So, here's the prologue and the first chapter. Yay! ^_^
Prologue (Enter Jocelyn)
“The star of the blockbuster hit: Blowing in the Breeze. Ms. Jocelyn Matthews!” Jay Leno announces, causing the aforementioned young woman to walk out from the side. She hugs the television host and sits on the plushy leather chair next to his desk.
“Thanks for coming on the show.” He says, getting his cards in order.
“Thanks for inviting me.” She answers politely.
“So, you got famous fast.” He says bluntly, causing the audience to laugh.
“Yes, I was extraordinarily lucky. My second movie makes it big. I’m still waiting to wake up and realize it was all a dream.” She smiles.
“I saw your movie. It was really good, why don’t you tell everyone what it’s about, although I think most people here saw it.” He says, causing a cheer to spread through the crowd.
Jocelyn smiles. “Well, it’s about a teenage girl who grows up with her rocker mom. She is forced to be the parent and pretty much takes care of her mom. She drops out of school and gets a job at sixteen. It’s about the drama of her growing up and finding her long lost father.”
“I thought the actress that played Alex, your character as an adult was really good.” Jay Leno says.
“Yes, she’s amazingly talented. Jamie Nesterfield. We had so much on set. Her and Brad Lyon were my best friends while we were shooting.”
”And Brad was your character’s love interest, right?” Jay Leno says, raising his eyebrows. “Anything going on with you two?”
“Nah, he’s way too gorgeous for someone like me.” She laughs. “It’s funny, because we kiss in the movie and right before we shot the scene, I told him I had never kissed before.” Jocelyn says, smiling at the memory.
“You had never kissed anyone before the movie?” Jay Leno asks, looking surprised.
“Nope.” She shakes her head. “So he starts apologizing! I just told him not to worry about it. I mean, he’s gorgeous. All of you ladies who’ve seen the movie; he’s a good looking guy, right?” All the girls start clapping and cheering and Jocelyn laughs. “He’s an amazing kisser too.” She laughs, her cheeks turning red.
Jay Leno starts asking questions about the movie, and she answers, usually making the crowd laugh.
“So, what are you doing next?” He asks.
“Actually, I just signed a contract with Disney. It turns out they found out I could sing and they thought I’d be good in their upcoming movie. I’m really excited about it, although I’ve always preferred indie movies. I think this will be fun.”
Chapter 1: Being a 'Love Interest'
Not even a week later and Jocelyn is being flown to the set of Disney’s next movie. The film is being shot in Australia and Jocelyn is ecstatic. She doesn’t know much about the topic of the movie. She was told it was about a prestigious music school and that she would be one of three main girls in the plot.
Walking out of the plane, she realized she had dressed wrong. It’s winter here, great. She ran from the plane to the airport, her messenger bag thrown over her shoulder. Once inside, she rubbed her bare arms, trying to create some heat. She heads over to the luggage pick-up area. Wearing shorts and a t-shirt wasn’t the best plan. It was 80 degrees back in California. She’s still shivering, even though the heat is helping.
“What are you doing in shorts when it’s 10 degrees outside?” A deep voice says behind her, with an undeniably cute Australian accent.
“It was warmer in the northern hemisphere. Dang Celsius using…” She pouts, mumbling the last bit to herself.
“Ah, an American.” He says with a smirk.
“Yep.” She turns back around to look for her luggage again. She sees her bright orange rolling suitcase and lifts it off of the rack, and sets it on the ground. Once she turns around, the guy talking to her is nowhere to be found. She looks at the front for someone with a cardboard sign saying Jocelyn, like in the movies. She doesn’t find see anything like that.
“Ms. Matthews!” Someone shouts behind her. She turns around and sees a man dressed in a suit waving at her. She smiles and walks over. He grabs her luggage. “I’ll be driving you to the hotel Miss. Here’s a letter I was told to give you.” He hands her a huge manila packet, and leads her towards the door.
“Wait!” Jocelyn stops him. She digs through her suitcase, finds a sweater, and throws it on. “Sorry, it’s kind of cold.” She says shrugging.
The packet contained a hotel room, and a script for the movie. As well as information about her roommates and the cast. Jocelyn is stuck on three words on the first page of the cast. She’s read them eight times now. “The Jonas Brothers.” She reads aloud, for the ninth time, before screaming.
“What’s wrong?” the driver says worriedly.
“Nothing’s wrong. Everything’s perfect. Better than perfect really. I’m in a movie with the Jonas Brothers!” She screams the last part. She flips through the pamphlet “Jocelyn Matthews playing April (Kevin Jonas’ Love interest). Kevin Jonas’ love interest! Oh my gosh!” She takes a deep breath, tying to calm herself as the driver just shakes his head, with a smile on his face.
She continues reading and finds out her two roommates are Libby and Megan, the other two female stars. She gets more and more excited as she starts reading the script.
“We’re here.” The driver says pulling up in front of a fancy hotel.
“Thanks.” Jocelyn smiles, taking her luggage and hurrying into the hotel. Her legs freezing in the cold air. She walks quickly to her room and opens the door. “Hi.” She smiles widely to a girl lying on a bed.
“Hi, I’m Libby.” She says smiling. “You’re Jocelyn right?”
“Call me Josh. All my friends do.” She smiles. “I know it’s a guy’s name.” she says, once seeing the confused look on her face.
“I wasn’t going to say anything.” Libby smiles back. “Megan got here first and called the room to herself.” She says, pointing at the door conjoining the two rooms the girls were sharing.
“It’ll be like a sleepover. In a really fancy hotel room.” Jocelyn says, laughing excitedly at the idea. She sits on the bed but can’t stay sitting. “We’re in a movie with the Jonas Brothers!” She says excitedly, trying not to jump round like a crazy person in front of her new coworker.
“I know, I’m Nick’s ‘love interest’” Libby says in a silly voice, causing Josh to laugh.
“I’m Kevin’s ‘love interest’.” Jocelyn says in a similarly odd fashion and both girls collapse in giggles.
“Tomorrow’s going to be so awesome.” Libby says, after catching her breath.
“Tomorrow?”
“Yeah, we get to meet the whole cast tomorrow.” She says causing a huge smile to break out on Josh’s.
“No way! I have to find an outfit.” Jocelyn yells, running to her suitcase.
“I’ll help.” Libby says, and they start searching through Jocelyn’s suitcase.
