And all the words we never say come out and now we are all ashamed. And there is no sense
Kelsey was in her bedroom, doing her math homework, when her best friend came in through the window.
“Hey” He said, sitting on her bed. Kelsey looked up and turned to nod a greeting, before turning back and finishing her math. “What cha up to, Kels?” he asked curiously.
“Math homework.” She replied, finishing her last problem. Stupid Trigonometry! She thought as she put the work in her backpack. She turned her attention to her best friend, who was still looking at her. “I can’t believe this is the last week of high school! So anyways, did you just get back?”
“Yeah, we have 3 months off before we tour again!” He said chuckling. When Kelsey heard this, her face lit up.
“Awesome! Now we can finally spend time together, and do best friend stuff!” she laughed.
“Well, we’d have to include Raquel too.” He said pretending to study her bed comforter.
“Wait, who?” Kelsey asked confused.
“My…” he pausing to smile. “My Girlfriend.” At the word ‘Girlfriend’ Kelsey’s heart dropped into her feet. She couldn’t believe that her best friend had a girlfriend, and didn’t tell her. I should have told him before he left! I’m such an idiot! Kelsey thought. You see, Kevin wasn’t just Kelsey’s best friend; no he was much more than that. He was the person that Kelsey loved, more than anything. Of course, Kevin didn’t know this, and probably never will now.
“Oh wow! You found someone, that’s…that’s awesome Kevin!” Kelsey exclaimed, trying to hide the pain burning inside her. Forcing a smile on her face, she got up, went over and hugged him. Kelsey never wanted to stop hugging him, but she knew she had to.
“So do you want to go see a movie with us tonight?” Kevin asked after they stopped hugging.
“Um, well, I don’t want to a third wheel…” She looked down.
“No worries! You can always bring Joe with you!” He smiled. Kevin was so blind, that he thought Kelsey liked Joe, not him. Truth was, Kelsey did like Joe at one point, but that was when she was about 10, and Kevin was 12. Kelsey is actually Joe’s age, but she always got along better with Kevin.
“Oh, uh, okay then.” Kelsey tried her best to smile.
