THE GIRL I THOUGHT I KNEW
Lanie sat in her convertable, the top up and the sun beaming down. She smiled to herself as she parked in front of one of her oldest friends small cottage. Lanie had never been so excited and so nervous at the same time. Her mind raced as she looked over at the house she once remembered so well. The memories flooded back, the time Josie threw her a collage going away party, and the time Nick shoved a pumpkin pie in Lanie's face.
Today was a special day, today Lanie's and Josie's Best friend Stephanie was getting married to her High School sweetie, Kevin Jonas the Second. The two had been together sence 9th grade and stayed together even when the boys went on tour every summer and of course when they got older and started touring more. Lanie let out a breath she didnt even relize she was holding in. WOW, she got goose bumps even thinking about Nick Jonas in a suit. His curly hair sweeping shyly over his eyes. Oh how she loved his curly hair. Of course she was dying to see him dressed nicely with a tie and a nice black jacket. The last time she had seen him dressed up was when they were both 10, and it was at church. Then again it really wasnt that greatest of a memory, Joe and Josie had a cookie eating contest before the service, and when they were getting ready to prey Josie accidently puked on Nick who was sitting next to her. He would never let her live that down. Thinking about it Lanie laughed, remembering the priceless look that crossed Nick's surpised face.
Lanie got out of the car and grabbed her Tennis bag filled with make-up and her new Silky black dress for wedding. She walked quitly up the porch steps and laughed to herself as she heard Josie and Stephanie singing to Lanie's favorite song "This Ones for the girls" by Tina Mcbride(?) Knocking twice on the front door Lanie felt the urge to scream and jump up and down. TODAY was the day her friend was starting a new life, this was the day that Josie could show off her new body that she had worked hard over for 7 long months, and it was the day Lanie was going to see the love of her life once again. Today was a good day and it was going to get alot better, she could feel it in her bones.
"LANIE-DOODLE," came a voice from behind the door. Josie's bright green eyes were wide with excitment as she opened up the door revealing Lanie's bright white smile.
"JOSIE, what's going on?" Lanie replied, engolfing her friend in a hug.
"Uh we should be asking you the same Collage girl, " came a voice beside Her. Lanie looked to her right and almost cried right then and there.
"STEPHANIE, YOU LOOK STUNNING," Lanie's eyes begain to water as she looked at Stephanie, who was in her wedding dress. It was off white and a holter top that showed of her amazing figure and her make- up made her look like a movie star. she looked fabulous like always.
"You think so?" she said twirling in her dress, stars seemed to sparkle in her eyes and Lanie knew this was the day she had been waiting for her entire life.
"DUHHHH," screamed Josie who was blowing at her newly manicured nails. She too looked stunning in her black silk dress, exactly the same as Lanie's. Her normally wildly choppy black hair was pinned back and straightened to the point that it probably couldnt be straightened any more. 'Life was sweet that was for sure' Lanie thought to herself.
"Well, I guess i should go change and let you girls do my make-up?" Lanie said holding up her bag and swinging it around making Stephanie laugh.
"I'm so going to do your make-up," Stephanie said cheerfully
"Uhh NO WAY Steph, you always put on that yellow and purple eyeshadow, and i'm sure that she doesnt want to relive PROM all over again," Smiled Josie winking over in Lanie's direction.
"FINE!" Laughed Stephanie who plopped on the couch and started looking through a bridal magazine.
"Okay i'm showering and them letting JOSIE do my make-up, Stephanie can do the hair," Lanie replied making sure both her friends could have their share to make her glow with beauty. Lanie wanted Nick to melt when he saw her.
"Yeah, hurry though because Joe's picking us up in an hour and I hate rushing perfection," Josie laughed putting a hand on Lanie's shoulder. "Nick's going to be there." she replied wiggling her eyebrows. Lanie rolled her eyes at her friends who then both chimmed in with the 'AWWWS' and the "OOHHHs"
"That's Nice," Retorted Lanie pushing her lips into a smile.
"Oh, and he said he has a suprise," Sqealed Stephanie, who was overly hyper due to the nature of the day.
" I bet he got his hair done the way Little Lanie likes," laughed Josie.
"We'll Just have to wait and see, right?" Lanie said rushing into the bathroom and shutting the door. She quitly let out a yelp of excitment. 'Nick Jonas the boy i've been in love sence 6th grade' was the only thing that ran through her mind, but what was his surprise? Was it a new car? Was it that hair cut that made Lanie drowl? She just couldnt wait to find out.
"Hurry Up in there, Oh wait you want to be perfect so nick will catch that LOVEBUG again right??"came Stephanie's voice from the hallway.
Lanie Laughed as she put stepped into the shower and let the warn beads of water wash over her body. Today was the day that she was going to fall BACK in love with Nicholas Jerry Jonas. Today was that exact day, it was the perfect day, wasnt it?
