’s being announced tonight.” The girl’s smile widened and she asked if I would take a picture with her and I quickly consented. I had to admit, even when I was not in the mood to be spotted, the fans always made me instantly happy. I signed a piece of paper she found in her purse just as my order was called.
“Thanks Caitlyn!”
“No, thank you. I wouldn’t be here without all you fans.” After flashing a last smile, I grabbed the bag of food and walked out with Ed.
