Later, when it was time to go to the movies Kelsey put a bit of black eye liner on. The only reason she used black, was because it brought out her blue-green eyes better. Kelsey didn’t like putting on too much makeup, so she just put a bit of lip gloss on. She put on her favorite outfit, recycled jeans, a black shirt with the W logo in white on it, and her favorite bracelets, slipped on her black and pink shaker shoes and was ready. There was a knock on her door, and it opened to reveal her mother.
“The boys are here, sweetie.” She said.
“Kay, thanks mom.” Kelsey said, grabbing her iPod, before following her mom downstairs.
“Hey Kels.” Joe greeted. She just nodded and stuck her headphones in her ears and pressed play, drowning out outside sounds. As she was following Joe out to the car, she saw that Kevin and his girlfriend were already in the car waiting. Kelsey got in the back seat with Joe, still paying no attention to what was going on around her, just listening to her music. As her favorite song came on, she couldn’t help but sing along, forgetting that she was in the car with other people.
“I can feel my heart beat through my chest. And I tell myself it's for the best, as I pack my things into my car.” Kelsey sang from her heart, not caring that everyone else was giving her weird looks. “So here's to you and here's to me living our lives separately! It's a great big world and I'm a single girl! So I'm glad I'm leaving! I won't shed a single tear. Wishing that I had you here, I don't' need a man to hold my hand! I'm stronger than you think I am!” As she finished singing, she finally realized that they were still staring at her. She pulled out one of her headphones and asked “What?”
“Wow, Kelsey! You have a great voice!” Joe exclaimed. “Is that your song?” He asked.
“No, it’s by Rachel Ferguson. She’s a Canadian artist.” Kelsey answered, noticing that Kevin was too busy making Raquel laugh to pay attention to what just happened. She rolled her eyes and looked back at Joe.
“Oh, that’s cool.” He smiled. “So what movie are we going to see?”
“Nothing scary, please!” Joe laughed at Kelsey begging.
