LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK AND IF I SHOULD CONTINUE!
Sweet as Sugar
Chapter 1
The wind rustled the grass around us. I took a deep breath sniffing the night air. I have never dreamed that I would be sitting here watching the stars with my boyfriend. I have never had a boyfriend now that I think about it. I take my eyes away from the sparkling night sky and turned to look at him.
“What’s wrong, sugar?” I loved the sound of his voice. How he called me sugar and sweetie, like I was his favorite candy. I looked in his eyes and sighed.
“Nothing. Just thinking.”
“About what?” He said propping himself up on his muscular arm. His dark brown eyes looking at me.
“Me and you.”
“Yeah?”
“I was thinking. How come, I mean what do you see in me? I mean I have never had a boyfriend before. I hadn’t even been asked on a date until I met you. What’s so different? Why me?”
He shut his eyes for a second. I stood up.
“Oh, umm… I really got to go.”
He grabbed my hand and pulled me back to the ground. He placed his hands on my shoulders and made me look in his eyes.
“I picked you because you are like no other girl. You are smart, funny, and,” he placed his left hand on my face and leaned into kiss me. Right before our lips met he whispered something soft and sincere. “You are the most beautiful thing I have ever laid my eyes on. You’re perfect.”
After a couple of seconds of pure bliss, we broke apart.
“I love you. And no matter what happens, that will never change.”
Two Weeks Later
My phone started ringing on the table next to me. I looked at the caller ID and knew exactly whom the restricted call was from.
“Hey Nicky!”
“Hey Sugar. Whatcha doing?”
“You know, regular teenage stuff. Homework.”
“Really? Me too!”
“Well calling me isn’t exactly doing your homework is it rock star?” I said. Using the little pet name I had given him after the first concert of his I had been to.
“Well, the teacher left to get something and this is my only chance to talk to you today.”
“Oh what are you doing tonight then?”
“You know, regular Rock Star stuff. Photo shoots, radio interview, which by the way is at 5:30 your time. 107.5, and a concert later tonight.”
“That’s cool.”
“Yeah, I guess, but not a cool at being with you.”
“Aww…”
“Hey, I have to go, she’s coming. But tell me, what are you doing this weekend?”
“Umm. You know, I have to save the world, feel the whales, and watch grass grow. But other than that I am free.”
“We will be in town this weekend, I will call you later to tell you more details. Joe wants to go play Laser Tag or go bowling or something. So call Caden and ask her what she wants to do. I’ll call you tomorrow.”
“Okay.”
“I really have to go.”
“I love you.”
“I love you too.”
We said our goodbyes and hung up. My heart still beating fast; how come three little words make my heart feel like it is going to jump out of my chest? I got up from my chair and turned on my radio, and sat back down and finished my homework. The phone rang before I even picked up my pencil.
“Hey Cady!”
“Hey. Have you heard from the boys lately? I am worried, Joey hasn’t called me for the past couple days.”
“Yeah, actually I just got off the phone with Nick. He was wondering if we wanted to go bowling or do laser tag on Saturday.”
“Saturday, this Saturday?”
“Yup. That would be the one!”
“They are coming here?”
“Yes, Caden.”
“Oh my gosh. We need to go shopping. We only have two days!”
“Calm down! Caden. Pick me up at seven and we will go shopping.”
“Yay! Shopping! See you later!”
“Bye!”
We hung up and I paused, waiting for the phone to ring again before I picked up my pencil. The phone was mute and I picked up my pencil and finished my homework. After thirty minutes I heard the familiar voice that I loved so much. I ran over to the radio and turned up the volume and closed my eyes, letting his sweet voice fill my ears.
